from people with under 10 posts and what not due to the Banking in most of the scripts and the near flawlessness of most. I've gotten enough PM's asking me to remove banking and some features from the thread but I cannot decide.

I won't say names of course because I believe PM's are private but this is just one message that made me think:

This is just my personal opinnion but have you ever thought of creating "lite" version of your scripts for the public? Like LRC without banking, waterfiends without banking. Looking at your thread right now its like 80% of people with less than 10 post count moaning :S. Having a lite version will make people want to learn to script so they can have that LRC that banks there gold ore etc, I only came apart of this community because of flights naturez I wanted that thing to re summon so damn badly I became apart of the community and learned to script.

Thats just my personal view on things.

Uhh what do you guys think? Is he right and should myself and the others remove banking and serious features from the supported scripts? This thread may or may not make me do it but it sure would help to have opinions.

Making a lite version won't stop the leeching anyway. What they really need is to learn to stop complaining and know their way to fix the simplest problems. I'm sure with the SPS update your thread is going to be spammed by complaints which aren't even related to your script really. It's annoying and I think it will stay that way.

Removing some features is going to teach some of them a lesson. If you ask me, it doesn't really hurt. I'd say it's at your discretion.

I've actually never seen that thread in my life (srs), probably cause I don't go into the general forums too often. You should probably have each respective thread in the scripts subforums and they'd be more visible.

But you used your time to make them, so you should decide if you want to keep them public, not anyone else. Everyone else has their own selfish reasons.

Personally for higher requirement scripts, I'd rather release them to the public, cause they barely get any use in members.

I'm pro-lite. And have wondered about it several times.

Should the lite version have less features ? Seems reasonable.
Should the algorithms used in the lite version be less good ?
This one has struck me for a while, although my answer is usually no. If the light version had worse algorithms it wouldn't show the scripts full potential, but then again that might just justify it being light and would go in line with 'learn to script to access better scripts'.

Say MSI has an object tracking system, which is quite reliable and allows you to know when the rock is gone, if someone else mined it. It's a relatively processor heavy feature, and would make sense to NOT include it in the light version. The light version will therefore run faster, but might have you waiting for longer to switch rocks.

Perhaps the heavy version paints proggies onto the screen.
Perhaps the lite version's searching algorithm is not as good as the heavy version; cts 1 vs cts 2 / 3.

I think this would result in SRL members having a much more discreet botting activity vs SRL leechers, and would definitely create an incentive to learn to script, because not only would there be more scripts in Members, they would definitely be better.

Also has anyone ever considered that perhaps we could limit Leecher's scripts by skill ?
E.g. Only fighting, mining and WCing.

All others such as Smithing, Smelthing, Crafting, Firemaking, Summoning, Fletching would be kept in members.

Well if we get the JM section back and have the FFA scripts the FFA could be non-banking as it has been in years past but JM+ could have all the normal stuff.

Personally, I wouldn't create a light version. It would mean you would have to maintain two scripts. The version you will be testing and working on most will be the heavy version.

If the script has a big impact on the game, you should consider moving it to members instead. But if you want to have people running your script, public is the way to go.

It's okay there I guess (I'd suggest against it though), so many leechers begging in my thread for banking, thankfully no one links them to your thread :rolleyes:

To me, the location of those scripts is the light version. Imagine if those scripts were in their proper sections in Runescape Scripts, there would easily be x10 the amount of people who just want to use and abuse.

Lite versions are annoying to maintain, just my take on it.

Thanx for all the opinions I'll leave it as is. I think the location is a good idea too. lol and yeah maintaining two would really be a pain.. It was just that the guys pming me are the ones that are either Junior or < 100 posts and weren't too happy so.. yeah was only wondering.

If we implemented light, then Junior Members section could have the full version. (Perfect way to re-implement JR.)

My full and lite versions of the Shilo script are exactly the same, except the full version has banking and other handy features. I built the lite version first, and got that working flawless. Then added the other features in. Maintaining two scripts isn't a big deal for me.

I think leaving it how it is would be the best thing. Thing is, if you made lite versions of the scripts then one person will add a banking feature to it and share it. I know if you broke them up into proper sections, they would be abused more than they are now.

I wouldn't mind having two scripts either…

what happens once Reflection/Injection break's for good = More little leeches here sucking the communities blood + Mega Leeches abusing all of our script's gold farming because their will be nothing left for them. Higher abuse = More Likely that Jagex will see our true potential. SPS walking is the same as reflection in effectiveness.. It can do almost everything the same as reflection would be able to do it their gonna be here soon using it I guarantee it. We need to keep ourselves safe and others should learn how to do that themselves that mean's our Advanced Color finding method's should never get out to leechers all of our effective methods that seperate us from the normal script's the common bots should be kept away from the noobs here, the Public Script's section is a Leech Fest it's not about learning here if someone can set up a script after reading a quick guide spam the forum's and get an answer for a simple question and get it given to them n then never release any scripts or do anything but just suck our blood? I think we should even have a 100+ Posts Public Script Forum and then a Leecher Forum where people post stupid scripts it would encourage true SRLers to keep the majority of the scripts that are going to be abused safe, Before they get accepted into the forum the person should be reviewed by someone from a team of Volunteers from Member's to check if they have spammed their way into the forums with pointless post's or that they have actually helped out a few people etc only then shall they have access to all the goodies they are getting without doing anything.

I think the real issue here is the HUGE intake of new users we're getting here. SRL has NEVER been this crowded. I'm not saying I don't like it, however there are some things that should change. Personally, I'd really like to see Jr's being implemented once again. I remember how much I loved my little Jr. section when it was alive and I was a Jr. myself.

Why isn't the Jr Member section back yet? Cmon, it's been suggested for more than a year, and we have more than enough Jr Members that qualify.

C'mon, lets be serious, what's 7 days and 10 posts going to make for difference besides X*10 posts spam?

I'm talking about 3 different level's
First scripts that are not really any good 1-99 Post Access
Semi-Valued Script Access - 100 Post's and being Reviewed for Spam, Jnr Script's Access - Jnr Member's.
SRL has enough of a mainstream now to do this ^
It would protect us from Leecher's big time.

Make it lite by commenting out the banking. If they can figure out how to make it bank, then it can be seen that they learned something, if not small. I will agree that users with >10 post counts complaining that a script does not have a "Feature" grows old fast…

I'd like to bring this up again..

It should be a standard in my opinion to have a lesser script in the free section, and complete / superior in the higher ranks (starting from Jr Member).

Let's face it, leechers are among us 'en masse'.. I just read through Flight's Yanille Essence Miner thread and … wow.

Yea I hate those kind of comments.
I will do the "extra" effort to make a lite version, that is even slower and has less features. This will encourage new users to learn at least the basics and the script won't slow down the "full" version.

+ it doesn't have to be an extra effort, like Kyle said (I think it was him), you can add the banking features and such last :p.
