Hello friends,

If you have downloaded the plugins zip previously, download it again. It contains fixes for both SMART and SPS.

This is the official release of Simba 0.99.

tl;dr: There have been tons of changes. Please try this release with the new plugins (see link below) and let us know if it works well enough. Once several persons have confirmed this works for them, I'm going to add Simba 990 to the auto updaters. I chose to release this as Simba 0.99 rather than Simba 0.99-rc7 because a real release gets the Simba developers a lot more feedback.

The most notable new things in this release is the new settings form, automatic (silent) updates, proper SRL updaters, support for the latest and great SMART (7.x). The thing I am most excited for myself is the much improved lape support. We have a SRL-5 lape branch somewhere that we'll try to merge in the main SRL repository soon, so that everyone can enjoy SRL in Lape as well. SMART and other plugins should work in Lape too. (Granted that you have the new plugins, I'll get back to that)

So basically, it should be possible to run your script in Lape. Which also means most Linux users can now run at least some basic scripts with SRL and SMART. Hooray!

To achieve all of this, we had to change a few things to the plugins. This resulted in new versions of all the current plugins. However, the new plugins will not function correctly in the OLD (pre 0.99) Simba, so it is pertinent that you update to 0.99. (Old plugins will work fine in Simba 0.99, but they won't work in Lape) The SRL updater extensions have also been changed in such a way that they will not compile with Simba 0.98. The solution is to simply upgrade to 0.99 and the extensions will compile again.

EDIT: All the updates have now been pushed.

So where do we go from here?

Why, Simba 1.0 of course! Simba 1.0's main goal is usability and the much (and particularly long) anticipated Script Manager. Hopefully we'll be able to squeeze some kind of Lape forms in it as well, but no promises to that. After Simba 1.0, we'll rewrite some of the core parts of Simba. That includes a much needed thread/process rewrite as well as hopefully a lot of cleanups in the UI. I'm not sure if this will be Simba 1.1 or 2.0. I'll probably go for 2.0 since we've surpassed the 2000 commits with this release!

Short list of changes since Simba 0.98:

  • Automatic Simba updates. (Can be disabled in the new Settings form)
  • Updated SRL updaters. (Will now properly install plugins when they are already in use)
  • DeleteFile, RenameFile added. (They are not sandboxed in Extensions)
  • SetPersistentMemory support in TMufasaBitmap. (For the new SMART)
  • FData is now exported for each TMufasaBitmap. This means you can directly access the memory from Lape and Plugins. You can also pass the FData pointer around in PascalScript. The type of FData differs per cpu. It's a 32 bit integer on 32 bit Simba, and a 64 bit integer on 64 bit Simba. (Just use a C ``long'')
  • Installer ships with PDF and HTML documentation. (See the folder Documentation/ in your Simba folder)
  • libFFI is statically linked in all Simba's except the 64 bit Windows one.
  • CPascal disabled. RUTIS and CPascal support will be removed from the source soon.
  • New Settings Form. (Tools -> Settings)
  • Linux now properly shows current active interpreter.
  • Linux mouse input now works properly again.
  • Plugin backend rework; support for multiple ABIs.
  • Support for plugins in lape.
  • Latest and greatest Lape. You can now run most SRL scripts on Linux and Windows. You just need to use the EIOS-capable smart.
  • Simba is portable by default. If a system wide install is required by some users, this can be arranged.
  • The non-portable version of Simba now respects user directories on both Windows and Unix (with XDG support).
  • More hash/cipher functions.
  • SQLite support. (If the sqlite3 library is available)
  • Major settings backend rework.
  • Added Version to Simba's UserAgent.
  • Support for JPG/PNG in TMufasaBitmap.SaveToFile (and in SaveBitmap)
  • Formatter extension to nicely format your scripts.
  • Examples/ directory.
  • SendKeys now also has keymodwait
  • onScriptOpen and onScriptStart hooks for extensions.
  • Crash logger. When something goes wrong, Simba will attempt to write a log to a file. You can then choose to keep running Simba or terminate it. (I feel this is the most experimental feature)
  • Initial support for loading a bitmap from clipboard in the bitmap convertor.

I haven't clicked on the links, but I bet they won't function. There is no way 0.99 has actually been released.

For the new SMART you simply need the plugins zip. Extract it in Plugins/

Then you have the latest SMART plugin. As for SRL integration, it may take a little while. I expect Simba 0.99 to go in the auto updater (that's when most people start using it) in a week, depending on the feedback. I decided against another release candidate because no one cares about those. ;)

Would it be possible to throw them in an IFDEF?

