SMARTv8.0

Hello all, it's time for a major revision bump due to some pretty significant changes and improvements.
Say hello to v8.0 (needs Simba 0.99 or later), but first, some things worth pointing out:
- Java must be on your path now, since the new out-of-process launching method that made most of the improvements possible uses java.exe directly. Look up a guide to add java.exe to your path if you're not sure how. As a result, only the plugin for Simba needs to be a compiled library now (along with native methods for the Java side), and most of SMART is in a jar now, which is just better. A side effect of this is:
- Arguments to SmartSpawnClient changed but only slightly:
function SmartSpawnClient(remote_path, root, params: string; width, height: integer; initseq, useragent, javaargs: string): integer;
The first five arguments are required, the last three can be left as empty strings.
- initseq should be 's' to start in Safe Mode
- useragent can set a specific useragent for SMART to use if you're paranoid
- javaargs are anything you want to pass to java.exe (e.g. max memory settings or other command line args). N.B. this isn't implemented for linux (yet) but most everyone uses windows or wine on linux (which is the same as windows as far as SMART is concerned).
- Uses the same spawning/pairing scheme as v7.2 so there won't need to be a rewrite of the code that manages SMART in SRL (with the exception of the argument change mentioned above). In-process functionality is removed in this version, but it is far inferior to out-of-process functionality anyway.
- Other rendering modes work now with the caveat that only Safe Mode will provide color data to Simba (as has always been the case). Along with that, and in preparation for a possible future where other rendering modes can provide color data, there is a new element on the GUI that lets you select the running mode (SafeMode is default). This does, however, let you run OpenGL mode in SMART so that you can use interception, which could mitigate the need for color information anyway.
- Significant performance enhancements specifically for image transfer. It's at least 2x as efficient now using new functionality in Java 6 (since RS requires that you use it, anyway). Speed improvements for debug image and initialization as well.
- FPS bar no longer introduces lag in the client and only controls the rate at which SMART updates Simba's image buffer. The default should be fine for everyone, and as a side effect RS loads MUCH faster now.
- Pairing immensely more stable compared to v7.2, which was a nice test run, but didn't work as well as I expected on windows. All bugs related to trying to pair to already paired clients and leaving zombie processes SHOULD have been fixed. (Thanks to Brandon for testing all this on an actual windows machine for me.) Further, the pairing logic is simplified, streamlined, and just better in general.
- Numerous other (trivial) bugfixes so this SMART should be the most stable out there. Apologies for my accelerated development/release schedule (I feel like I pulled a Mozilla), but everything should be good now.

there have been issues with java 7 and smart in the past, i see you are still developing it in java 6? or was that a typo? if not, what are your future predictions on java 7 compatibility.

Brandon

He already said the parameters are different. If you're going to test, edit SmartParams.simba and remove -1 at line 268.
Also Java 7 works fine. Only thing is smart will annoy the hell out of you because it'll keep grabbing focus (On Java 7). That being said, if you're already on 6, stick to it.
And Ben whenever you get some time, whichever you check first (Git or Here), see my comment on the mouse thing. Just got home to test it and saw this thread.
Oh and for debugging, Smart has it's own console so you can see what it's doing (It's a java console.. Java.exe).

The 'issues' weren't compatibility issues, they were the result of botched java installs or otherwise different setups that could have been fixed by specifying th jvm path. That's no longer an issue because SMART will use whatever java.exe is on the path. Java is always backwards compatible, though things might be slightly different. It has always worked on Java 7 for me, but if I compile it with Java 7, no previous versions would be able to run it.

The S makes a difference. It'll force safemode so that it doesn't show that thing that says "Auto something" about graphics.. you know.. That button that you get when you load RS normally after being in safemode. It covers the login screen so you can't login until you press leave alone or auto setup or something.
That's what the S does on my windows comp.

Where can I get the non-buggy version? All my scripts are messing up atm as described here:

I downloaded from the link that is in the 1st post. I have reinstalled Simba, jdk, java, deleted the -1 etc, also, when I revert to v7.2 things work fine for me.
Can I manually change whatever is wrong?

But the link Brandon posted is the same link that's on the first post… There's no way they are different.
Also, if your CPU usage is higher than before there are two possible reasons:
1) RS is using more CPU now
2) The image transfer is running faster than it used to due to performance enhancements and you should turn it down with the FPS bar.
E: Rebuilding the plugins on github just in case. Since it's the same link your browser might not redownload it because it thinks it's the same file (if you downloaded it before). You could have to restart it.

