Object DTMs: A Walking/Positioning System
euphemism

-Object DTMs-
-A walking and positioning system-
- Please note, this is very outdated. -
The Object DTM Include is an include file developed to offer an easy and accurate way to walk and position your Runescape character.
An Object DTM is a set of sub-points anchored to a main-point, with an optional defined area polygon. The sub-points are objects found on the minimap, such as:
Here is a screenshot showing an Object DTM being debugged on-screen:
The green circles indicate sub-points. This particular Object DTM has two trees, and two ladders as sub-points. The red polygon is the defined area polygon that is a part of this particular Object DTM. If this Object DTM is found on the minimap, the position of the area polygon will be immediately known, relative to the Object DTM. This means that you can define an Object DTM for specific areas, and easily know if you are in the area.
The include features:
- - Finding an Object DTM, like a normal DTM
- - Walking to a single point
- - Walking a path
- - Able to check if player is within a very precise area
- - Works with the compass rotated
- - Fast, and not heavy on the CPU
A Couple of Notes:How To Install!——————————————-
- Download 'ObjectDTM.sex' at the bottom of this post.
- Move the file to 'Simba/Extensions'. ("Simba" being the install location of Simba. On windows, usually at "C:\")
- If you have Simba open, close it.
- Open Simba.
- go to 'View>Extensions'.
- enable 'ObjectDTM.sex'.
- go to 'ODTM>Check For Update'.
- if it says "No ODTM update available", then go to ODTM > Settings > and check the 'Override Update' option
- after that is done, go to ODTM > Update.