{$IFDEF SIMBAMAJOR990}
Writeln('Hello, Agent 990!');
{$ELSE}
Writeln('No Agent 990');
{$ENDIF}

That way people would have the changes now. :)

Hmmm SPS throws access violations left, right, and center.

EDIT: Nvm.. Just saw ur post edited. I'll post back if it doesn't work.

EDIT 2: SPS FilterMinimap throws errors constantly. So it still doesn't work well with SPS. Also found a bug with Smart but it has nothing to do with Simba. Smart's CreateFile Flags for windows aren't correct. But yeah SPS doesn't behave well with 0.99, dunno why.

What is the easiest way for me to recreate this? (What script, etc)

Indeed. I downloaded the plugins from your updated link. It loads and in the console it says v2 and everything.
Still throws.

Only thing I had to do was compile LibSmartRemote again inorder to get the LibSmartRemote32.exe since your plugins didn't have it. Complete reinstall did not fix it.
Also tried the plugins from ben's github + your SPS plugins.

Ah, it doesn't include the .exe's? That's ridiculously stupid of me. I'll build a new one with the .exe's in it.

I'm getting closer. But I'm not there yet. It seems to actually WORK in lape, but not in Pascalscript (randomly, actually…):

program new;
{$loadlib sps}

var a: integer;
b: TMufasaBitmap;
c: T3DIntegerArray;
begin
a:=CreateBitmap(100, 100);
b:=GetMufasaBitmap(a);
c := SPS_BitmapToMap(b, 5);
freebitmap(a);
end.

This was with a slightly never version of sps, but it shouldn't matter much. I'll upload that in a bit.

E: I PRESUME the solution is to simply pass the returning arrays as variable rather than result. But I have to verify this.
E2: Yep. It works once you have it return the result as a variable… This is ridiculous.

Brandon, please test this:

- sps.simba: https://github.com/SRL/SPS/blob/fcdc55964e2c8c1b73fd00a0b51b6bd2f46d7b9f/sps.simba
- plugin: http://old.villavu.com/merlijn/sps32.dll

I really appreciate your feedback.

Basically, I've changed made the result a variable for the two functions. Let me know if this works, please! :)

SMART and Java is not exactly my territory. You should ask Benland, probably. I think the question has been answered somewhere on the forum though, but I don't really know.

Works bro. You did a good job. I didn't know such a thing could happen lol (That Result vs. Variable thing; Awkward).

But yes that new SPS works 100% now. Tested loading and running 3 SPS scripts 5 times each. No more exception throwing; whereas the previous would throw pressing play.

@Sin the answer is yes it "can" be detected but it currently isn't since it's been like that for months and no bans yet.

All wizzup's plugins work with Smart and Simba now so there should be no problem when everything is pushed or added to the updater.

Great. I'll prepare a sps.simba update then I suppose. With some IFDEF's so users of 984 aren't bothered.

Thanks. :) It was actually a real PITA to do all this.

I've just pushed a sps update, use the sps updater to get it. Simba 984 users are unaffected, Simba 990 users will need the new (fixed) sps plugin.

Make sure to get plugins version 3.

Do you really want this? 100% sure? http://villavu.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1062432&postcount=8
We'd have to put back the smart wrappers..

If so then I'm online right now I'd just do:

{$IFDEF SIMBAMAJOR984}
//Include old smart stuff.
{$ELSE}
//everything new.
{$ENDIF}

Not 990 since I doubt anyone would be using anything below 984. AND this would require not having to update the include every major simba update. I had it in there before but took it out since there really would be no point to keeping the old way.. but there are those stubborn people -__-

We'd have to put back the smart wrappers..

If so then I'm online right now I'd just do:

{$IFDEF SIMBAMAJOR984}
//Include old smart stuff.
{$ELSE}
//everything new.
{$ENDIF}

Not 990 since I doubt anyone would be using anything below 984. AND this would require not having to update the include every major simba update. I had it in there before but took it out since there really would be no point to keeping the old way.. but there are those stubborn people -__-

I went for the IFDEF in SPS for two reasons:

  • To ease using Simba 0.99. If I didn't include the fix (it required sps.simba changes) in the SPS updater, people using 0.99 would have to manually download sps.simba, that's annoying.
  • On the other hand, I don't want to break the majority of people using 984. That's why I used the IFDEF.

Also, FYI. SIMBAMAJOR is either 980 or 990. SIMBA984 is for the people using 984.

