MSI ~ [ERROR] GATHERMINIMAP:: Access Violation FIXED

This has now been FIXED! At least, no one has reported this method not working. You need an unreleased version of Simba and the latest SPS if you're receiving this error. Please follow these steps:
  1. Get Simba 0.97.4 here.
  2. Download the latest SPS from here. Make sure you follow the download instructions carefully!
  3. Try running MSI or any script using SPS. You shouldn't have to run as administrator.
I hope this works for everybody, and this fix will be distributed with the next official release of Simba.

Cheers,
Cohen

Thanks.
I did have some trouble looking for a way to reverse the update. (I thought it was more than 2 lines to replace)

i've found something interesting, the way to get it to work when you're restarting simba until it works
you click run msi, and if you let smart load up, you'll get the error
you have to restart it until you get this error in the debug:

Running MSI…
ERROR in TMThread.LoadFile
Exception in Script: Unable to find file '..\Simba\Includes\MSI/MSI/Skills/Magic.simba' used from '..\Simba\Includes\MSI/MSI/Core/Setup.simba'

now click run msi again (same simba as the one you got the error)
it will load the form
click run (after putting your info obviously)
and it will work

i don't know why, or how many people this will help/does effect
but i'm POSITIVE for me, it's 100% of the time when i run it without getting the error in the debug
i get access violation once smart loads up
if i get the exception in script error, and then click run msi, it will work when smart loads.
i don't know if you already knew this or not, so i posted it.

Please try this plugin and this Simba.exe:
https://www.moparisthebest.com/jenkins/job/Simba_Stable/29/artifact/Simba.i386-win32.7z
https://github.com/Markus92/SPS/raw/master/plugin/sps.dll
And try to see in the console output if the memory manager got set succesfully :)

you get that error because you click run to soon once you open up simba. try waiting a few seconds before you click run.

but then why only when i get an error does msi work without access violation?

I'm pretty sure that's not it, because i don't even attempt to quickly press anything, in fact it's probably at least a 6-7 second delay before i click run on msi. .

While working to find a temporary fix to the problem until you professionals can find a real fix, i've found doing what you posted in the OP didn't exactly work for me

however i expanded on it ever so slightly, after doing everything you said, i right clicked simba and clicked properties, then set it to run as administrator automatically
next i found using msi > run still gave me the error extremely often, however, opening runme.simba in the msi folder and clicking the play button (NOT RUN>MSI) has worked 5 times in a row and i think is a good temporary fix. I'm not sure why it makes a difference, but it has for me.

This may be the issue due to Simba trying to share memory with PS.. Wow.

That might actually be the issue.

You have no idea how thrilled i'd be to feel like i actually helped, as i'm trying hard with limited knowledge and to this point have made no progress.

Keep me updated on anything I can help with, or if this is helping fix the issue.

Hate to burst your bubble, but I tried this before and I would still get the acesss violation.

Very disappointing, it's been a temporary fix for me but if it doesn't work for all i guess i'll continue trying new things.

edit; Are you sure you'd done everything i said? Setting it to run as administrator automatically, using runme.simba, and clicking play instead of msi>run?

I've done it at least 15+ times since and still haven't gotten the sps error, unless there are two causes i don't understand why this would work for me and not you.

I'm pretty sure that's what Markus changed, and it's seemed to work for me.

If you're getting this error, refer to this post.

Yea I made the DLL use Simba's memory manager instead of it's own. Wizzup says that should do the trick.

Actually i just saw coh3n's post about the fix in the new version of simba, and i had redownload and installed everything again before i changed the line, so that may have been the fix for me.

White text is nearly invisible, that's why.