How Do I Utilize This Include in My Scripts?I'm glad you asked! Please

Revision Log:
-Version 00.1: New host, courtesy of [J]ustin. As a result, the version number
has been reset.
Added ferns to list of useable minimap objects (MM_FERN).
Updated NPC dot record due to reports of NPC occasionally failing
to be located.
-Version 10.3: Made compatible with newest SMART and changes within SRL.
-Version 10.2: Optimised object-finding code and fixed a bug that could have
been the root cause of many false positives. Removed the
'T2DStringArray' type declaration as it was for an older planned
revision of the include, future plans now do not include
multi-dimensional strings, and it was causing duplicate errors.
Improved the ground level check.Fixed certain coordinates in the
Generation Tool that have been affected by the addition of a
toolbar at the top of the RS client. Removed 'ObjectDebug', as
it is obsolete. Changed the include lines at the top,
$DEFINEPAINT is no longer needed.
Sorry for the lack of updates this year, am trying to get back
on track with this and hope to be producing some exciting
features soon.
-Version 10.0: Updated the minimap object record for dead trees (MM_DEADTREE).
Fixed the bug in 'ObjDTM_WalkPath' when the first node was not
found and the include threw an out-of-range error.
Added three new global variables: 'ObjDTM_TextDebug',
'ObjDTM_XRand', and 'ObjDTM_YRand'. By default,
'ObjDTM_TextDebug' is set to false, and the include will rarely,
if ever, write something to the debug box. After calling
'ObjDTM_Setup' in your script, you can set this to true in order
to restore text debugging. 'ObjDTM_XRand' and 'ObjDTM_YRand' are
integers that specify the randomness with which the include will
click at the main-point of an Object DTM. By default, these
values are set to 2. After calling 'ObjDTM_Setup' in your script,
you can set these to determine click randomness.
-Version 9.9: Added the function 'ObjDTM_WalkPath'. The include now
contains a function to easily walk paths contained within
TStringArrays. Tweaked minimap object record for ladders
to account for the strange half-ladders that crop up on
occasion. Removed the function 'ObjDTM_Generate' and removed
the function 'ObjDTM_PathRecorder' these two have been
rendered obsolete with the new generation tool shipped with
the include. 'FindObjDTM' and 'ObjDTMWalk' will be removed
in the next version. If they are being used in your scripts
please update to use 'ObjDTM_Find' and 'ObjDTM_Walk' instead.
-Version 9.8: Added 'Delete ODTM' button to tool, adding ability to
delete and clear the current Object DTM.
-Version 9.7: Fixed form bugs in generation tool.
-Version 9.6: The generation tool is now part of the 'ODTM' menu, for
ease of access.
-Version 9.5: Added NPC dots to list of useable minimap objects (MM_NPC).
Please note that only stationary NPC's, like bankers, should
be used. Created a new generation tool. Super exciting.
Please see:
'Simba/Includes/ObjectDTM/Object DTM Generation Tool.simba'
So far, only the 'Single' tab, and the 'Path' tab are
functional. These two will allow you to make single Object
DTMs, and paths.
-Version 9.4: Fancy hackish stuff implemented to switch people over to
new extension without having to manually download.
-Version 9.3: Stopped scripters from crashing script when trying
to use area-related methods with an Object DTM with
no area information. Fixed the Minimap Object Record for
Cactus (MM_CACTUS). The include should now be useable
in the desert.
Phased out 'InObjDTMArea', use 'ObjDTM_InArea'
Phased out 'GenerateObjDTM', use 'ObjDTM_Generate'
Would like to:
Phased out 'LoadObjects' and 'SetupODTMI', use 'ObjDTM_Setup'
Phased out 'ObjDTMWalk', use 'ObjDTM_Walk'
Phased out 'FindObjDTM', use 'ObjDTM_Find'
-Version 9.2: Added extension updater! Hooray!
-Version 9.1: Removed SRL4 support since SRL5 is now standard.
New on-SMART guide for generation tool.
Fixed duplicate identifier errors.
-Version 8.9: Fixed a bug that caused 'ObjDTM_Walk' to be more
unreliable than it would otherwise be. Commenting out
Multi Object DTM related code until I can properly fix it.
-Version 8.8: Added the ability to delete sub-points while using
the 'ObjDTM_Generate' function. Added 'ObjDTM_PathRecorder',
which allows you to easily create paths.
-Version 8.7: Bug fix to 'ObjDTMToString', bug caused the area to be
nulled. Added the 'ObjDTM_Generate' function. This is a new
interactive Object DTM generation tool. You need SRL5 to use it.
-Version 8.6: Support for SRL5 added.
-Version 8.5: More small bug fixes/speed improvements, the function additions
in Version 8 still aren't really functional. Sorry :/. Added
'ObjDTM_InAreaEx' Which allows you to specify a specific point to
check to see if it is in the Object DTM's area. There is now
paint debugging, useable by setting the variable
'ObjDTM_Debug' to true in the setup of your script.
Trying to standardize the names of everything. Not there yet.
-Version 8: bug fix in finding function. Overall speed improvements. Added
'Multi-Object DTMs' which allow for multiple Object DTMs to be
defined in a string array, to use in the same way as single
Object DTMs, but if one fails, the code will try the next. Path-
walking function. All of these additions are untested. Will
try to get testing done soon. So this update is mostly for
the bug fix/speed improvement. But feel free to try the new stuff.
Haven't added comments, code is messy, real sorry about all of
this. Will be resolved in Rev 8.1.
Added:
ObjDTM_MultiWalk;
ObjDTM_InMultiArea;
ObjDTM_PathWalk;
ObjDTM_InAreaEx;
None of which are really functional at the moment, except ObjDTM_InAreaEx.
-Version 7.8: Changed the single use of SplitTPAEx to SplitTPAExWrap, as
I heard that it can cause memory leaks?
-Version 7.7: Changed a few things with how updates work. Now has the
ability to force a roll-back in case I broke something.
-Version 7.4/5/6: Changing naming convention for ease-of-updating purposes.
Switched to new numbering system to facilitate move towards
auto-installation and updating. Include installer now attached
to bottom of project post. The include should now auto-update
whenever a script using it is run.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Rev7c: Updated minimap object record for boulders (MM_BOULDER), it never
got updated with the rest of the records in Rev 5. Fixed a small
issue with the minimap object record for ladders (MM_LADDER), causing
ladder finding to fail on rare occasions. Realized that main-point
tracking in the walking function was never implemented- now actually
functional. Added a check to catch if a script writer has failed
to call "LoadObjects" before using code from the include.
-Rev7b: Fixed a bug in the 'ObjDTMToString' and 'ObjDTMFromString' functions that resulted in an out-of-range error.
-Rev7a: Added maple trees, and rocks to list of useable minimap objects
(MM_MAPLE), (MM_ROCK).
-Rev 7: Added cacti to list of useable minimap objects (MM_CACTUS).
Fixed a rather grievous oversight on my part, and made sure that
SMART related code isn't actually compiled if SMART isn't defined
in the script. Added the rather verbosely-named
'PrintObjDTMRecFromString' This allows you to pass an Object DTM
in string-form, and have the record form print out in the debug.
This makes it easy to change the contents of string-form Object DTMs.
-Rev 6: Added the henge object (stone circle columns) to list of useable
minimap objects (MM_HENGE). Implemented polygonal areas.
Convex/Concave polygons can now be defined for Object DTM areas,
allowing for very specific area boundaries.
-Rev 5: I think color-finding has been improved in this revision, meaning
from now on the finding of objects is less likely to break.
-Rev 4: Added the function 'PointInPolygon' which now allows for accurate
implementation of the 'InObjDTMArea' function.
-Rev 3a: couple of bug fixes. The 'InObjDTMArea' function is now somewhat
operational.
-Rev 3: Added the functions 'ObjDTMFromString' and 'ObjDTMToString' these
supplement the new, more compact string-form of Object DTMs. Updated
minimap object records for trees, ladders, and plants. All functions and
procedures now require the string-form of Object DTMs to be passed.
Alternatively, you can put ObjDTMToString(ObjectDTM) in place of the string.
-Rev 2: Fixed minimap object record for dead trees. Added first version of
the Object DTM generator.
-Rev 1: Basic functionality to assist in the creation of Object DTMs, can find
Object DTMs at any angle, and includes a simple walking function, and
location check.
Current Revision number is: 00.1 (1)

Looks good! :) DTMs are very reliable way to walk.
When it comes to positioning in larger scale, it can harldly be used to find yourself in the whole rs world.
I've tried this and found it's too slow and unreliable when there aren't usable object around.
Used individually in scripts though, this looks great!

Thanks :) the core is TPA-based, though. The DTM-like aspect comes into play after the objects are found and identified. The code checks the center point and type of object when comparing. Meaning, as long as it reliably finds the objects, it is less likely to fail, compared to an actual DTM.
E: yes, I don't think it would scale well. However, the farthest distance I have tested so far is walking from the Lumbridge courtyard to the Varrock west bank.
E2: Also, speed hasn't been an issue, as it is quite fast.