I meant the CPU usage in comparison with the rates I had with 7.2. I Moved the fps bar all the way down til it went to 2-5 fps i think and still it uses more CPU :'( … I'm back on 7.2 atm and i have usage around 20%.

Just got v8.0 working and so far the client itself works great!
I do have some questions though. Is there any way to hide the console window that comes up with SMART (not the one with Simba)? Also is there any way to have all the SMART windows as one "icon" on your task bar. Ex:

|
|
V

It used to just have one icon, with all the windows under it while running multiple SMARTs. Not really a big issue, but annoying if running 4-5 SMARTs at once.
Last question is, can somebody explain User Agents to me more? Can they easily be implemented to use with Simba/SMART? This question can be answered in PM if it would be considered spam on this thread. Sorry if I'm annoying :p
But again, v8.0 works great and I haven't had any performance issues with it at all yet. I'll be sure to post if I find anything work posting about. Great work!

If the entire process is using more processor power, it's likely because RS is running at full speed due to the FPS bar no longer inducing lag. Inducing lag was causing problems. I do know for a fact that SMART itself is using less power, though you have to remember the RS client is running inside it.
Jakkle

I did a quick test. I loaded Runescape in my normal web browser (Google Chrome) and then loaded it up in SMART and there is quite an increase of cpu usage from Java.exe when using SMART.
When using the normal web browser windows resource monitor says the average cpu usage is 28.##
When using SMART it says the average cpu usage is 55.##.
Would you say SMART should be using that much more than a normal web browser ?
Edit: Also I thought that when disabling SMART the Tab thing had been fixed ?
I found to reduce it I set RS to use very little CPU and disabled graphic's allows me to run 5 acc's 4 are on that setup and other is maxed cpu as i need it for testing.
and I am at 70 % CPU but does change alot, its a lot better than with 4 at 100% cpu.

You would need to be using DXinterception for it to do anything as SRL doesn't work with that mode.
To get it working tho I Select DX to be used in runescapes setting, while smart is in safemode. Then the screen (RS in SMART) flickers black for me and after I see that happen I change SMART to DX.
Edit: seems to work for OGL to. Just change the setting in Runescape before you change the one on SMART.

afaik, there's no DXI built into simba, yet. There's been progress in various threads (such as Mato's) on building plugin's for it, however it remains incomplete (on Mato's thread). But like Jakkle said, you can use DX mode in RS with S.M.A.R.T. 8.0

Yeah I'm a Windows user and have SMART v8.0 and I can't go into DirectX, tried using Jakkle's method posted above to do it. I usually play in DirectX on normal RS, and the performance improvement is great. So that sucks that Windows users can't use it atm. Hopefully we can use it easily in the future.

I'm getting the same error as this, except it says line 273 for me and there's just an "end;" statement. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help because I think I've tried everything, updated numerous times, downloaded all the required plugins and S.M.A.R.T. files, uninstalled/reinstalled numerous times and I'm still getting that error. I may have updated something wrong because my SmartParams.simba seems to be different, I don't get

Go to line 285 (the one you had that "Result:= SmartSpawnClient(ReplaceWrap(PluginPath, '\', '/', [rfReplaceAll]), Params[0], ',' + Params[1], 765, 553, 's', '', '', -1)" on) and change it to
Result:= SmartSpawnClient(ReplaceWrap(PluginPath, '\', '/', [rfReplaceAll]), Params[0], ',' + Params[1], 765, 553, 's', '', '')
Save SmartParams.simba and then close it.
Do NOT try to run it.This should have fixed your error.

Go to line 285 (the one you had that "Result:= SmartSpawnClient(ReplaceWrap(PluginPath, '\', '/', [rfReplaceAll]), Params[0], ',' + Params[1], 765, 553, 's', '', '', -1)" on) and change it to
Result:= SmartSpawnClient(ReplaceWrap(PluginPath, '\', '/', [rfReplaceAll]), Params[0], ',' + Params[1], 765, 553, 's', '', '')
Save SmartParams.simba and then close it. Do NOT try to run it.
This should have fixed your error.
Awesome, thanks! I had tried this before but never saved, I guess that was the problem? Yeah that fixed the SmartParams error but now I have this:
Error: Out Of Range at line 285
The following DTMs were not freed: [SRL - Lamp bitmap, 1]
The following bitmaps were not freed: [SRL - Mod bitmap, SRL - Admin bitmap, SRL - Flag bitmap, SRL - NavBar Bitmap]

Just try running the script again. Not sure why, but this happened to me this morning. The only thing I can think of that caused this for me is that I installed java 7.

