Hello! :)

Well, MSI now has 14 scripts with Woodcutting and Mining combined, and Magic and Fishing, I imagine, will be done in the next couple weeks. The thing is, I'm betting the majority of people have no idea that we have a 14-in-one script let alone know which scripts are included.

So, we need some advertising ideas. Ways to let the people know just how big MSI is. Here's a couple things I've thought of.
  • Updating this thread would be a good start. :p I'll get to that shortly. I could list EVERY script we have, then link to the Supported Locations thread for further explanations.
  • Signature advertisements. Not just ones that say MSI Phoenix, but maybe ones that say All-In-One Miner, All-In-One Woodcutter, or even just individual scripts that are deemed most popular.
I was thinking that maybe it seems too complicated to setup or something for newly registered users. I'm not sure exactly what we can do about that, but here's a couple ideas.
  • Write an msi.sex extension that downloads the files (including the player remote to /Extensions).
  • Getting the player form done! I think having 2D arrays in the player setup throws some people off.
Thoughts, ideas?

The two suggestions you made seem to be the most important (player form and sex) to me. It would make it much easier for general nubs to use MSI, and would encourage testing :)

Having cool looking logos in our sigs will also make a big difference.

Yes, Frement made some awesome ones here. We could always get him to change the text to whatever we want. :) I'm sure he wouldn't mind.

I think as soon as we advertise SRL as whole, MSI will get a lot more attention as well. Considering it is probably the most reliable and active script base at this time. MSI is probably well known at the already active members, so the focus should be on new members.

While the Script Manager doesn't receive a lot of coding love (atm), it may be wise to create a msi.sex extension for the time being. We could add it to the Simba installer if it becomes really popular. It is also very important to have a few good tutorials on how to use and install MSI / Simba, as that is probably one of the hardest parts for new users. (Apart from finding their way to villavu)

Actually, I am a big fan of msi.sex right now as that would eliminate the need for everyone to install Subversion. It's up to you guys of course.
Perhaps someone can finish this too then: http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57565

Okay that sounds good. Thanks, I'll make a thread in MSI regarding this. :)

Have the signature bars link to a main 'presentation' thread.

Sticky a topic about MSI in the Scripts section, as a community script.

Get the extension finished (it was pretty much done, just needs a bit of cleaning & tweaking)

Make a thread once we reach 15 scritps :)

Make a thread for 20 hehe. Sounds better.

Also, stop making every freaking thread indented >.<

Generate some video footage. That seems to be a very effective way of advertising. Also, a direct link on the portal could be nice.

And yes you are true, I have never even tried one of your scripts…….

A video would be a cool idea. There's already a sticky in the script section, I just need to update it. I'm moving tomorrow to I've been busy saying goodbyes and such, but I'll have all the time in the work when I get there. :)

I would suggest pointing our MSI signatures to this thread:
http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56614

As I currently have it.

Yeah I meant to do that as soon as I updated that thread. Thanks for reminding me. :)

So basically everything in the first post is done, but I was looking at stats earlier and noticed that we don't get many (hardly any, actually) Anonymous commits, while Harry's three scripts are basically all Anonymous with the odd registered user. Why? Because our thread in the scripts section is boring and doesn't specify what we offer in the title.

I've thought about suggesting bringing skill categories back, that way we can have a thread in each skill that MSI supports. More scripts are being written, so it may not be a bad idea. Could also create a thread for each skill in the Public Scripts section, but I that shouldn't be necessary, plus I'm sure people will complain.

Any ideas?

E: Also, when you go to links like this, MSI doesn't show up, which isn't a good thing.

I don't think reintroducing the skill categories would be a bad idea. Though, I'm not really sure how to go about bringing in more activity. I'll have to think about that for a bit.

Yeah. Like people that come to SRL go straight to the scripts page, and I'll bet 99% of them skip right over the MSI thread.

we need to adjust the mainpage, the portal page This is entirely controlled through the vba CMPS tab. It is divided into individual column, each with their own properties. Portal should maybe look more like this:

Welcome to SRL!

Free Bot!
Open Source!
Friendly Community!
Free Multi Script Includes!

Download Simba.

To the Forums

and the left or right tab with:

Help
Setup Simba
Setup SRL
Setup MSI
Wiki
Manual

and the other tab: A vid or animation with S.M.A.R.T./MSI scripts running.

Yes maybe?

I like that idea a lot WT. We (/you/someone) should make a new thread about it in public and hear what the people want :)

Yeah that certainly looks much better. Would be neat if we could incorperate a cool image for the main links. Also, Fakawi, look here http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?p=816732#post816732.

What about having just two columns? The wide one on the left, and the other two combined into one on the right.

I like it, much cleaner. It's simple, but effective. I do think it needs to look more appealing though. Something like this perhaps? You can create different ones and add stuff to it here. The more times a word appears, the bigger it's text is. I used this this:

Simba Simba Simba Simba MSI MSI MSI open-source open-source free free free botting Runescape-bot SRL SRL SRL Reflection Reflection Reflection friendly-community legal scripts SRL-Stats community free open-source Simba MSI SRL color color undetectability undetectability friendly-community
You could literally randomize them forever until there's on you like. :p
