SMARTv6.4a [updated]

BenLand100

2010-12-26 20:03:37

Edit: v6.4 -> v6.4a

Added to the srl-opendev, mirrored on my server:
http://bland.no-ip.org/files/Embedded_SMART.dll
http://bland.no-ip.org/files/libsmart.so
http://bland.no-ip.org/files/libsmart.dll

Source (SVN Repos):
http://blanddns.no-ip.org:81/repos/public-smart

Major changes are not visible to most people, however:
+Changed windows internal names to remove the @[numbytes] so python can interface easier with SMART
+Fixed the user-agent thanks to moparisthebest
EDIT: Changed from v6.4
+Export to SCAR/everything else fixed, hopefully it works now

You also seem to have gotten rid of the pesky i386 assembly code in the windows build, which is great because now it compiles without modification for 64-bit windows! Does anyone know if it actually works with 64-bit windows though?

Smart works on my 64-bit windows (prior to 6.4, dunno about 6.4..); however, I have no idea if it compiles correctly.

Yes, but as a 64bit? Not just running it with Simba, cause that would run it as 32bit afaik.

Seriously whats the point of you updating the non simba SMART if you are not going to test to see if it works or not first.

I appreciate you keeping this remarkable program alive, but why make updates that cause it not to work.

It compiles just fine:
http://www.moparisthebest.com/downloads/simba/make_tools/plugins/x86_64-win64/

I can't currently test if it works or not though. I also should have made clearer that I'm talking about whether 64-bit SMART works with 64-bit Simba on 64-bit windows. You are almost certainly using 32-bit SMART with 32-bit Simba on 64-bit windows, which has always worked.

Ok, I got wine64 to compile, and I think SMART will work in 64-bit simba now, as benland's test app has never worked on 64-bit SMART before, and now it does:

~/simba$ wine64 test-windows64.exe

0x6f84804d = function SmartGetDebugDC: integer;

0x6f848067 = function SmartDebugArray(): Pointer;
0x6f8481d1 = function SmartGetRefresh: integer;
/snip

(although, now that I look at it, not sure that should say 'AnsiString' since I compiled it for Simba and NOT for SCAR, is that right Benland??)

If someone would like to try it under 64-bit windows, please give it a shot (don't try to load all of SRL or anything, I believe the current interpreter is still broken under 64-bit, just try to load SMART):

Ok I'm tired of you guys acting like simba is the perfect program. There are other people that need to use SCAR for different purposes. Cut the bullshit with the "illegal to use with SCAR". I highly doubt your stupid enough to even believe that, because if you are then a truly feel sorry for you. BenLand has full rights to do whatever he wants with SMART, he chose what license to use it with, he even chose a name that included SCAR in the title at one point. The sooner the bullshit ends, the sooner the fighting ends.

Nice trolling btw.

Is it? Because according to GNU GPL v3^[1] I've yet to see where it says it's illegal.

Certainly not for the program owner, who can do whatever the hell he wants to.

moparisthebest

2010-12-27 16:32:49

Since Benland is the copyright holder on the program, he can license it under any license he chooses, and allow all the exceptions he wants. He obviously allows it to be used with SCAR (though not under a GPL license). He is allowed to do this and it's perfectly legal.

I however could not compile and distribute the GPL'd SMART for use with SCAR, that would be against the license. I can and do compile it for use with Simba though. And I could compile it and use it for SCAR for my own use, because the GPL only applies if you distribute the program.

Bug report for Benland, though I'm not sure if it makes a difference or not, it very well might.

2 snippets from Main.cpp:

// first snippet
#ifndef NEWSCAR
(char*)"setup", (char*)"procedure SmartSetup(root, params: String; width, height: Integer; initseq: AnsiString);",
#else
(char*)"setup", (char*)"procedure SmartSetup(root, params: String; width, height: Integer; initseq: String);",
#endif

// second snippet
#ifndef NEWSCAR
(char*)"sendKeys", (char*)"procedure SmartSendKeys(Text: String);",
#else
(char*)"sendKeys", (char*)"procedure SmartSendKeys(Text: AnsiString);",
#endif

Notice how the first snippet is reversed? This causes the exports when compiled for Simba to be slightly messed up, as SmartSetup has a final parameter of type 'AnsiString' instead of 'String'. It should instead be switched like so:
#ifndef NEWSCAR
(char*)"setup", (char*)"procedure SmartSetup(root, params: String; width, height: Integer; initseq: String);",
#else
(char*)"setup", (char*)"procedure SmartSetup(root, params: String; width, height: Integer; initseq: AnsiString);",
#endif

Also, I'm not sure if the 'params' parameter is supposed to be String or AnsiString when compiled for SCAR, I'd think it might be messed up too.

