Walking methods

Hello guys,

I would like to use TPA's to navigate my character from place to place.
I've figured out how, but somehow the minimap colors change so CTS2 is not enough. Also, autocoloring methods won't work either.

Could u give me a tip where to look?
- What functions?
- Ideal methods (SPS > TPA > Radial walking etc. )

Thanks,

Eduard

Personally i find SPS the best option, combined with blind static clicks for blind spots best, but thats just personal experience :p

But if your in a low pop place then its likely you wont have blind spots, also take great care with your map, the better your map the better the result will be ;)

Heres a good place to start

Danny, The minimap is so dynamic that even using Auto color aid v2.0 and setting the autocolor function up, it will eventually (when RS loads new stuff in minimap/colors etc) not find the TPA's anymore.

Do you know how to fix this?

For areas where you will cause a minimap reload (walking far), i dont, and personally would not use TPA's in such a case ;), you could search for DDTM's tho, but its most likely overcomplicating things, have you tried SPS? Where are you trying to walk?

For walking i think SPS or DTM would be best to learn, cant see there being a problem with an SPS map for this ;) goodluck on your release

Thanks, I currently have this code:

SmartDebugImage: http://puu.sh/1I3nI

procedure WalkToLogs;
var
WillowMMTPA: TPointArray; //TPA var
WillowMMATPA: T2DPointArray; //ATPA var
AllTreesTBox, WillowMMTBox: Tbox; //Tbox's of trees
tmpCTS2: integer; //CTS2 storage var
begin
tmpCTS2 := GetColorToleranceSpeed;
SetColorToleranceSpeed(2);
SetToleranceSpeed2Modifiers(WillowMMHue, WillowMMSat);

if (FindColorsTolerance(WillowMMTPA,WillowMMCol, MMX1, MMY1, MMX2, MMY2, WillowMMTol)) then
begin
//Smart_DrawDots(WillowMMTPA);
//SMART_DebugTPA(false, WILLOWMMTPA);
SplitTpaExWrap(WillowMMTPA, 20, 20, WillowMMATPA);
SortATPAFromMidPoint(WillowMMATPA, (MiddleTPA(WillowMMTPA)));
WillowMMTBox := GetTPABounds(WillowMMATPA[0]);
AllTreesTBox := GetATPABounds(WillowMMATPA);

{SMART_DRAWBOXex(false, false, WIllowMMTBOX, clgreen);
//SMART_DRAWBOXex(false, false, AllTreesTBox, clpurple);
//MouseTBox(WillowMMTBox, 1);
//Smart_StatusDebug('walking to willow trees', clYellow);
while (FlagPresent) do
begin
Smart_StatusDebug('walking to willow trees', clyellow);
wait(100);
end;
Smart_StatusDebug('Arrived at willow trees', clgreen);
}
end;

SetColorToleranceSpeed(tmpCTS2);
SetToleranceSpeed2Modifiers(0.2, 0.2);
end;

as you can see it does it job fairly well! Altough it encounters a problem when the colors change.

So, I actually understand that SPS maybe simplier. But I want to be able to code a walking method based on TPA's.

I dont think you want me to reply to your other thread, but i believe the normal way is to collect all possible colors by running around, refresh ACA, grab colors, log out and in, refresh ACA grab colors, etc etc over and over until you get a reliable pick

Ahh I see, finding the tolerance and average color eventually..
Pff what an hassle :(

Thanks Danny, are you dutch btw? Perhaps if you have IRC or Skype we can discuss some scripts if you would like to?

I understand wanting to learn TPA's to walk, however he is right, I usually end up logging in and out a good 5-10 times to get a reliable color. I would just use SPS and if that gives you much trouble, you can make a custom map, here's a tutorial on them by Google, I use them in almost every script, and if you do not have Photoshop here is a good alternative called Gimp

TPA walking has been a bit iffy for me but with enough tolerance it will end up being able to walk but isn't super reliable. But for short distances like yours it's a pretty good idea, just up the tolerance