wtf is this? They get created every time I run smart(I only run 1, I don't use multiple smarts/accounts)

*this is a clean install of simba + latest updates with smart v8… ignore unins000.dat
And also I am having an odd issue, 1st time running smart the game runs perfectly, but after the 2nd time(stopping script, then trying it again or a different script) causes runescape to run slowly as if the Bar of the right side were almost down lowest… and by the moving it all the way to the top doesn't even changes the speed it stays slow(but putting it entirely down, does make it slower). I have to restart the computer so it runs again normally… but after the 1st run it happens again.
So any help on both? This only happens to me since using this new smart
cpu & memory usage is perfectly fine - I just have no idea what is causing it

I tend to get quite a few SMART files too. Just close simba and smart, then delete them. Although they might only be temporary anyway, I just like to keep my folder neat.
I think it might have something to do with pairing with more than one client after stopping a script and starting again or having more than one script running at a time.
No, I get the same issue arising as blinkblink and I only run 1 client at a time.

P1ng, do you ever stop the script and then start it again? That is the other thing that I was thinking might cause multiple smart files being created.
Usually I only have one client open at once.

My post & his post says what we do… which means what you just posted lol
We use only 1 Smart, stop & start again the script.. or change to a different script.
It is not normal that those files are getting created and actually staying there… instead of being like a temp file which gets erased after ending its usage.

- Arguments to SmartSpawnClient changed but only slightly:
function SmartSpawnClient(remote_path, root, params: string; width, height: integer; initseq, useragent, javaargs: string): integer;

I extracted them to the Plugin folder. But SMART won't load. Is this because of the whole "Java.exe must be in your path" thing? Not very noobie friendly, I tried looking for a guide but in all honesty I don't even know what I'm looking for!

Upon reloading (use of sixhourfix), is there any reason the smart client should flicker/flicker and delay temporarily? Or would this be a personal error?
(the fix works great - but I notice every here and there, the smart screen with rs loaded will flicker and pause [the connection?] the scripts actions, but then resume shortly after)

The client is very laggy for me. Apparently it is only what the client is displaying and not actually runescape. When I run my scripts they work fine and runescape has constant 50 fps, but the refresh rate on SMART is horrible. Any fix to this?

Thank you for the great updates!
This is a really stupid question, but I haven't been on in a while and now I'm just returning, so I just updated everything in simba. Now when I run a script, I get the error:
Exception in Script: Unable to find file 'SRL/SRL/Misc/Smart.simba'
I'm assuming this is because the new files in the folder are renamed, since there's a new change to function SmartSpawnClient. Where is this function though, because I tried searching SmartSpawnClient on all of the simba files in Simba/Includes/SRL/SRL/Misc and nothing seems to have it…
After using Smart v8 for a week or so…Here's the two issues I'm coming across.
It loves trying to be the active window (On top), when minimizing it it loves coming ontop again (Or flashes instead).
And when typing while a script is going, sometimes not all the keystrokes go through.

AFAIK, that is because you are using Java 7, using Java 6 eliminates this problem.

Good release, uses an average of half the cpu power per instance (vs 7.2), same script(s) standing still, haven't benchmarked running around yet
running java7 and windows7 on all tests btw
seems to be about half the cpu usage for running too, however runescape is tarded when it comes to using my graphics so it's hard to test it.. sometimes it uses my gpu sometimes it uses my cpu to render the graphics? (this is only while running) uhh derp.. also it's runescape not smart doing that..

I am not sure if this is a Smart issue or a Java issue but when I try and type in the chat box, there is a huuuuuuuuge delay before it lets me. As soon as the first letter appears (which can take maybe 15 seconds) it lets me type normally. But then when I am done it goes back to taking a long time. I guess this is a known issue. Any help?

What processor are you on?
If simba and smart have only one thread, they'll probably be running themselves before they allow text input to go through, this means it's cached so if you typed and pressed enter it would go through whenever it's sent through the processor
same deal with other processors that aren't single threads, however less likely the more threads you have..
smart seems to be pretty fast with text these days, especially vs what it was a year or more ago

Hmm, using a first gen i7 860. So that probably shouldn't be an issue.
I should note that I have just upgraded from SMART 7.2 in which it would let me type straight away BUT sometimes characters wouldn't…register, as if it couldn't detect the keypresses sometimes.

Sounds like a java issue O_o
if you're on windows 7, java7 seems to be working ok I would uninstall all javas and make sure they're deleted, and then reinstall 1 of them
java has never really ran that well, and it's getting worse lol
especially because the smart is working fine on multiple instances / OS's for me, it narrows it down to a java or maybe your OS is just running slow type of issue..

