Hey,
Simba 0.97.4 has been released! The installer can be found at http://simba.villavu.com/bin/Release/0.97.4/SimbaInstaller.exe as usual, autoupdater will also be updated soon.
The main reason for this release is a new function call to the DLL: SetPluginMemManager. This, combined with the new version of SPS, should fix the infamous Access Violation errors some of you had. This one can be downloaded at the usual location (https://github.com/Coh3n/SPS/zipball/master) and is already updated, it also contains a few new maps from what I can see.
There have also been a few fixes to the DTM editor. You can now load and save DTMs from/to a file, and a few bugs are fixed.
Scripts should generally be unaffected by this release, mostly documentation was changed.
Shortlog:
For more recent builds of Simba you can always check out http://moparisthebest.com/jenkins, which always contains a build of the latest Simba, properly compiled/built (in fact, since 0.97 we always 'steal' our own builds from Jenkins ;)). Regular users like most of you are, are advised to use the latest stable release as can also be seen on the website.
Bugs etc: http://bugs.villavu.com/
Feedback can be posted below.
Interesting for plugin developers only: In order to pass objects and other things that go through the heap, you need to use some kind of memory sharing thing. With SCAR this was easily solved by using FastShareMem, but no such fast equivalent exists for FPC. This fix will make the DLL (optionally) change it's memory manager to Simba's. Existing plugins are unaffected, Simba will detect the presence of this function. Please see my SPS patch to see how to fix it, it's just a few lines and might resolve a lot of issues.
