Hey, I need someone to go through beginner tuts and choose the best ones, most useful ones and perhaps some really easy to get ones.

These are to be posted as a list in the First Scripts Section.

What is the point of them being moved?

Sir R. M8gic1an

2011-02-11 11:39:55

Not moved. Make a new sticky in 'First Scripts' and just name it: Noob Tuts

And put a link to the threads :)

But there is already "Newbie" Tutorials and "Beginner Scripting" Tutorials… They both have stickies of the most popular tutorials… why would we need to make a sticking to link to stickies when they can just go to that section in tutorial island where they are already stickied.

Because it makes it easier on them…?

Why would you come poo on my thread when you've got no reason to?

Besides, maybe the begginner tuts are outdated and they need brushing up.

I don't care who you're with, I have the perfect right to make a thread and whomever's with me can make it. Unless of course you're going to delete a useful thread afterwards dunno.

Beginner tuts need a clean up, someone can do that and I can make the thread or just sticky it myself

I didn't know asking questions for clarification because what you wanted to do didn't make sense to me counted as "pooing" on your thread :/ they were honest questions.

Edit: why are you getting so defensive, no one said you can't we are just asking why because we don't see the point nor benefit of it.

So basically you think they are too stupid to look for a tuts section?

I think that leechers wouldn't be looking for tuts, but if we throw them at their face they might read them, and sometimes people just pickup random books and read cus they realize they enjoy it.

Well, bundling all tuts in a book .pdf would be an excellent idea.

BraK already sorted out the how to auto tuts.

And if he doesn't have a tuts cup, he should be getting one

I agree with RM; there's nothing bad showing a collection of tutorials for newbies - that would guide them on where should they start.

Anyway, here are some I liked more:

* First step: Setting up everything to bot
Installing Simba http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=47714
Setting up your players http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60501
Graphics settings and players too http://villavu.com/forum//showthread.php?postid=772248

* Second step: Basics of scripting
Beginners tutorial http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=58935
Beginners tutorial http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4625 (A bit old maybe?)
Beginners tutorial http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12154
Fixing your errors http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6413 (A bit old maybe?)

* Third step: Intermediate scripting
Map Walking http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19162
Bitmap tutorial http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=47374
DDTM tutorial http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32608 (I find this one good too: http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29456 )
Finding randoms http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41564
TPA and ATPA tutorial: http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42428

These are the ones I found on the top, I probably missed good ones too.

Wizzup?

Or perhaps something like this… http://old.villavu.com/merlijn/tmp/Simba.pdf (Which has existed for a long time, actually?)
Simba also has a chapter entitled ``Tutorials'', it's just that no one has taken the time to port their tutorial to the Simba documentation. We could obviously also place these in the SRL documentation.

Still don't know what your saying I guess.

Anyways, this PM I got sort of supports your idea here so I figured I would post.

Simba and SCAR are basically the same thing. They both use PascalScript therefor have the same syntax etc. The only real difference is the functions within the compiler, and even most of those are the same or very similar.

This tutorial shoujld help familiarize you with everything: http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=58935

Good luck :)

Thank-you that confused me a bit. Im not much of a tut kind of guy lol. There should be a thread with links to all important tuts or just with all tuts in general or cfategorized just so its easier to search

I see you have soo many tutorials, but none of then are for beginners. I was wondering if you have one for beginners or if you can give me a link of a tut or a thread that links to all important tuts or something

thanks

Agreed for a list/pdf of tuts…we have changed a lot since the last time tuts were being made regularly.