Gah, I had to downgrade from Java 7 at a previous date because the SMART window keeps grabbing focus, that is an issue that is mentioned earlier in the thread.
I am not sure if there is a happy medium here :(

If I disable SMART, start typing, enable it then it will let me type, but only if I don't take too long between sentences.
Unsure whether I should go back to Java 7 and hope that SMART 8 doesn't grab the focus from everything. Or stick to Java 6 and go back to SMART 7.2 and hope I can type.
I just installed Java 7 alongside Java 6. The typing problem has (seemingly) completely vanished. But now I am stuck with the problem of SMART grabbing focus whenever it "clicks".
Does this help narrow down the problem?
EDIT1: I had been using the last revision of Java 6 - 35. I am now using an earlier one, 30, and (fingers crossed) seems to be no focus OR typing problems. Will update post accordingly in time.
Haha spoke to soon, apparently that typing issue is still there. If anyone is reading this and is using some version of Java 6, and has no issues, please tell me which version it is - thanks.
It works fine UNTIL I minimise the smart window. When I then bring it back up, thats when I need to wait forever to type. But once it lets me, it works ok until the screen is minimised again.

Close Simba, find your Simba\Plugins folder, download the .zip from the original post, unzip/copy the downloaded files into - as well as replace - the current files in the Simba\Plugins folder. Open simba + start smart, make sure you are running simba v.990 or later too.

The makefile can build the whole thing. In v8.0 there is only the main source tree and it's all remote, it no longer has the remote wrapper. Run `make` in the root folder to see build options.

I had a problem loading smart when upgrading from 7.2 to 8.0
When SmartSpawnClient was called a console window briefly appeared stating:
Error: Could not find or load main class Files.Simba.Plugins..smart.jar
In the simba console this showed as "unable to spawn smart client" or some such.
I had my simba folder in "C:\program files\" so based on the error message I assumed that the package path to smart was getting cropped at the space in "program files".
Moving simba onto a path with no spaces in allowed the package path to resolve correctly and smart loaded fine.
I'd rather be able to store simba in "program files" so maybe this is a bug that could be fixed? If not, I hope this is informative for anyone else with this error.

Always unzip, that's the rule for everything, once unzipped copy the unzipped contents (the things you just unzipped) into the folder destination and it will come up with "are you sure you want to replace" - say yes to all, then you see where it says $define_smart - something along those lines Im on my phone atm so can't remember fully at the end of smart) put an 8 there like this SMART8)
hope that helps

Let me just say, thanks for your reply. I understand everything you are saying and it has been entirely helpful. I am just missing one detail:
To WHERE do I save the contents of the "SMART-master" script? Am I supposed to replace the entire contents of the "plugins" folder? or a file within the plugins folder?
Thanks for your help, man.

Your supposed to replace all the files in the plugins folder that it asks you to.
I guess this has been asked before but what cause Smart 7.2 and 8.0 to want to be in front of everything.

I think that has to do with the Java version you're using. IIRC 1.6 doesn't do that but 1.7 does.

Has anybody managed to get SMART 8 working on Windows Xp?
Endless " Failed to pair - No client by that ID" messages. Tried this on several xp machines, a couple fresh installs, different versions of java, etc. The same setup under Windows 7 works but does not work under Xp.
This is a pain: I usually run my scripts in a VM running Xp.

Any support for 07 client users. Been attempting to change the SMARTparams to load the old school Rs page but in the source code of the new RS and the old only difference I can find is that old school doesn't use iFrame. I changed the path many times but still cant seem to get it to load old school webpage :D !

More than likely there won't be an official release for 07 SMART until after some time. Or another botting site brings out their own. For now just run scripts with 07 rs running on the website. It will still work fine that way.
Yeah I shouldn't keep wasting time trying to figure out what needs to be changed when I didn't make it but still there is like no anti random scripts you cant run the bot and leave your computer for very long rather bot while I can check it every 30 min or so doing other stuff.

We've done all of the 07 include development using smart - it's pretty easy to have it load up.
Sorry what do you mean by this? The include is now added meaning only a specific part need to be changed to have it load the 07 page?

I'm pretty sure this is related to using a script that isn't setup for SMART8. You will need to go to the top of that script and change the

Are you absolutely sure you are using 8.0 and not 7.2 or 8.1? That line has no errors.. Perhaps update your include?
You can try replacing the corresponding line in your SmartParams.simba:
