Hey,
So, one of my favorite old pkers was banned while I was raising his range. So I had heard that writing how you are going to commit suicide in your appeal was an instant get-back. Well, it didn't work, and cops showed up at my house (I had told my brother what to do, so he wrote the appeal) and scared the crap outa him with a good talking-to. Yeah so, don't do that, they can figure out where you are very quickly! (Within 4 days I think with me).

search all threads for the user brian, there was a big thing over this.

He had to take a sanity quiz also. And over 2k in medical bills.

You couldn't just tell them that you were lying? It isn't as if it is illegal to lie on an appeal.

If they didn't have a warrant you could make them leave.

That's kind of embarrassing (for your brother lol)… but I would just say "Was joking, sorry for wasting your time" or something like that.
It's not like lying on the internet is illegal. Hell, it usually isn't illegal in real life either :s

Hmm… I've been thinking - What happens if you go to like a friends house and send a suicide appeal :rolleyes: Or someplace like the library, but there they probably wouldn't even bother checking.

Wow this is messed up I didn't think jagex cared that much lolz. I think it was more of a hassle for them than to just unbann silly tho.

You should remember that if you play on the account with your ip. for a long time and then just send in the appeal from another they can easily figure out which ip. to trace..

Jagex has to report any of that kind of an activity.. Since it is for your own godo tho.

That is directly threatening others. A suicide threat is only threatening yourself.

Yeah but attempted suicide is still a pretty bad crime. If you're willing to commit suicide that means you don't care about your life - You might end up like one of those school shooters who ends up killing himself >_<

This is the second thread so far. I think they're telling the truth.

But what gets me is, how do the cops have the right to show up at your house because you said "I'll suicide" online? Pretty sure they can't be there without a warrant, and how could they get one for that?

its not a crime to commit suicide, since you can't really be formally charged when you are dead…attempted suicide is a crime, and thus exclaiming you are going to commit suicide is an investigatable happen stance

yes, make sure you do your appeal on an account with more than 2 computers actively playing. so for example if you play rs 3/4 of the time at the library and 1/4 at your house then send the appeal from the library… then the library is in for a surprise. It is possible that they send to your other ip, so basically suicide appeals just arent a good idea. Did it get denied or was it still pending?

Its a crime to commit suicide??? Murder? And what is attempted suicide supposed to be, if you have a stab wound, "Missed the turkey." Or a bullet hole(lol), "He went that way!!" I think its crazy for them to do that.

I don't think Jagex really cares if you commit suicide. They just have to inform the police according to law.(im guessin :p)

Really jagex is only keeping runescape for the money. They don't REALLY have a heart for people or kids playing out there.

Long story short; JageX makes a big deal over this situation because they don't want to be sued. I know for a fact that some of you read the stories of people dieing playing WoW, and family suing Blizzard… They don't want that. lol.

I don't think suicide itself is a crime, but for Jagex to let you commit it is.

I think Jagex has some sort of responsibility in this situation. I remember reading a story a while ago about how some kid in WoW claimed to be suicidal to try to scam stuff from a Mod. He ended up getting arrested. It's never a good idea to claim that you're going to off yourself, because people don't joke around about that. Too high a risk of lawsuits, not to mention the bad publicity.

I have sent one suicide appeal-but nothing happend so far :)

My friends friend commented once a newspaper article that hes going to kill prime minister and the same day KAPO(THE SECURITY POLICE BOARD-its the same like CIA in US) was knockig in hes door xDD he was in interrogation almost 4 hours lol
So be very careful what u say in internet-people may think it is true!

I'm not going to lie… Jagex is acting stupid. If I were in their position, of course I wouldn't allow the player to get banned, but at least leave 1 chance.

Are you *really* willing to gamble with life like that? I'm not. Neither are the police or Jagex. This kind of stuff isn't unheard of, and a small visit from the police is the least anyone could do while "doing the right thing".

Yeah, I used a few suicide appeals back in the day, but they're really about as classy as sucker punching a pregnant woman. With the exception of Brain (medical bills were wayyyy out of line), I'm going to say "sucks to be you bro, but you asked for/deserve it." Perhaps you'll learn a thing or two.

a) Jagex could care less about your autoing; and
b) The CIA (I hope) has MUCH better things to do then come knocking on your door.

yes I'm sure the government monitors every single piece of electronic communication in existence. Especially the ban appeal messages sent to an online gaming company. You're just starting to figure this out? Big Brother is everywhere…

Unless you always used a proxy to play on that account they would still have your info… just sending in the appeal from a proxy wouldn't conceal you… you'd have to have never of logged in not using a proxy.

How is this even possible… they can't trace ur exact location by ip..
If they got the info from ur isp then that's breaking fourth and first amendment, I am pretty sure they did not find you by ip… I find it hard to believe jagex would have the power to do this…
If jagex could do this then how come I have never seen anymore of this happen with other things.
This would be the first time I have ever heard of this happening.

Jagex can know where you live by how you pay them not by ip.