If this made a difference, I'd expect it not to work in SCAR or Simba probably, if it currently does work then it's just a semantics issue. :)

@IceFire — it would work fine and this problem wouldn't exist if Freddy wasn't a fail at keeping things sensible. SMART has a tendency to work fine on everything, except SCAR. Anyway, i'll update.

Edit: Fixed for v6.4a… TBH Icefire, if i knew anyone accessible to test for me on SCAR I would run it by them, but I don't.

Quick patch. Everything seems to compile just fine and load fine in all of the architectures of your plugin test apps. (win64, win32, linux32, linux64)

All the plugins are here:

And incorporated into the latest Simba builds, and all future ones (until it's updated again), here:
http://www.moparisthebest.com/downloads/simba/current/

If someone could test the 64-bit windows smart and give feedback as to what happens, that would be great.

So, broken or fixed? And has scar magically changed in the past 48 hours such that it might not be something I changed causing the problem? Cause I really didn't change anything except moving stuff around….

Edit: Presuming it was broken, I committed something to the repos that might fix it. No version change though, since it was just a flag in the makefile I changed. Maybe it works on SCAR now?

To answer your question, the first one you put up wouldn't allow anything to compile at all and gave the read of address 000000. The second one you put up would compile but none of the functions would register (unknown identifiers), the one you just put up won't compile at all and puts out Compiling Error Line 1 Unable to register function function SmartImageArray(): Pointer;. Nothing has changed in SCAR for a month or two. The previous SMART that was in the repository worked until you updated it.

The point I was making though was what is the point of updating SMART that isn't used for anything but SCAR if you aren't going to test to see if it works fine or not first. It's an inconvenience for everyone whom it effects.

Is this some kind of a joke? You of all people Garrett

Tell me why we people making irrelevant, off topic, incorrect, smart ass comments here. I am trying to discuss with Ben here more important things than some of you can probably wrap your brain around.

Simba is not a perfect program. It has many flaws. SCAR has been around for some time, and a lot of the code that I've made (and a lot of code in the SRL include), and many others, was based for this. Most of us learned to code in SCAR and we are used to the way it interprets things and the way it works. Simba does things differently, here's a perfect example of a coder having problems adapting http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60368 to the new environment. In order to better simba, it takes help from people like me who give a fuck and take an in-depth look into high detail of these differences to catch shit you'd never expect or anticipate. There are many examples of this, and many instances of this. All of you who think I'm some anti-simba hating jackass mother fucker need to take a closer look at the things that I've done. My only goal is to better everything, deleting SCAR off the face of the Earth and proclaiming Simba to be god is some serious head up the ass approach I've had to put up with that has made things that much harder. I've been in to help from the start, and I've done a fantastic job of doing what I can for simba.

I'm doing this for a reason, those of you who are so sort sighted and ignorant, those of you who take offense to constructive criticism really need to grow a pair.

I know what you're saying, but you specifically said that SMART (I don't care where it's located, by the way) "isn't used for anything but SCAR," which is false.. SMART supports both Simba and SCAR (again, the location doesn't matter). That is all.

But anyway, herp derp, let's continue arguing about Simba vs SCAR in this thread.

Ben, I wanna give you a patch for libsmart.so but I'm trying to have a few more people test. It's just how you find the Java stuff on Linux. It's a bit.. specific. Actually, I think you always have to edit the source and recompile if you're on linux..

Ok, misinterpretations aside, do you really think I meant to say that SMART is only used for SCAR? Because from reading what you just said, it makes it seem like you did. I was specifically referring to the SMART located in the SRL SVN which is not in the /simba/ folder. That is not used by anything but SMART, so for someone to 'update' that particular file knowing that it potentially does not work, and does not care or bother to test it, commits it to the SVN. Now I've pointed this out before, and apparently no one except Ben is allowed to touch it now. It doesn't get to me that he doesn't care to maintain SCAR compatibility, it gets to me the fact that something that has only 1 specific use is updated only to break its entire purpose. Therefore there is no use in updating it if the only thing it is going to accomplish is an error that prevents anything from compiling, especially when it could just be left alone or reverted to the old one.

Now honestly, minus the minor rude statements from Ben, I'm rather happy with his response and acknowledge of the problem. So really this almost has nothing at all to do with Ben.

What I don't understand is random people coming in here, Ex. Nava2, Ian, Garret, MylesMadness, making unnecessary input that is far from helping anything, especially since they know it's a sensitive topic apparently.

Ian, if you didn't understand what I said, that's really your fault, and not mine.

First of all, whether or not anyone at all uses SCAR is irrelevant. If you want to know the answer to such a question that is as off topic and derailing as that one, please do it somewhere else. I don't care where, no one wants this to be another simba vs SCAR thread, especially not me. And by discussing and asking such questions here is nearly impossible to avoid with this many people of such a 'small' attitude is only going to lead to exactly that.

All I'm going to say here in this thread, is that your statement is incorrect in this thread, because it is. If you want the answer to that question then follow the instructions listed above. It's real simple.

Lets assume 3 things aren't true, that actually are. That no one ever uses SCAR, that no one ever uses SCAR with Runescape, and that no one ever uses SMART with SCAR with runescape.

That being said, does it make any sense at all to update a file, that has no other purpose that being used with SCAR (Yes Ian this means I'm talking about the SMART not the in the /simba/ folder) be "updated" if all it is going to do is cause what it was there for not to work.

Now lets take into account that even one, or two, hell maybe all those things are probably true.

But! I know what you meant now. My apologies. Back on topic.

"Now I've pointed this out before, and apparently no one except Ben is allowed to touch it now."

If you mean he's the only one allowed to commit, then yes. But, if you post a patch that's useful (and works, or at least should work), then he will apply it and it'll be in the repo at some point. It's been done at least once recently, and I plan on posting a patch (or if he's on in irc just giving it to him) at some point this week/weekend and it will most likely be added to the repo.

Point is, if you want something to be changed, SMART is open source and you can post patches if you so please and it will be added to the repo, granted it has a point and is done correctly.

Its painful to test in SCAR, and I don't really like leaving old versions of a program in official places. I do check to see if it exports all of the methods properly, but SCAR is notorious about not accepting sane input and instead complaining about it. I don't generally test on Simba either, to be honest, but I have test apps that simulate the way SCAR/Simba used to work. So yea. I'll be updating it soon with lots of changes, I guess I'll test in an old version of scar or something.

Also, your last reply was the most annoyingly passive aggressive thing I've ever read. Just saying.

Notice how the first snippet is reversed? This causes the exports when compiled for Simba to be slightly messed up, as SmartSetup has a final parameter of type 'AnsiString' instead of 'String'. It should instead be switched like so:
#ifndef NEWSCAR
(char*)"setup", (char*)"procedure SmartSetup(root, params: String; width, height: Integer; initseq: String);",
#else
(char*)"setup", (char*)"procedure SmartSetup(root, params: String; width, height: Integer; initseq: AnsiString);",
#endif

It had to be AnsiString for a while because the plugin system in SCAR 3.25 wasn't finished, it had some issues because of the new unicode support introduced in Delphi 2009, though because of issues like this I've kept SCAR ansi only. The plugin system was finished a bit ago, it should no longer be required to use AnsiString in exports.

OOOHHH, you meant SMART. :x You said SCAR so I thought you meant that SMART was used specifically for SCAR, but I see now that you meant SMART, which makes entire sense. Not to be rude, but it's kinda unfair to say I misinterpreted which is my fault or anything since you said the wrong thing.

Really I don't think anyone but you had a hard time understanding that especially if you had read or understood any of the previous posts before that one like this one

From: IceFire908
If you cbf to fix it that's fine I really dgaf but it would be nice if you reverted to the SMART before this one in the none simba folder.

Then you would know what I was talking about, but it really doesn't matter. Nothing in this thread was ever intended for you, but thanks for wasting my time.

From: i luffs yeww

Well considering SMART is written in a language that I'm not familiar with and one BenLand is fluent enough in to write a program as complex as SMART in a plugin. I'm not about to go and learn the language SMART is written in and spend hours trying to understand enough just so I can do something BenLand can do in less than 10 minutes.