Defines.Add('SIMBA' + IntToStr(SimbaVersion));
Defines.Add('SIMBAMAJOR' + IntToStr(SimbaMajor));

As for keeping the smart changes backwards compatible. I don't know. I'd say go for the define and remove it after a few weeks. At least this way you can get your work merged now and people can use it with Simba 0.99, rather than wait until we force everyone to use 990?

I've uploaded a plugins version 4 (doesn't change much, just a few names libsmart32.dll -> libsmart.dll and sps32.dll -> sps.dll).

Let me just take the opportunity to make everyone aware that they should disable the srl updater once the initial updates are in place. Then replace the plugins with the ones in the first post.

https://github.com/SRL/SRL-5/pull/46/files

Ahh took me a while to put all the defines. But since PaintSmart has too many drastic changes I had to make a different file (SmartGraphics.Simba). Reason being is that it has to use SetPersistentMemory for the bitmaps from pointers and requires TMufasaBitmaps whereas the old simba doesn't support that and it uses TBitmaps instead. Didn't touch the SRL updater.

I used {$IFDEF} in the other places. Maybe when everyone gets on 0.99, the two files for loading Smart 7.2 and painting on it can be renamed to their former names.

Now both Simba 0.98x and 0.99x can be ran successfully with no problems.

Loading Smart 7.2 just requires {$DEFINE SMART} and SetupSRL. Loading the old smart (v6.9 and below) requires {$DEFINE SMART} and the smart_server:= ## stuff.
No scripts will be broken. Though the old loading will still load with the incorrect parameters as it currently is.

I tried everything. Deleting everything. Installing stable simba, older 0.99, and this. Trying with default smart, 7.1 and 7.2. None of these works.
EDIT: when deleting, I reinstall + delete simba folder, so indcludes and settings goes away.

You don't have Simba 0.99. All you have to do is {$DEFINE SMART} and it will do the rest. Nothing to change for you.

If you're still on 0.984, this update does not affect you at all. If you updated to 0.99, that's the only time you'd have to make a change. And it's a two line change.

Don't worry. You're the first to post on the thread that successfully got everything working. Congrats on that.
Your script is fine. The error you're seeing is Smart's fault: https://github.com/BenLand100/SMART/issues/7

View my last comment on that post.
If Wizzup doesn't mind, ask him if he can post you a DLL with that suggestion until Ben fixes it. I don't wanna post one cause I don't want anyone saying that is has viruses.

Basically Change Line 192 of Smart/Remote/src/Local.cpp to OPEN_ALWAYS Instead of OPEN_EXISTING and recompile.

I think Ben is very busy so he never saw my suggestion :c

If a mod teamviewers me and watches me compile it then I'll post it.

If you are getting SmartGetDebugDC error then you do not have the right plugins.. You have to put the plugins in your folder yourself. The script will not do that for you.

I just Updated Simba to 99 and smart to 7.2, downloaded the plugin.zip en unzipped it in the plugins dir.

I also ran your Script Updater Brandon on two scripts I`m developing, but when I try to compile it now gives me this error:

[Error] C:\Simba\Includes\SRL\SRL\MISC\Paintsmart.simba(12:3): Duplicate identifier 'SMART_Canvas' at line 11
Compiling failed.

I have also Used your suggested Includes Brandon and just added majic and objdtm to it

{$i srl/srl/misc/debug.simba}
{$i sps/sps.simba}
{$I SRL/SRL/Skill/magic.simba}
{$i ObjectDTM/ObjDTMInclude.simba}

Can anyone give me an idea of where to look for the problem.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for your reply.

I got the plug-ins from here: https://github.com/MerlijnWajer/Simba/downloads

and this Simba download: http://nala.villavu.com/downloads/ma...i386-win32.exe

Are these two the ones I should be getting? Also I made sure I did not overwrite the plug-ins when updating.

[EDIT] Just did the same thing again and got a more detailed error:
Opening MSI...
[Error] C:\Simba\Includes\sps/sps.simba(304:53): Invalid number of parameters at line 303
Compiling failed.
[Error] C:\Simba\Includes\sps\sps.simba(43:35): Unknown identifier 'MMCX' at line 42

Please see the first post. Just read it, you'll find the link to the plugins there.

Note that using this version currently won't fix the show stopping issues we're currently experiencing.

I did read it and every post in this thread as well. . . Those are the same links I copy pasted, but I had to make sure.

Anyway, using those plug-ins does not let me compile. I also tried Brandon's method and it fail too.

You need the plugins from github. I link to a zip in the first post. They fix the ``wrong number of parameters''.