Ha looks good, euphemism. I made a prototype DTM walker and I used just regular DTMs printed from the DTM editor. I also uses MM objects as the subpoints, but I always had problems when NPCs/Items/Players/symbols would obstruct the object on the MM. Also because I used DTMRotated to find the points sometimes it would give inaccurate results.
I look forward to seeing how you did it! Great job, in either case.

Looks great, I'm gonna give it a try and see what I come up with. :)
By the way to clarify my DTM walker was just regular DTMs with the parent point having a super high tolerance and each subpoint only used a single color from objects on the MM.

Could you point me to where it is located? I found path.scar, but I am not sure that is what you are referencing.
Updated to Revision 4a, Improved accuracy of 'PointInPolygon', base code to allow for polygon areas added. Updated minimap record for ladders.

Hmmm, okay. It does have a few interesting things in it. Do you have any suggestions to add to this project?
E: Revision 5 is out! The object-finding function the entire include relies on should now be much more reliable (colors would occasionally break and need updating. This should happen much less often now). An example path script has been uploaded for you to test! Walks from the Lumbridge courtyard to the Varrock West Bank.
E2: Released Revision 6. Added the henge object (stone circle columns) to list of useable minimap objects (MM_HENGE). Implemented polygonal areas. Convex/Concave polygons can now be defined for Object DTM areas, allowing for very specific area boundaries.
It would be nice to have more feedback so that I don't have to keep deleting and re-posting this post :/

Bro. I think you may have finally made it possible to solve Dungeoneering mazes.
I think you will find there is a lack of these objects on the minimap when doing dungeoneering, not to mention that dungeons are dynamically created every time you start one. That means that object DTMs are not really applicable for dungeoneering: however, what is it you are finding difficult with navigating a dungeon?

E: points are automatically rotated to account for compass direction. If the compass related code is still broken, the finding function may have problems finding the object DTMs.

Wouldn't it be even possible to make a script to automatically generate ObjectDTM's with this?
Like this:
1) MoveMouse to the position you want to walk
2) Press f1
3) DTM created and printed to String.
Sounds awsome. Too bad there are no Objects everywhere.

I think you will find that there is always at least one object, somewhere.
Currently, I have a generating function where you specify a main point, and visible objects for sub-points, and it picks objects, and generates one for you, and prints out the string . If you nest it in the walking function, you can generate one and walk to it in one go, ready to make the next one. I am going to improve it so you specify the number of sub-points, and how many unique objects to use. Finding the mouse's position would be an option, but would have to be done in the browser.

Yes, that's the idea, it is made to be modular. I am about to add a few more. Test runs are good!
E: Small revision increase to 7a:
- Added maple trees, and rocks to list of useable minimap objects

This brings the number of objects to 10, which, at quick glance, seems to cover almost everywhere.

I can't seem to get it working. The object debug returns all the objects on the screen, the generate object function spits out the string, and when I put it into the walking function, it returns "can't find DTM". I left my character standing still for the whole process, and still it won't recognize it. The generate object tested it and it checked out each time.
Is there something I'm messing up here?

Hey I retried it, and it turns out that I had groundlevel set to false, which was causing the trouble. But, I still can't get the accuracy that I want out of what I am trying to do. Is there a way to pick individual trees instead of the generate function that picks for you? The problem is that the area requires DTMs only using dead trees…
euphemism
2011-12-06 01:16:59
Sure, call GenerateObjDTMSkeleton() and set AreaBox to false, because that is out-dated now, and I haven't updated the function. Copy out the debug information into your script. The line "with x do", change x to the name you want, and make sure you declare that as a variable:
var
Name: ObjDTM;
Then call ObjectDebug(MM_DEADTREE);
replace the sub-point definitions in the skeleton with the ones in the debug that you want. Use ObjectDTMToString(Name) when you want to find it, or do that and writeln the result, and just store it as a string. I am sorry that it is so difficult, I need to write a set of tutorials, and some better methods for generating them.

Hey man, I downloaded the new versions and tried it out. I had to update a few lines in the LumbridgeToVarrock.simba to get it to compile. Here's the updated version:

It failed compiling? What caused that? Also, I can't imagine why it would throw an access violation. :/ This is upsetting. Did you try running it again?
Kyle Undefined

Yeah, every time the script finished running it would cause it and Simba would crash.
As for the compiling, on the first line of your "Points" var, right before the comma, you had
Points := ['.....'', '...']
and it was throwing an error because the string wasn't formatted correctly.

I see. Well thank you. I fixed the test script so that it compiles now. I will have to look into why it is crashing for you, though.

Huh, I don't think it's your script. Noticed something. It only does it after I close SMART. It ran much smoother too.
One thing I'm confused about is, as I watched it click the points, it seemed to click on points that were no where near one of the DTMs. Can you explain, or break it down?

Ah, yes, I get that sometimes as well, when I close SMART. Did it make it to the bank? What do you mean when you say it seemed to click on points nowhere near one of the DTMs?
Kyle Undefined

Yeah, it made it to the bank just fine.
Like, and maybe I'm just confused on how this actually works, when it was heading north past the cows in lumby, it clicked on the path to go straight up. Then, when it got to the break in the wall, it clicked next to the field, yet there were none of the objects near that area that are defined on the first post.
Make any sense? Lol.