Ice,

You just gave me a mini wall of text to neither answer or help me ;)

Also they were talking about Timer I believe.

Did you miss this?

First of all, whether or not anyone at all uses SCAR is irrelevant. If you want to know the answer to such a question that is as off topic and derailing as that one, please do it somewhere else. I don't care where, no one wants this to be another simba vs SCAR thread, especially not me. And by discussing and asking such questions here is nearly impossible to avoid with this many people of such a 'small' attitude is only going to lead to exactly that.

All I'm going to say here in this thread, is that your statement is incorrect in this thread, because it is. If you want the answer to that question then follow the instructions listed above. It's real simple.

It's pretty clear I don't want to talk about that here, I answered your question, if you want an explanation you'll have to do it somewhere else. Bashing pit, off topic, MSN, AIM, it doesn't matter. This thread isn't the place.

Thanks, your latest commit actually works. Doesn't that feel better? Knowing your program actually works

I'd take what you said seriously if it wasn't coming from a guy that prides himself on being a jackass.

You are in a very bad mood now, but I'll just mention that you said "it's irrelevant" which is simply side stepping the question. It is not making it a SCAR vs Simba thread, it is asking who else that you know of uses SCAR with SMART to auto RS (that's what you're talking about; the inability for you to use SCAR and SMART). You simply made it seem like lots of people use it for autoing RS but I've seen none. Then I was curious, I'm legit not trying to sound like a dick I just want to know.

lol, umad bro? i don't have you're self-esteem issues, or wherever this comment came from, sorry. i don't base my self worth on whether or not a highly successful and widely used program of mine works in a rather outdated and buggy program. for that matter, it worked fine, there were just some kinks that needed working out in the compile process to get it to work in scar. and i might be a jackass, but i also know what i am doing. not listening to me just because you don't like how i operate seems kind of silly. can't we all just get along?

E: I'm confused. I swear I downloaded SCAR off your website a few days ago, and I just looked and its v3.22 ? I guess this is what I'm trying to maintain compatibility with? I honestly don't know anymore.

Simba does things differently, here's a perfect example of a coder having problems adapting http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60368 to the new environment.

wow you have an example of one person who had issues. lets link to every other scripter thats used scar and switched to simba and doesnt have issues to counter your pointless argument.

Wizzup?

Simba bitmap approach makes sense, you just have to understand it. I'll write some more information on it soon. New things take time to adopt, it's not weird some people have issues with the new system. It's different, but better. :) (imo)

They don't check, and IceFire doesn't know what he's talking about anyway. SMART basically just looks like a generic browser with a firefox-esque user-agent.

SMART doesn't currently send any user-agent (probably the default of Java/your_version_here) when it requests pages from jagex. It does send the correct user-agent when requesting the jar though.

Also, it doesn't have any SecurityManager like the real java plugin does, so it's still rather easily detectable from runescape's perspective. I'd advise not to use it on your main if you don't like the possibility of detection.

Before you all post about how they don't detect it, I'm not saying that they currently do, I don't know as I haven't looked recently. All I am saying is that they *could* detect it this way.

Funny, you have access to Jagex's macro detection methods?

Yea, actually I do, part of them anyway, and the information they gather for the rest of it. Funny thing is, there's this mystical thing called the Runescape Client that lets you play the game Runescape. You might have heard of it. See, you sort of interact with Jagex servers through that client, and since it's written in Java its pretty easy to see what sorts of things they look at. Not that you would know about the client though, since its super-secret. Seriously, though, IceFire, could you just piss off and stop posting in threads I make? You're just a troll wasting everyone's time.

Anyway, all of that is trivial to the long standing main account I've always used to test SMART, which is unbanned. Simply using SMART is not going to get you banned, end of story.

I think ben is correct in this case. He knows what he's doing, and from what I've heard from other poeple who also know what they're doing, they seem to be correct. There is crurently no code in Jagex's client which allows them to see anything from smart.

The server side can take your IP, etc., which isn't "directly provided" by the RS client. But, in essence, yes.

This is quite true, however, it's been this way for pushing 4 years now, so I think its pretty safe to assume Jagex doesn't care. For all their attacks on the botting community, not once have they targeted SMART or programs like it.
