Hello evryone. As some of you might know some srl members are devolping Reflection. A client reading include for scar (SMART based).

In this turial I'm going to explain how to instal the latest reflection, and how to make propper use of it.

To instal reflectioin, simpely run this script:

This is a very good tutorial, but to avoid installing extra unneeded software, why not just go to the start meny and copy-paste "svn checkout http://scarreflection.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ scarreflection-read-only"? That'll work much better, seeing it as MOST people already have subversion, and moving the files from "My documents" to the Reflection folder wouldn't be too hard.

And, "propper" is spelled "proper", I think.

No, there isn't a chance anymore.
I talked to Zephyr about this, and he said that the devs decided not to bring it in srl.
Because srl is based on colors and not on reading the client.
He said that they find it usefull, but it will not be added in srl.
It might come in later revisions though:)

if your talking about n3ss3s his one, he has "an other way" of including the reflection file. If you edit some stuff in the script it should work fine.

just change
{.includes srl/srl/misc/reflection.scar}
to
{.includes srl/srl/reflection/reflection.scar}
AND:
add SetupReflection; after SetupSRL;

are you using xp 64 bit or xp 32 bit?
and what version of tortoise have you downloaded?

nvm now the pics work but when i try to do the checkout it says file access is denied i guess that because i have vista so can somebody show me how t do copy and paste or how to let have file access.

Are you including the reflection files before you include SRL? If so, you need to include SMART first, then SRL next, and your other includes (reflection, skills, etc.) last.

i assume you are an admin for the computer you are at and if your not then get the admin to do this. Go to control panel, then to User Accounts. Under Users Accounts click "Turn User Account Control On or Off". Then restart your computer. It will work then.

ok, when i right-click the new folder i dont have the option to checkout using SVN. i have downloaded tortoiseSVN. i also dont have the little check marks on the pics of folders.

Did you install it, also? Just downloading it isn't enough.

Is the Rev 48 updated? i mean, the hooks, cause when trying to get my current X and Y i allways get something like 335544.
If the hooks are outdated, how can i get them? or is that site scarreflection.googlecode.com the only way to get them?

lol, have you installed the SvN program needed to actually use the repository?

i did everything accordingly but i have an exclamation mark…i know why…i edited amount.scar because coinamount has a "," by bmp…anyway so thats all

I haven't rebooted since creating the folder. I have obviously rebooted since installing SVN. @ Daniel.Blaze, I do have SVN installed. Could it be that I don't have it set up correctly?

EDIT: SVN is the same thing as Subversion that I use for the SRL updates right?

its kind of the same. i did some reasearch and its from the same people, this one looks like its an update…im not entirely sure, the only way to tell is just unintall everything then install scar and this svn, the in scar try to download srl rev 20…oh i had a problem once….open up you scar folder, go to includes and to srl….do you see red exclamation marks or green checks or what? mine had red exclamation marks because i edited my srl and messed with everything. just reintall everything

Hey, umm, i keep my pc SP1 cuz it runs waaaaayy better, i could still use rev 20, but i cant intall this svn. svn is just an automatic update tool right? so there are many out there right? i can use anyone i want as long as i use the same repository shown above right?????

In order to get the "SVN Update" text when you right-click on a folder or inside a folder, you need to have a GUI Subversion client installed. TortoiseSVN is one of these and should allow you to update your reflection folder just fine. It's still possible to do so with only Subversion, but you need to use the command prompt or terminal instead.

You may want to explain that whole 32/64 bit thing a bit more though ;)

A very important pic isn't showing, I go to checkout, don't know what to do from there.
I saw a post, and I guessed to put this - http://scarreflection.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ - in checkout, but now when I run the script I get this error -

Tortuse Kept crashing any system searching/Browsing software i had Powerdesk and Windows explorer both crashed repeatedly. I just downloaded the files seperatly Because It just wont work tried rein-stalling wouldnt work.

So if it crashes for you. You now know what you have to do = )

um, you phail :p but no problem.

This is what might work. First delete evrything in your includers folder. After you did that checkout srl by using scar and subversion. when you have the lasted srl try to follow my turial again.

I fail :( :D well I quess I am a bit sad with these things, and no, I am not 84 years old :P anyways, I cleared the includes folder, checkouted it with svn, it downloaded all the files except srl in it, after that i downloaded srl via scar and followed your guide once again.

You need to replace your SMART plugin with the one from the reflection folder.

You don't have the correct world prefix in SetupSmart, most of the world prefixes are "world" and then the number of the world

hey my computer was made by my friend so i don't have the service packs, and it says i need at least service pack 1 to install this. anyone know away passed this or passed buying the 129 dollar genuine xp software?

I have been trying to figure out reflection for quite some time to no avail. I tried manually installing the files and I used a script for installing the files that someone else posted. Nothing worked. (I think everything else was just out dated, and I had a different svn program?) anyways, thanks a lot, I finally have it working.

I got the same as this someone help, i have vista by the way :eek:

Checkout the folder to your Desktop, then move it to your SCAR folder in your Program Files folder. Vista doesn't really like you tampering with it otherwise.

Before you start you need the following program:

• TortoiseSVN (download here: 32 bit, 64 bit)

Download and Install it. After you rebooted your pc get back to the turial :p


ok the next step: Make a new folder in your srl map, locate it here:

.scar 3.15\includes\srl\srl\reflection\
now you have a map looking like:

now we are going instal reflecion. Right click on the just made reflection map and choose for "SVN Checkout".

The following form will pop up:

Fill the form in the same as above, and after that click ok.

SVN will install reflection now for you.

*Gratz point* you now have succesfully installed reflection






For scripters! that want to use reflecion in there script

• Reflecion will not work without smart!
• Include the reflection to your script:

  {.includes srl/srl/reflection/reflection.scar}

• an other very importand thing is to set the hooks up. you simpely do that by:

  Begin

SetupSRL; SetupReflection; // your script; End.

you will need to add this to your tutorial

Before finishing, you need to copy and paste everything from the second reflection folder into the main(first) reflection folder.Simple go to my computer, locate where ever your scar is,this is where i put mine in

C:\Program Files\SCAR 3.15 and SUB\Includes\SRL\SRL\reflection

open open scar3.15, find the folder includes, open SRL, the open SRL again, find the main(first) reflection folder, find the sub-reflection folder in the main reflection folder.After you do, you should have one sub folder and several files, copy them and paste them in the main folder as a back up. Restart your computer and you have fully installed reflection.

Your url in that picture says scarreflection/googlecode.com, instead of scarreflection.googlecode.com. Try fixing that and see if it works then.

For the people having trouble with Vista, move the reflection folder to your desktop, check out on your desktop, then move it back to it's previous location. (e.g. \srl\srl\… )

I get this error when i do svn checkout to install it to the reflection folder

it does this after like 10 seconds and the first few it says downloaded 4kbytes 4kbytes. I restarted my computer after the installation of the 32 bit program i am a admin of my computer(Vista). Someone please help me get this working.

hi i get this error when i run air crafter after i have done the reflection thing.

Another problem is that some of my files have a red dot instead of a green tick.
is this a problem?

I did everything and when I right click on the reflection folder there was no SVN checkout. I rebooted my comp and everything… I have a Vista btw. I even gave the program an admin prvilige but that didnt help. I also tried moving the reflection folder to my destop and tried right clicking but there still wasn't any checkout options.

reflection i dunno why its called that, but you know the little squares in RS? like your character fits on one square thats on the ground…anyway all those squares have coordinates…say (32,567) ! just like your screen with pixels yes. anyway reflection uses those squares instead of colors to move around. its more efficient and supposedly easier too. because npc spawn in like 1 location and stuff and so on…

I ran svn checkout on reflections folder, typed http://scarreflection.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ in url of repository, and when i pressed ok, I got