I think I understand what you mean. When you generate an object DTM, it is made up of sub-points, which are objects on the minimap, and a main-point, which is a coordinate you define. As long as all the sub-points are visible, the code should be able to walk to the main-point. Meaning, when I made the object DTM for that particular spot, it was made using the plants that are around the minimap center, but the main-point was very far up, near the edge of the minimap.
Kyle Undefined
2011-12-06 23:10:04
Ahhh, so it the trees, bushes, etc are subpoints not main points. I was thinking it clicked on the objects themselves. Ha, wow, that's simple to understand now lol. Thanks, gonna play around with it.

Sure, call GenerateObjDTMSkeleton() and set AreaBox to false, because that is out-dated now, and I haven't updated the function. Copy out the debug information into your script. The line "with x do", change x to the name you want, and make sure you declare that as a variable:
var
Name: ObjDTM;
Then call ObjectDebug(MM_DEADTREE);
replace the sub-point definitions in the skeleton with the ones in the debug that you want. Use ObjectDTMToString(Name) when you want to find it, or do that and writeln the result, and just store it as a string. I am sorry that it is so difficult, I need to write a set of tutorials, and some better methods for generating them.
Updated the "LumbridgeToVarrock.simba" file to fix an out-of-range error that I assume everyone who has downloaded it has been getting.
Thank you for the reply. I'm gonna mess around with it now, but probably won't be able to do anything with it until after finals next week.
Doesn't sound that hard, but yes a tutorial would be a nice idea. I'll let you know how it goes.

Released Revision 7c. Updated minimap object record for boulders (MM_BOULDER), it never got updated with the rest of the records in Rev 5. Fixed a small issue with the minimap object record for ladders (MM_LADDER), causing ladder finding to fail on rare occasions. Realized that main-point tracking in the walking function was never implemented- now actually functional. Added a check to catch if a script writer has failed to call "LoadObjects" before using code from the include.
Revision 8 shouldn't be too far away, and should introduce some exciting new features like being able to define an object DTM as a set of multiple object DTMs, so that when finding it, if one of the object DTMs is not found, it will try the next one. Should increase reliability in instances where there are many dots on the minimap. Also coming will be support for paths, with a path-walking function that will run through the points in the path, starting with the last one, and walk to the furthest visible one.
E: Standardized name for the download. Regardless of revision from now on, the latest revision download will be titled 'ObjDTMInclude'. Please see the section titled "A Couple of Notes" for information about this.

This is an include file, it is not a stand-alone script. You have to include it in your script at the top, under the rest of the include statements like so:
{$i ObjectDTM\ObjDTMInclude.simba}From there you can use the functions and procedures within your script.

Yes you can use objdtms to identify a location by specifying an area polygon in the dtm definition. So basically you'll be saying, there is two trees over there, and a rock. I should be x distance from each with some tolerance on that distance. See
Euphemism's Bouvine Extractor for examples of using objdtm areas. I dont think any tutorials have been posted yet.

Got rid of the unused variable ;). That error usually means you forgot to call "LoadObjects" at the beginning of your script, which I renamed to "SetupODTMI" which I renamed to "ObjDTM_Setup" any of those will work, currently, but I would suggest using "ObjDTM_Setup".

I need to stay more on top of keeping this thread updated. New stuff, some of it really exciting. I think the ObjDTM_Generate function will please a lot of people. I would appreciate feedback on it. Will try to get tutorials done soon.

Is this to be opened up as if opening up DTM Editor? Like an Extension?
Or does it just process everything via functions/procedures to get the ObjDTM String in Debug?
Does this work in SRL4? or just 5?

The error is in the ObjDTmInclude.simba script.

This is an include file. Once you run the installer, you should have the include at 'Simba/Includes/ObjectDTM/ObjDTMInclude.simba'. You have to include it in a script in order to use it. So no, it is not like an extension. Yes, everything is done with functions/procedures.
This currently supports both SRL4 and SRL5, but since SRL4 is officially phased out, the next update will not include support for SRL4.
Questions are good, I don't mind.

Yes, yes. I copied the paintsmart procedures that were just committed into the include some time ago, because they were taking so long to be committed. Should all be fixed up now.
Also, with version 91 comes a new on-SMART guide for the generation tool, which will hopefully help make the generation a little easier. Clicking is now supported for SMART as opposed to hitting keys to add a sub-point, area vertex, or main-point.

That is because you still don't have the extension, which installs the include. Please see above response for fix.
I keep getting this error:
Error: Out Of Range at line 444
the error is in the objdtminclude
But i only get the error if i am in the area with the dtm.
If i am not in the area with the dtm the script just ends.
Setup;
Path := ['609:89:3:3:7:640:40:1:7:568:113:1:7:554:69',
'609:89:3:3:7:640:41:1:7:569:113:1:7:554:68'];
GenerateObjDTM([MM_PLANT, MM_TREE, MM_TREE],609,89,false,true);
//wait(10000);
If ObjDTM_InArea(Path[0],true) then
writeln('yeehaa');
How can i make this work?
~Fre
ObjDTM_InArea still does not work for me.
But i am able to make a walk a path.
But it seems that DTMs on MM change too.
Like it can't always find the boulder or the ladders. (ladders are sometimes only shown half)
So i guess DTMs should be adjusted to those changes.
Any idea how this can be done?
EDIT1:
Here is my fix for the half ladders(32 points /2 = 16).
change AvgNumOfPoints := 32;
to
AvgNumOfPoints := 32;
with Ladder do
begin
Color := 602202; CTS := 1; Tol := 7;
SplitSizeX := 2; SplitSizeY := 2;
AvgNumOfPoints := 16; AvgTol := 14;
end;
EDIT2/
But then i don't work for the ladders that didn't change (ladder with 32 points (full ladders)).
It should be someting like
if not find DTM then
AvgNumOfPoints div 2;
try again;