@Wizzup?

Hey. I keep getting this error:

[Error] C:\Simba99\Includes\sps\sps.simba(304:53): Invalid number of parameters at line 303
Compiling failed.

Now I have read that you said we don`t have the right plugins or that we have overwritten the plugins. So I decided to do everything over once more. Still no luck. So instead I decided to make a step by step account of what I did so that you can tell me where I go wrong.

First
I downloaded the installation file as well as the plugins.zip file as per post 1:

New plugins (zip or tar.bz2): [url]https://github.com/MerlijnWajer/Simba/downloads[/url] (Make sure you don't let the SRL updater Extension override them... )

Simba Installer (recommended): [url]http://nala.villavu.com/downloads/ma...i386-win32.exe[/url]

Second
I executed the installer

Third
I copied the plugins from the zip file directly into the plugins directory under simba.

Fourth
I started Simba up and enabled the extensions

Fith
I updated the extensions starting with SRL, when it asked me if it should overwrite the plugins I Denied that it should do so, I updated SPS and MSI

Sixth
I copied ObjDTM into the includes folder under Simba

Seventh
I ran Brandons Script Updater on the script I`m developing at the moment

Eighth
I tried Compiling the script, and received that error message at the top.

Now my question is, what do I do wrong? According to me I followed the advice in the first post.

I have even tried these scenarios, by copying the plugins once more from the zip file to the plugins directory under simba overwriting the ones in it.

Still no dice.

Uninstalled simba

Deleted the directory, going through steps one to sixth. Make changes to smart includes within my script by taking out paintsmart.simba and enabling smartgraphics.simba

Included the IFDEF from brandons script manually to the smart settings in the script.

Try Compiling and get the same error.

The only thing I can think of that might be wrong is that the SPS.Simba file is not the correct file. That somehow it does not update this specific file. If so, where can I download the correct SPS.Simba file that will work with this current version of simba which is 99?

Thanks for the help.

E. In Brandons Script Updater there is this procedure:

Procedure UpdateSPS;
var
Page: String;
Handle: Integer;
begin
if (SimbaVersion = 990) then
begin
if (FileExists('C:/Simba/Includes/SPS/SPS.Simba')) then
begin
Page := GetPage(SPSURL);
if DeleteFile('C:/Simba/Includes/SPS/SPS.Simba') then
begin
Handle := CreateFile('C:/Simba/Includes/SPS/SPS.Simba');
if WriteFileString(Handle, Page) then
WriteLn('SPS.Simba File Updated.');
CloseFile(Handle);
end;
end else
WriteLn('SPS.Simba Does Not Exist.');
end else
WriteLn('Nothing To Update: Simba 980');
end;

This is to update the sps.simba file. I really think this is where the problem is, that the sps.simba file is not the correct version that I have or receive. Maybe something goes wrong with the transfer or it gets corrupted in some way.

E. Ok, I fixed the first error. I was correct about the sps file, it was not updated as my path where simba is located was not the same as the original path, but now i receive this error in objectdtminclude.simba

Error] C:\Simba99\Includes\objectdtm/objdtminclude.simba(217:3): Duplicate identifier 'T2DStringArray' at line 216
Compiling failed.

So I guess this file also needs to be updated for the new smart 7.2. Where can I find this file in the updated form for smart 7.2?

Appreciate all help. Thanks

E. This is the last edit.

This problem is not related to simba 99 so I would like to apologize for asking help here. For anyone after me who has the same issue please go to this thread for the solution to the objectdtm http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=68112

Wizzup?

2012-07-13 06:45:47

The invalid number of parameters is definitely caused by an old sps plugin, it could be that it overrode your plugins anyway, so you can try to re-instate the plugins from the zip. As for the error in the ObjDTM include, I think you should ask euphemism. :)

I am getting this error when trying to use a auto-cooking script:

I have one hell of a time after installing Simba 99. Nothing wants to work correctly.:eek:

I get this error when trying to compile a script I`m busy writing.

[Error] C:\Simba99\Includes\SRL/SRL/MISC/SMARTGRAPHICS.SIMBA(13:3): Duplicate identifier 'SMART_Canvas' at line 12
Compiling failed.

Now a duplicate means somewhere this variable was already declared, if I Comment it out as it was already declared then I receive this error.

[Error] C:\Simba99\Includes\SRL\SRL\MISC\SMARTGRAPHICS.SIMBA(25:3): Unknown identifier 'SMART_Canvas' at line 24
Compiling failed.

