New Application System

Well I posted this in thehttp://www.villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9782
thread but honestly I thought it was a good idea so I decided to repost it.

Application Points

– Basically a System of reputation developed only to be used by SRL Members / Developers / etc. to cut down on pointless applications.
– All SRL Members can give 1[one] point to each person they feel should apply. The reason I say 1 point is to keep it at the lowest number for SRL Members.
– All SRL Developers / Admins can give up to 3[three] points to each person they think should apply. The reason I say to give them more points is because they must have made good decisions / be smart to get their status so I think they would be able to recognize good members themselves.
– The "Apply" Section would be invisible until you reached a certain amount of Application Points [AP] and a private message would be sent to let the person know that they can now apply if they wish.

PROS

– Dramatically will cut down on bad / pointless applications.
– Will get rid of copied scripts.
– Still gives everyone a vote on who should get in.
– Makes SRL Members be more active in the forums.
– Gives more deserving people the chance to Apply.

CONS

– Takes a bit more time to find good applicants.
– May upset people when the "Apply" Section vanishes.
– Quiet scripters who are good may not be recognized.

In Conclusion

I think that the PROS massively outweigh the CONS and If I had a forums and knew how I would honestly employ this system.

Make this a poll and this is a great idea. However we would need all SRL members to be very active in free section.

I like meanage's plan with referrals better.

If we do end up going relying on a rep system (which I don't like) then we definately need to lay down some guidelines about when you should give rep, and when you shouldn't. Right now it is way too arbitrary with people getting rep for helping noobs with simple mistakes, while other people who spend their time making great scripts don't.

I think we will overlook too many people :s….maybe we could have like a new button or something that a non member can click on and it makes like the thread name a different colour for admins/members and then we know that they want there script looked at….would also help with the copybusting because they would have to release there script meaning if it was copied a lot more people would see it and would know if it's copied or not…just an idea

I think if we didn't have something like this we would be getting spammed by PM's lol…over all it's a good idea but needs a bit more planning/thinking/organising

I was thinking this as soon as I started to read your post.
– Quiet scripters who are good may not be recognized.
But all the other ideas would be cool.

Lol, I rep people if thier posts make me laugh, I dont like the rep system at all.

The post hes talking about:
I think there should be no option to apply, instead if a Dev or someone notices that a person has made a few good good script, have been friendly and helpful then they can refer them, when they are reffered a PM is sent to them with a link to create thier application and a guide telling them what to put on it and an example of a good app, they then create thier app and it is posted in the app section and people vote and post the same as they do now.

This would encourage people to always be good, helpful, make useful posts, and create scripts until they are reffered, by then they would be ready and have got into good habbits. It would also mean every app is ligit.

hmm I think that way too many people would be missed. DEV's are pretty busy and I doubt that they'd want to go hunting for people who they think could be members. They would also recieve a gazillion PM's. Also a DEV might not think someone is worthy to app but everyone else might think that person is so should probly be more than just Dev's

It doesnt have to be decided by devs maybe, if either 1 dev or 3 members say they deserve members then thier referal should go through, that could work better. Better than noobs think they deserve it because they have just made thier 1st auto login and have finally reached 10 posts, or because they got a script to compile

Thank you! Finally someone agrees that rep is dumb.

Well like what I was saying it would be like people referring someone to be a member it would just be like 1 Application Point is like 1 person referring them, and when they get like 10 or so, they would have the option to apply, thats basically what you've been saying and thats what I was thinking.

EDIT: Also could an admin please make this a poll.

Implement this New System?

PS: We could vote all we want, it's really up to Dankness…whether or not he wants to spend the time to implement this

Yea rep and application point would be totally unrelated, or then technically free users could give application points if rep and AP were the same.

Hey any more thoughts on this idea? Good / Bad? Needs this and that? Because I really think something needs to be done when I can get a copy bust of a person who tried to copy a script for the second time in 1 day.