Your Object DTM does not have an area defined. Therefore, you can't use area-related methods with that particular Object DTM. I will have a tutorial out in a bit explaining everything.

I think there is a GetRealMousePos function somewhere, that returns the actual mouse position even when using smart used for paint so you can mouse over things.
From: euphemism
I think you will find there is a lack of these objects on the minimap when doing dungeoneering, not to mention that dungeons are dynamically created every time you start one. That means that object DTMs are not really applicable for dungeoneering: however, what is it you are finding difficult with navigating a dungeon?
What would be a good way to navigate a dungeon?

This is not relevant to my thread, please post somewhere more relevant.
Version 9.4 is out, this version will phase out the current extension and replace it with a new one that points to a new domain.

That depends. If you are walking to that spot, then yes, that is the right idea. If you performed a check for the area with 'ObjDTM_InArea' it would return false because the player, the minimap center, is not within the area.

This is an issue with GetRealMousePos, and happens with certain Windows installations, and when you run Simba in WINE. I've got a solution to your problem though, a new form-based generation tool! :) :
The 'Multi' and 'Multi-path' tabs aren't yet operational. Those are a surprise. ;) However, the tool supports the creation of single Object DTMs, and paths. Please give it a go, I need feedback!
-Version 9.5: Added NPC dots to list of useable minimap objects (MM_NPC).
Please note that only stationary NPC's, like bankers, should
be used.
Created a new generation tool. Super exciting.
Please see:
'Simba/Includes/ObjectDTM/Object DTM Generation Tool.simba'
So far, only the 'Single' tab, and the 'Path' tab are
functional. These two will allow you to make single Object
DTMs, and paths.
Thanks boi ill try it out…

With version 9.6, the generation tool is now a part of the 'ODTM' menu in Simba's toolbar. Hopefully this makes it easier to access. :)
E: 9.7 bug fix, 9.8 adds the 'Delete ODTM' button to the tool, so that you can delete the current Object DTM being edited.

Correct. Though, when there is an update the extension should grab it after a while. 'Check for Update' will grab an update if there is one.

Oh and yes, of course, REPPPP'd.
Thanks much. I actually made test paths to and from the frogs, and they work well. ;)
Also of note, Version 9.9 (99) has been released, including a fix for the half-ladders glitching into existence that some people have mentioned. A path-walking function has finally been implemented, and I removed the functions 'ObjDTM_Generate', and 'ObjDTM_PathRecorder' as the new generation tool has replaced them.
Scripters: If you are still using 'FindObjDTM', 'ObjDTMWalk', or 'LoadObjects' in your scripts, please change them to 'ObjDTM_Find', 'ObjDTM_Walk', and 'ObjDTM_Setup' respectively. The older functions will be removed in the next update.
-Version 9.9: Added the function 'ObjDTM_WalkPath'. The include now
contains a function to easily walk paths contained within
TStringArrays. Tweaked minimap object record for ladders
to account for the strange half-ladders that crop up on
occasion. Removed the function 'ObjDTM_Generate' and removed
the function 'ObjDTM_PathRecorder' these two have been
rendered obsolete with the new generation tool shipped with
the include. 'FindObjDTM' and 'ObjDTMWalk' will be removed
in the next version. If they are being used in your scripts
please update to use 'ObjDTM_Find' and 'ObjDTM_Walk' instead.

Thank you, learned a lot from this tutorial. I'm implementing this in my little "future release" script. Once you move the .sex file to your extensions, close up simba and open a new one. It should be working then.

Will do. So, should probably let everyone know what is going on with version 10.0:
- Will be adding Multi-Object DTMs
- Will be adding Multi-Object DTM Paths
- Will add filtering for minimap dots in the object finding code to help remedy covered objects.
- Removing 'ObjDTMWalk', and 'FindObjDTM'. They have been replaced with 'ObjDTM_Walk', and 'ObjDTM_Find'.
- Because there is now a unified tool for making Object DTMs, I will be removing the 'GroundLevel' parameter from the functions, as the property will be able to be built into the Object DTMs. Unfortunately because of this, all current Object DTMs will break; however, the fix will be easy.
- Text debug will be optional, just as the paint debug is.

Step one) Download "ObjectDTM.sex" from the first post.
Step two) Wherever you downloaded it to, copy (or cut) it
Step three) Open your main Simba folder (Probably C:/Simba) and open up the "Extensions" folder inside there and inside that folder paste your "ObjectDTM.sex"
Step four) Close out Simba (if you still have it open) and restart it

- Move the file to 'Simba/Extensions'.
- If you have Simba open, close it.
- Open Simba.
- go to 'View>Extensions'.