Now it does not know what Smart_Canvas is??????? :duh: If Smart_Canvas was declared, how can it not know what it is? :confused:

I just don`t know how to get past simba99. Everything is just wrong after installing it. This error takes place just after calling SMARTGRAPHICS.SIMBA

Can someone give me advice about this. I think it is related to simba99.

Thanks in advance

If I were either of you, I'd do this:

1) Uninstall your current simba
2) Download the new simba from Wizzup?'s link in the original post (found here, or directly here)
3) Remove the plugins in your current simba plugins folder; then download (from the main post, found in step 2) the .zip for new plugins and replace the ones you just removed with the newly downloaded ones.
4) Setup simba (extensions, etc.) and you should be up and running

That's all I did (iirc) to obtain 0.99. #read #SRLcommunity<3 #win
Hope that helps

The plugin's folder, "/Simba/Plugins/" should have a file, "irokiplugin" installed with the simba… try deleting your files, (if any remain in C:\Simba after you uninstall - (save the script/includes you may have found/obtained/etc.)) in C:\Simba yourself, then re-installing, as irokiplugin should come with simba..

If what I'm suggesting is confusing/wrong/etc. then you shouldn't try this.

I haven't been able to find a solution for the whole 'Exception in Script: Plugin(libsmartremote32) has not been found' anywhere, nor do I know where to find the file myself. Is it supposed to be included in the installation of .99 Simba or is it supposed to be in the MerjilinWater plug-in download? Because I searched the entire .zip of plug-ins and didn't find that file anywhere, and I have uninstalled and redownloaded Simba at least 4 times now trying to get that file somehow. I'm not sure where I can get it, but it's the only thing I'm missing as of now, I haven't had any other errors up to this point.

Basically check your plugins folder. If you don't see that located in there, then check the main post, read it, and place the updated .zip contents over your current plugins. Other viable options; waiting it out/reading up.

Why would you want multiple client running in .99? afaik, you can pair clients per tabs opened in one client. More info here: http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=84334

Any chance, that when resizing Simba as a whole, that the icons can collapse with the re-size to fit the re-sized Simba like the options do? For example:

(These icons just stay on a straight line, and are hidden when minimizing.)

(Perhaps they might replicate the same as the options, as shown below?)

If not, it's no bid deal, I could see how it could take up too much height-wise of the screen.

im getting this error :(,

\Simba\Includes\sps/sps.simba(304:53): Invalid number of parameters at line 303

sorry im new, what did i do wrong?

I don't think SPS has been updated to co-exist with this latest SRL update afaik(correct me if I'm wrong..)

Also, for most invalid number of parameters errors you will need to get the updated plugins. Which if you use the ones Brandon just posted here then you should be able to run some scripts without any quickfix methods or anything like that.

I'm currently 4hrs into running a fletching script with no alterations(only edited to work with new sixhourfix etc) just by completely updating my SRL and using the plugins Brandon posted.

Replace ur SPS with that and u'll be fine. U won't get parameter crap.

Going to guess you mean the SMART folder from the github link. You need to move all of the plugins inside that folder into you plugins folder at Simba/plugins (obviously copy and replace the duplicates).

This is a problem, yeah. Can you file a bug for this? :)

I have found a "gehtto" fix for the pair issue that seems to work that may alleviate some of our pain until this bug is stomped out.

Lets say you are running 3 bots… we will call them fred 1, fred 2, and fred 3.

Our Freds are all running script X…. lets say you have three copies of X in the folder with each of the three copies assigned to one of our Freds. When you launch each Fred, a file corresponding to their launching appears…in a perfect world we would end up with three…however with the pair issue we get one of more hijacked by this bug.

How to fix: place each copy of X script for fred 1 through 3 in SEPERATE subfolders…. and then create a shortcut for each copy of Fred's X (1, 2, and 3) and move it back to up to the main script X folder…. be sure there are NO real scripts in this "launching" folder now, only in the subfolders.

Now when you launch Fred 1, Fred 2, and Fred 3…the file corresponding to their smart is in their individual folder which seems to prevent the Pair bug from hijacking your other running scripts instances of Smart.

Im Newb, so I hope that this was helpful to those of you also experiencing this until this bug is killed off once and for all!

Already found it ,but well when you edited something in one script you have to copy it to other scripts… :/

Simba's 'Find next(text)' in the script, has a problem. I highlight a word in the script area and right click it then click 'find next (F3)' it will just jump to the top of the whole script. Also when choosing 'Replace', it will not replace the word thats highlight, instead it replaces the next (same word) after the highlighted one.
