I have an Idea that I'm about to put up 10M RSGP up for it. The Idea is A competition for Best Video of a Script using Simba and SRL. This Hopefully will get a good response and we will have some good videos to for the Gallery. Basically as an Intro for newcomers to see what we have in action. The competition will last roughly a month. The prize is mainly to get some motivation going for everyone. Thoughts… Donations….

I'm putting up 10M for this. I'm hoping to reach 50M or so… like 10M per category and a 2 Mil for runners up. That way each category will see some action.

Rules

1. All Scripts must be SRL/SIMBA/REF Scripts in other words scripts found on our forums. :)
2. All videos are for the advertisement of the SRL/SIMBA and the community in general.
3. Your video can only be entered for ONE category.
4. You must list and credit the Scripts used in the Video.
5. You can enter with more than one Video.
6. All Videos must be at least of decent quality for it to even be considered as an entry.

• Scripts in Action
- Video showing how awesome SRL/Simba/MSI/REF is.
• How to Guides
- How to Install SIMBA/SRL/MSI/REF/SPS.

Prizes

• 1st Place Prize - 15 Million RSGP
• 2nd Place Prize - 10 Million RSGP
• 3rd Place Prize - 5 Million RSGP

I think this is a great idea. My only concern is that we don't have a video guru here at SRL. We have a few people good with graphics, but I don't know about videos. We'll have to see. :) Also, would be cool if the winning video's could be displayed in the "Introduction" page if it gets added.

Yay more donations!!!!! About not having Video people well we really haven't done video stuff here before so this might be what we need to get us started. Like I posted before this is going to be Like a Ad campaign for SRL/SIMBA/REF so that hopefully we can attract some newcomers to the Forums. I totally just thought up a new rule. :) Updating the First post.

I think maybe the video should combine all the categories. Rather than having 5 different promotional videos, we'd have one that covered everything. I bet it'll only be 5 minutes if it includes everything. That will also means the rewards will be better. Should have rewards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

I'm willing to drop down to 3 Categories any way…

MSI, Tut, and Multi script. I really think we need the Tutorial one updated which is why I put it up there.

I still think the videos will be quite short. I think MSI + Other scripts should be one. I can see a tutorial one separate. Offtopic, but I think being able to post videos in forum posts would be cool. :rolleyes:

Probably, but it would be nice if like SSRL+ or MODs could add them for promotion purposes. Just restrict who has the rights to post them as a way to keep the stress down.

What's everyone else think? My first thought is to shoot it down. I don't think it'll work as a vid as users will come looking for the Script and be upset upon not finding it. I don't particularly like it. Opinions?

That's generally the point of the Competition. Really we'll see what the users come up with. Generally I can Disqualify vids not showing stuff about it based on the 2-3 rules currently. :)

I think there's one that still needs to be judged? I can't remember who was in charge of that, but you should figure that out before starting a new one.

It was Yohojo and the boards where we judged were hidden from us. Like, the hell are we supposed to judge if we can not find the threads. :/

I think anyone with the 'Valued voter' cup was part of the 'judge panel', unless that was a different one I'm thinking about?

Valued voter was for people who were valuable voters for people applying to SRL Members.

I know that, lol. I'm pretty sure I remember all valued voters being appointed as judges for a competition at some point though, I could be wrong.

Markus has one open that he hasn't judged yet. I have been bugging him to complete it for awhile. He was the only judge for it. Coh3n I'll post up all the links in a bit.

The only thing I could find was this. Can you not see that?

According to the threads in that forum, you aren't one of the judges, but I also can't find anything about a current competition that needs judging.

The best bet would be to get a hold of Markus about it. I'd hate to forget about it, but we may have to. :p

For the competition, if we can get a copy of all the entries, I'll judge some.

I got him on a few different messengers I'll try to get him a message.

I think if we do a competition we need to have a set date for closing and grading.

Mainly open for 1 month and 1 week to grade/judge. Realistically we don't need more than a week for judging.

I've been debating on that for the better part of 2 days. Seems kinda wrong to change the standards at the end.

Haha I didn't even notice that :duh:

Edit: We really shouldn't let this die out. Would do some good for SRL's morale to see a competition actually completed and judged.

Also, I'll upload the video with 'among' spelled correctly once we decide on the SRL YT account for promotion.


I've taken the liberty of creating an SRL channel with the name 'TheOfficialSRL' as 'SRL', and 'OfficialSRL' were already taken. :confused:

The video can now be found here with the spelling fix. Unless someone (staff) wants to create another channel to be used, I will be using this for official SRL promotion. I have all the info for the YT account if someone would like to post it on the staff members boards so it can be shared for the same purpose; or I can post if here if we want it SSRL+.

Also, as I posted on the other thread; I would appreciate for the money I won to be donated to SRL. If this has not yet been done, I will gladly accept the money, sell, then donate the profits towards helping to pay for the site, etc.

I'll donate yours and Grats share when I remember how to do it. XD