The script works..however it will take an inventory full of flax and once it only spins two flax it will go back to bank (with 26 of the flax not even spun).
How do I fix this? :)
This happens when I level up..I think the script thinks that I leveled up and thus it should return to the bank? Not entirely sure.
NVM I found out how to fix it..just make sure your game filter isn't showing the level up messages and stuff…(the lowest setting is filter), so I just click on clan chat or something else so it just doesn't show at all.

To move it you simply find the Simba file ( Usually found in C: ) go to the folder called "Extensions" and drag it into there. ALL steps needed are found on the first post if you read the entire post instead of hopping into it without know what you're doing. :duh:

How To Install!
——————————————-
- Download 'ObjectDTM.sex' at the bottom of this post.
Only way he could have possibly made this any more simple for you is to do it for you.

It looks like the extension failed to successfully download the remote version of itself off of the server, and so overwrote itself with a bad copy. I have implemented some fail-safes to prevent this from happening in the future, but you will have to re-download the extension attached to the first post to get this fix, as your copies are corrupt.
As for version 10.0 of the include, I have been side-tracked as of late, but I do hope to have that finished relatively soon.

Awesome job Euphemism–this is a great tool:)
Could you add a minimap object for the new bloodwood trees in the wilderness in the next update? They're basically an off red circle on the otherwise black minimap in the wilderness so they'd be a great identifying object!
+rep
Edit: The ObjDTM also seems unable to currently find dead trees in the wilderness (e.g. they don't show up on the finder, might be elsewhere as well)–probably due to the same bloodwood tree update. I think they slightly changed the silhouette of dead trees with this past update.

Are bloodwood trees a frequent occurrence in the game now? Jagex did indeed alter the dead tree colors, and they should now be updated and working again.

See above response.
This update has not brought with it the features I have planned on account of me not having the time to get them implemented. However, the changelog is as follows:
Archaic

Awesome–thank you for the quick update! It's nice to see my paths working again haha:p
Bloodwood trees are in set positions through out the wilderness (there's also one by soul wars and by the edgeville lodestone too, both of which would be useful for positioning!) so perhaps they would be a good extra object to add if you have the time sometime:)
edit: the added randomness is also pretty cool!
edit:edit: On a separate thought, if you consider adding bloodwood trees as an object, would you also consider adding the red "drop on ground" dots as an object? Like the NPC object there are some that are always in the same spot, so it would also be a useful object. It would add another level of position finding in certain dungeons where ladders and those red drop dots are all that are on screen!

Make sure SMART is enabled and that you have selected the client. If you open the Generation Tool and decide to comment out SMART with a '//' the you must select the
entire client with the red box - nothing should get in the way.
Also, make sure when you select the client the Runescape window doesn't flash black, it might not work.

Excuse me, where exactly does that indicate an error with my include? That screenshot clearly shows an error in the certer's random solver. This was due to a bad push by a dev to the SRL repo; you need to update SRL.
As for those having issues updating, it looks like maybe you have firewalls preventing Simba from accessing where the include is hosted. Maybe check on that and post results.
My ODTM Version is '101' which apparently is the latest version and all my updates claim to be successful.
However when trying to compile a script of mine which uses ObjectDTM's, the ObjectDTM Include opens up and I get the error:

For people who are getting the 'Cannot find ObjectDTM' error.
Make sure there is a file named ObjDTMInclude in the folder

If it is, try turning the slash

I'm not sure how but I opened the extension itself from my downloads folder.
That opened up simba and the ran the script that it had pulled up.
Then I updated ObjectDTM and it worked!

Cant get this to work at all. Followed your instructions to the T. Tried re-installing Simba, and redownloading the file, still doesn't work. When I go to update it says:
Object DTM Extension: Failed to grab remote extension.

Not sure if this will help you solve our problem or not. Read through this thread and used other peoples tricks as well and none of them seemed to work for me either. This never creates a file in the "includes" folder either. Seems to be that the path and file ObjectDTM/ObjDTMInclude.simba never gets created. Being that this is only a download for a .sex file and not a .simba file I'm assuming that should be downloaded through the update.
EDIT: Someone posted the ObjDTMInclude.simba file in this thread:
http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=82829 Download this and make an ObjectDTM folder in your includes folder and it should work fine. TY to 'Chig' for posting that for all of us.

I`m trying to run this script to see how it woks so that I can implement this on a looting script, but I keep getting this error when trying to run the script.
SMART Initialized.

Error: Exception: Access violation at line 101

The following bitmaps were not freed: [SRL - Mod bitmap, SRL - Admin bitmap, SRL - Flag bitmap]
This is the function that generates the error:
Simba Code:
function IsRealMouseInBox(B : TBox): Boolean;
var
P : TPoint;
begin
GetRealMousePos(P.X, P.Y);

Can anyone give me an idea what is wrong and how to fix it?
Thanks
Ps. I found the solution to the problem. Apparently it has to do with your Java version, mine was not updated to the latest version of java, when I updated it, it worked smoothly.

