PowerBot updating

blabla7

2012-01-16 07:35:18

As the title suggests, PowerBot will/may be updating very soon.
As many of you know they have delayed the deadline for months, however;
contributors and V.I.Ps claim they had access to the beta version of it during the last couple of days.
A couple of minutes ago an announcement was posted, stating they are getting their hands on the last technical difficulties. The bot itself is claimed to be fully functional.

It seems as if a major amount of people will be masscreating new accounts and start claiming f2p worlds again. Any thoughts?

In my honest opinion, I do think JaGeX has expected this and has another so called "bot-nuke" ready for whenever the release will be.

Discuss.

But how will they avoid the legal side of it? It's possible for a company like Jagex to go out of their own country and have you detained for copyright infringement.

I do not see the difference compared to the last years. PowerBot and many other bot company's have been sue-ed. It might also be a smart move for bot companies to move over to countries like Sweden, in order to bypass these copyright laws.

RISK

The difference is that if you deobfuscate the Runescape client (Like what Powerbot and Nexus do), you are infringing copyright that is owned by Jagex as their intellectual property. You can't evade it anymore.

At least, that's what I've been reading.

You might be right. Honestly, I don't have a clue. I'm not quite into laws and the way they work. Still, the laws have not changed since PowerBot have exicted. Yet, PowerBot is still up and running (well not at the moment, but soon they will).

Maybe powerbot made an OGL bot or they are stupid enough to bring out another reflection bot. I don't think they will be back up. At first they said they won't face any legal issues, but now they also said they are working on some legal issues…

If you have a good eye, you'll notice that the video they uploaded last week was actually filmed on 22th July last year. I highly doubt it'll be released within the next month, if ever.

I don't really get your point. Why are they stupid at all? It's not like they have not thought about legal actions taken against them. It's not like the bot came out of nothing. It is a well thought-through process. Even though I hate the administration and the attitude of the site, the work they produce is admirable.

I have seen that, however. Why would the video have to be recent? They never claimed the bot to be working while posting the video. That has only been done today, the expected release date. I highly doubt the bot working, but you got to look at the other site. When releasing a good injecting bot, you're website will attract a lot of (new) users. Therefore it is usefull to have a setup video at the frontpage of your website. If the interface of your bot has not changed, there is no need to create a new video.

Lights

2012-01-16 07:57:46

They claim that the bot is already working, as they ran multiple scripts for a period of over 48 hours.

That now have to wait till legal issues are solved so they can release the client to the public.

So do I. PowerBot updating might even be good for us. Might get the focus of JaGeX off of us, because PowerBot is way bigger. Therefore they will have less time creating updates which will set srl back.

Probably RiD, because leacher don't want to put effort in figuring out how SRL works.

Kyle Undefined

SRL is "too hard" for people to use apparently, so they will go with RiD. I don't care, since I don't want those type of people here in the first place.

blabla7

2012-01-16 09:00:23

SRL isn't as hard to set up as it used to be a couple of years ago.
I remember using subversion and moving plugins, it was a pain in the ass.

Simba is way easier than scar. You can just enable the updaters in the extensions menu and update everything. You hit start MSI and a lot of scripts are useable. It's just a tiny bit harder than rsbot…

Anywho, I'm not gonna hold my breath. I think if anyone's really curious about it, you could drop (Name Removed) a line. He's tied in with Powerbot last I heard. He's probably a good source to cite.

I don't think either of those bots deobfuscate the client, but their developers may do so to understand how it works. What would be illegal, as far as I know, is circumventing the encryption that protects the client. However, the loader will decrypt the client for you, and I'm not too sure of the legality surrounding access to the client after that point.

Anyway, I'd rather wait and see what happens than speculate about the chances that the bot will be updated.

Its the laws surrounding AES, not deobfuscation, that are causing legal concern. Deobfuscation has been done for a rather long time without issue.

Obfuscators sure, but cluster flutterers just convert instances to Object[]s. I don't think there is much more that could be done with cluster flutterers. They did update their obfuscation recently so we'll see if they have more.

Powerbot is owned by gold4rs I believe they have locations in china or i believe might be wrong but i think it's china anyways china doesn't believe in copyright laws aslong as you pay up as far as I know.

Personally I don't see the definate return of rsbot you might ask me why?
Well simply becouse the price of buying rsgold has been going up so those people don't expect powerbot to be back and they should know that becouse if they didn't they would lost alot of cash.

Also jagex and bluffing? personally they haven't bluffed alot regarding reflection becouse they simply don't alow it anymore you can say like oh they don't allow idc but they do own the game so bringing in an update will only be a matter of time if reflection comes back.

That doesn't mean a single thing that your account slipped by. Mine did too, and I actually was a fairly frequent user of pb for an army of miners, lol. Those all got killed though after all the bs happened. I honestly wouldn't trust them at all one bit. Partnering up with companies and websites such as rsgold4life, which is now gold4fun only makes them more sketchier. The fact that you can't even go to them and 'trust' them with making a purchase anymore is pathetic in my eyes. Anyway, everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

I'm new to this community, and I can say that Simba/MSI is amazing in the way that it was the ONLY major platform to survive the Botnuke. It's simplicity (as compared to other bots) was key to it's survival, as were it's dedicated scripters and devs (btw, thanks guys). However, it isn't flawless, and if Powerbot is truly back I'd be happy to see it. The odds are that they're bluffing to stall it's leeches, but if they're online I'll definitely need to check it out. As the title suggests, PowerBot will/may be updating very soon.
As many of you know they have delayed the deadline for months, however;
contributors and V.I.Ps claim they had access to the beta version of it during the last couple of days.

Discuss.

False.

I'm a VIP and trust me no BETA Version has been released. powerbot won't be releasing their bot anytime soon, so don't wait on it. :)

I do not see the difference compared to the last years. PowerBot and many other bot company's have been sue-ed. It might also be a smart move for bot companies to move over to countries like Sweden, in order to bypass these copyright laws.

It doesnt matter what country you are in, it's international. You cant just break JAGEX's TOS and get away with it because your country dosnt have any internet copyright infringe laws.

Just to clear some things:
Breaking TOS is not illegal. But reflection (or in this case BCEL Injectionbots) uses Jagex compyrighted material which is illegal. And also if you live in china its a lower chance of getting sued cuz i dont think chienses care that much.
