SRL SC #6: Scripting goal and discussion

Woodcutter and/or Firemaker!
Deadline: 16 March 2011, 12.00 (noon) GMT
It has been a couple of years since Starblaster left and, with him, the SRL Scripting Competitions. As those were fun, here is another one.
I will be the judge. For now I won't need help or so, just your participation! See the threads in this section for more information on rules.
List of current participants:There used to be a list here, but the response is overwhelming! A LOT of people are willing to join!Short reminder: Teams are also allowed, Hybrid scripts can gather way more points than reflection alone and if you are lazy: submit a 30-line reflection powercutter!
Edit: Also, submitting can be done by PMing a script to me.
Good luck to everyone; Let the games begin!

This is one of the most exciting thread's I have read on SRL in a long time! Thank you for hosting and preparing all of these threads! There actually have been a couple competitions after Starblaster left, but I remember one of them failed horribly (Judge were lazy/no end result was ever given :p).
Could you please link to the stickies on the bottom of this thread? At first I assumed this thread was the only information about the competition!
Good Luck to everyone! Get working, get excited, you can do it!

Wow what rotten timing lol.
Was going to make a reflection firemaker as my second reflection script, right after I tackle a cooker to learn reflection.
Guess I'll have to put the cooker on hold and actually put some effort into it to make it a hybrid. Life is rough lol. :)

Awww YoHoJo, c'mon. I know you have it in you. Anything is better than nothing.
I will join! I just have to find an idea and go with it.
Just to be clear about possible points?(need a confirm):
Color > Hybrid(Only ref walking) > All ref
YoHoJo
2011-02-22 20:02:58
Color>Reflection (Larger point max for color (points capped for ref) ALSO color normally means better points in technique/creativity)
Hybrid (meaning BOTH color AND reflection (as backup only) is the same points as color)
Right?!

I'm wondering this also since I will most likely go for 100% color. I'm doing this for fun and reflection just seems so boring and easy :p. 100% should get some kind of bonus.

In any way would it be against the rules if I posted my script for more wide-spread testing in the "First Script" testing part of "Public Scripts"? This is my first complete script(miraculously working somehow) but I want to make sure what I'm able to do runs smooth.

Well no it doesn't but it did say on the rules thread that scripts that were preexisting would be judged harder so I wasn't sure if this fell under that rule

I am working with a way to get the reflection withdrawing working again, which will be used in my script, the original was mostly my work (with mormonman making touch ups and making it look neater), do I get credit for that work?

You can use it, but I can't give you points for special 1337 walking techniques then (unless you are called marpis).
Also if it lags my PC out, there might be some negative consequences for your runtime points.

Sadly, I don't think I'll be able to finish my entry in time. I'd rather do it right than submit something half-assed, but I don't have the time to devote to this ATM. It's really a shame, because my goal was to completely rework the POS that was my Deamonheim WC script.

I think it's meant just as a bit of fun, as it is the first one in a while. I'm sure any more future ones will be more serious, with a more generous deadline.
Just make whatever you can in the time, you'll probably still stand a pretty good chance. I haven't started yet, and I plan to submit one :P
EDIT:
if you are lazy [limited on time]: submit a 30-line reflection powercutter!