Sorry, I'll write a better response now.
After installing Simba 0.99, I installed all my plugins as normal and then loaded up a script which used your system, and I got an error.
[Error] C:\Simba099\Includes\ObjectDTM\ObjDTMInclude.simba(217:3): Duplicate identifier 'T2DStringArray' at line 216

I checked and double checked to see if I had any plugins missing, any updates I hadn't installed, but I had done all my updates to the latest version, as well as using the fix for this error posted earlier in the thread. The error is still the same.
[Error] C:\Simba099\Includes\ObjectDTM\ObjDTMInclude.simba(217:3): Duplicate identifier 'T2DStringArray' at line 216

After I uninstalled Simba 0.99, I reinstalled Simba 0.98, which for me at least, has no issues with your extension. Hope this helps, again, sorry for an undescriptive post, busy inductions for school.

You should change the top of ObjDTMInclude.simba to:
{$IFDEF SMART}
{$IFNDEF PAINT}
{$DEFINE PAINT}
{$IFDEF SIMBAMAJOR980}
{.include SRL\SRL\MISC\Paintsmart.simba}
{$ELSE}
{.include SRL\SRL\Misc\SmartGraphics.simba}
{$ENDIF}
{$ENDIF}
{$ENDIF}
To get over the compatibility issues…
also T2DStringArray already exists in Simba 990 so you should probably change it to:
{$IFDEF SIMBAMAJOR980}
T2DStringArray = Array of TStringArray;
{$ENDIF}

The first suggestion was already done when requesting help, the second part is already the same in the latest ObjectDTM.sex download in the first post.
But just to make sure I copied your sample above and it still gives the same error.
When I exclude T2DStringArray = Array of TStringArray; by commenting it, as it cries that it is a duplicate, that means it was already declared somewhere and as stated by you that it is included in simba 99 then it gives me other errors in objectDTM namely
Unknown, identifier, 'SmartGetDebugDC'
I have now searched for this error and how to fix it and everybody says it is because the plugins is outdated, but i have downloaded the newest plugins.zip from New plugins (zip or tar.bz2):
https://github.com/MerlijnWajer/Simba/downloads (Make sure you don't let the SRL updater Extension override them… )
I think that is the latest plugins, I have overwritten the existing plugins in simba directory with these, but it keeps giving me this error or the last one I mentioned.I really don`t know where the problem is where I`m screwing up. But from the moment I upgraded to simba 99 these problems cropped up. I understand that if the plugins is outdated it will have problems, but the link I gave is the official link in simba 99 release. So I would guess that that should be the latest plugins that should work with simba 99. I have now overwritten these plugins once more with the downloaded plugins and it should do the trick by overwriting the older files shouldn`t it?
I`m a bit flabbergasted here. But maybe I`m just not doing it right.
Any suggestion? Thanks guys, I appreciate your time and effort in helping me to get this sorted out. It just feels as if I`m hitting my head against the same wall all the time. :frusty:

Releasing a quick fix for the RS update, as it broke the generation tool. Also notable are the following:
Wanted to get this out because the other changes I am making to the include are quite large and are taking a bit of time.

When Installing the .sex file, I have this related issues. I`m currently using simba99 so I don`t know if it is related to that or not.
When I enable the extension, it does not display a menu for odtm, I have to enable and disable it like 3 or 4 times before the menu option is given, when I update is it keeps displaying odtm version as 3 in the extensions options. When I close Simba and open it again the extension is disabled and the menu item gone. Then I once more have to go through the whole process to get the menu back up.

Currently, yes. Probably the next update is where all the big changes will occur. One being that Object DTMs will have a tolerance so that a specified percentage of the sub-points can be missing and an Object DTM will still result as found.

No, it will not login because that is handled by SRL which is not functional at the moment. I am not sure what is causing the form to crash. I will have to look into it later.

EDIT- Found the issue. it did have to do with the script, but most likely my simba is setup wrong or differently from other peoples.
The error would be thrown with or without ODTM installed, the reason it is not coming up when you haven't got ODTM installed is because it is detecting that the script requires the include and therefore that is the first error being encountered.
Your secondary error has nothing to do with ODTM.
Due to the fact that it is opening up SmartGraphics.simba I would hedge a guess that your second error pertains to that include

I think I am having the same issue as Bi A Op. I have installed/enabled ODTM (after having to try enable it a few times within the extensions menu). Afterwards (before and after restarting SIMBA), the ODTM menu does not show up, and does not appear to be enabled again.
As such, I cannot have it auto-update and download DTMInclude.simba
Update: So. It seems I had to click enable within the Extension Menu a few times before it actually enabled it. Then I had to close SIMBA (wait for it to dissapear from task manager). Restart Simba ONCE, patiently wait for it to boot up. You will then see the ODTM on the menu.
However, when trying to update the ODTM, it says it cannot find the file. I went onto the website manually (
silentscripts.net/objdtm/ObjectDTM.tax.bz2) and found that the website is down or gone.
As such, I cannot update ODTM to get ObjDTMInclude.

I have a new host for the project now, courtesy of [J]ustin. As a result, everyone is going to have to re-download the ObjectDTM.sex extension from the first post, and follow the instructions to install it. Additionally, it is required to do the following:
After downloading and installing the extension, please navigate to the following and make sure it is checked:
ODTM > Settings > Override Update
Then, click on:
ODTM > Update

A very small number of changes to the include can be found in the changelog on the first post.

What, if anything, in that line makes you think the error relates to the Object DTM Include? Your problem is that you are most likely running SMART 8, and as such, you need to replace the
{$DEFINE SMART} at the top of your script with
{$DEFINE SMART8}

Can't really recommend doing that. This include hasn't been updated to work with old-school Runescape, and as such it is probably best to just wait for that to occur.

@euphemism: You really should release a OSR version of this include, it would work wonderfully here and without a doubt be the dominating form of walking in OSR scripts. This will indeed still work in OSR with some simple updates to the DTMs and just a couple tweaks here and there in the generation tool. The trees aren't exactly the same but they're still detected in OSR along with NPC dots (of course). Using these two I was able to walk back and fourth from Catherby bank to the fishing spots with no trouble.
I really recommend you take a bit of time and update the DTMs enough to classify this as "OSR-compatible".
Edit:
Oh yeah, one other piece I'll throw in. I tested this in the normal browser (for what it's worth), not SMART. I doubt it makes a difference though.

Well, the format of the Object DTMs wouldn't require any changing. The only things that would require updating to make this OSR compatible would be to change the object records' colors and tolerances, and if there are any coordinate literals those would need to be changed. Other than that, nothing else should need to be touched.

Sounds good then. Yeah that's what I'm doing right now, just adjusting the colors/AVG points/tolerances/AVG tolerances. Trees, boulders, dead trees and ladders are finished; I'm about to finish up the rest. I've a question though, for 'MM_HENGE', where might I find that in RS? I'm not familiar with it. Also, 'MM_ROCK' is the symbol for a mining rock on the MM?

The henge object refers to the minimap objects for the Stonehenge like area just to the southeast of the southern Varrock entrance. I believe the rocks would be the reddish-brown rocks on the map.
That would be great!
Maybe Flight can make an unofficial release after done making all those adjustments. :p

Oh no, I'm quite sure I wouldn't do it correctly.
As a heads up to you, euphemism, the colors in the OSR minimap are very dynamic as I've found out. I'm having to load SMART multiple times to get quite a big array of colors for each object. 'Tis a pain to deal with but maybe this was normal for you when you made them the first time?

I will be more than willing to be your tester lol. I understand how annoying the color changes in OSR. It messed up my script several times before I could find a color that works well.

I always wondered about that, thanks. Sometimes in EOC it detects fence corners as "henges" though so I wasn't sure.
As for converting this to OSR, aside from the massive tolerances (compared to eoc) the problem again lies with the difference between the compass and the minimap right now objDTM rotates the dtm by what the compass says and searches it but to make this successful in OSR i think you need to add a start/end search angles.

Also the ODTM Generator uses ClickNorth to line up the map, but in 07 I think the map would need to be lined up manually because if how much the compass is off by.

Im talking more of finding the dtms, if you rotate the dtm to 85 degrees and the compass is actually 96 deg there's a good chance it wont find it.

Ok well I have the trees object being detected 100% of the time so if anyone would like to test this for themselves:
with MMObjRecords[MM_TREE] do
begin
Color := 1005867; CTS := 2; Tol := 10;
HueMod := 0.29; SatMod := 2.95;
SplitSizeX := 1; SplitSizeY := 1;
AvgNumOfPoints := 25; AvgTol := 12;
end;
That's probably the most important object. I'm currently working on Boulders and Ladders also and I would post what I have on them at this point but apparently I don't have enough colors to where both of these objects are recognized after every new client I load up. I am getting close though, I imagine I'll have both of them finished today, I just have to keep loading up new clients to get new colors for both objects.
Also, there's no way CTS1 will work for
any of the objects in OSR, the colors are just far too dynamic.

That's what I like to hear. It'll take some time and many, many new SMARTs/clients loaded but indeed it's very possible. Let me know how your progress is coming along and if there's anything I can do to help. At the moment I'm just trying to work on the object records as they'll be the most difficult to finish.
Yes they are indeed. Take a look at the two ACA's I've had opened for the past 4 days or so, 1 is for gathering the ladder colors and the other is for boulders. You can see the big difference between each color. Each color (basically) represents a new client loaded.
That is how dynamic these colors are.

I will certainly let you know if there is anything with which you can help. If you are interested in updating the records then that would be an excellent place to start. To be honest, that looks pretty standard as far as number of required colors to grab is concerned.
Can you tell me what does AvgTol means? I'm editing the record for my own use. Updated the trees colors, made a palm tree record, now updating the rocks. And it's working good so far, hope color doesn't change too much.
As well as AvgNumOfPoints please.

As well as AvgNumOfPoints please.
First, AvgNumOfPoints is what it says, the average number of points. This refers to the length of the TPA of each object DTM.
An example, you're looking for boulders on the minimap. You search for the color and that is split into, roughly, 5x5 boxes, and you've found 3 of those, 3 boulders. One contains 18 points (of the dark gray color), the second contains 26 and the third contains 33 points. So your "AvgNumOfPoints" would be about 26
with the "AvgTol" being 8. So when the actual object-finding function works it'll split the object color and search each separate TPA to make sure the length of the TPA = "AvgNumOfPoints" with a tolerance +/- "AvgTol". A literal example would be:
if inRange(length(TPA[i]), AvgNumOfPoints - AvgTol, AvgNumOfPoints + AvgTol) then
This_TPA_is_a_boulder;
This is done so if someone on the minimap, that contains that exact color, has too much or too little color in the H/W area then it's not counted as an ObjectDTM. I hope that makes sense!
