Semi-AntiLeech suggestions

Ok, well let me start off by saying that I know there are threads about the antileech rule, this is a different topic I'd like to discuss with Members. I've made a number of RS07 scripts that have been working fairly well for me, great profit and pretty solid. I'd like to release them, commit to the forums (have been inactive for a while) but I don't want them to be abused. Anti-leech if I'm not mistake refers to a script that doesn't compile or doesn't run properly. What if I added a time limit to the script to terminate after a certain amount of time, It wouldn't take much knowledge to change it obviously, but it would encourage people to actually look through the script to find a solution. Not only would it stop people from abusing the moneymaking method, but it would also encourage people to learn a few simple functions. Please no flaming, no childish responses. I saw a thread where hobbit stated it causes frustration, but, we can provide these people with some tutorials as to getting the script running for long periods of time. Honest to god, I rather have a couple frustrated leechers rather than a ruined game. From what I understand we are one of the very few forums that provide bots for RS07. Lets not be responsible for the crash of the game in a year. We can post scripts, but not include antirandoms, let people add the antirandoms themselves. We wouldn't want people to get banned so removing antiban wouldn't be fair. Some major botting sites decided not to release bots for 07 and I'd hate for US to be responsible for the crash of the game.

Give your suggestions as to what we can do to prevent total loss of the game without an antileech

Make the script limited without some editing. My chicken killer, for example, has the looting function inside a {$ IFNDEF LITORISPWNS} thingy, and unless someone defines LITORISPWNS or erases the statements, they can't get the script to loot.

You can get creative with this sort of stuff. If you really don't want them abused, release to members+.

Litoris, if we get creative with our public scripts, we can keep the people happy and have keep the game from becoming what it is now (rs2). We worked our way to a members rank and we literally have very little to no benefits from this rank, but we have a good name in great community which is good enough for me. THAT'S why I don't want Villavu to be responsible for RS07 crash.

You guys are trying to compete with the admins choice, I know it's annoying but you're probably better off releasing to the members section if you don't want it abused… even then some people leak.. So maybe keep it to yourself?

Jagex being jagex listens to their members. We're SRL Members. We should have a voice. Xtrapsp, tell me. What are the benefits of being a SRL member. It's a community rank, if the majority of the ranked community is against a decision. Couldn't it be considered? I'm not saying don't allow rs07 bots, I'm just saying don't allow every 12 year old kid leech and kill the game for the people who worked hard to get there

I'm 100% with you. But as the picture I posted displayed, the admins have power and we will get shot down for trying to appeal it.

We are not living under a dictatorship, they do like to see our opinions and more often then not do take them into consideration when making rules etc.

Yes, but at the end of the day they have control. They've already implemented the rule and we have a thread about it with their views..

But a thread like this is "different" and that is what I want to personally see how it is different, killing it here and now would do no justice to the thread and the view being expressed.

I would like to think that the following is possible:
A script can be considered without anti-leech if it does not look like a bot in some manner (at least on purpose) and it accomplishes at least 1 portion of its designation without any sort of editing.

What do I mean by accomplishing its designation? I mean it somehow either collected, improved your money, or gained experience in the goal area at least once. IE: An enchanter would accomplish enchanting a minimum of 1 object; An ash collector picked up at least 1 ash; A fisher successfully caught at least 1 fish.

It would still be considered a capable script (whether or not it included the capabilities for more, simply unimplemented)-
If it did not contain a loop to continue.
It failed to bank the collection.
It dropped the objects it successfully collected.
It played Rebecca Black through your speakers.
It lacked a progress report.

I hardly killed it. I gave 2 other options.

What is your problem?

I don't have one, recently you have been extremely hostile towards everything (rjj, stuff) ill drop it here though no need to waste space on this topic. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk further.

I'm not going against the decision but as More potential scripters, if we decide to release rs07 bots, we should limit how users get to use this. I've got an idea that I'll be releasing in a few weeks but as for now let's limit leechers from full functionality of our scripts.

XoL we don't live here, we're not forced to be here, but if the community is going to effect the gameplay of millions of users, I think changes should be made.

I'm not starting a poll, I'm not saying the admins are wrong. I'm saying as members lets do something about this situation.

Very well put! Mind if I add this to OP?

Thank you! Fell free to add it/change it as you see fit, these are all personal opinions after all.

Right… I was backing what you said earlier, thus by saying its not a dictatorship and they do take opinions if we have them..

The only solution to this would be to make good scripts Members+. It would motivate people to learn scripting and apply Members.
Sadly our Members scripts section is kinda deserted atm…

From what I understand, there is plenty of leeching even here in Member's. People who farm gold and leech may be lessened here, but even here it exists to some extent.

As a side note to all of this - I think it would be quite interesting to have a Junior Member's script section for people who want their scripts more limited, but don't feel like it's special enough to limit it to Member's+.

Its still nothing compared to those 5k views on public scripts (07).

I've remade my AIO crafter-smither-herb-fletch for rs07 but I don't want to release it to a bunch of little children who have nothing but complaints.

From: RAM

Basically any script released, must compile, run, and do what it is advertised…Example, a 'Power Fisher", will Fish, drop them and get you fishing XP, a "Fishing script with Banking" will bank the fish pixels…..anything hidden in it will be considered malicious. As the author, you have the right to release different versions…IE, lite versions for the public section, more advanced versions for the Member's section. If you're not a member and are capable of writing your own script in multiple versions, then you're probably ready to apply for membership with said script…..As the author, you have the right to include the option to be "Power and/Or Bank" …if you are just looking for feedback on your Fishing methods, then only post the power version, …..

years ago, to combat the level 3 characters with default clothing "Bots", there were different methods of "Anti-leech" incorporated into scripts…then the fad of level 3 "Skillers" came about and similar discussions about what is "fair"…

Much time, thought and discussion has went into these decisions and it's been a delicate balancing act of trying to keep everyone happy and do what is in the majority's best interest…..

More changes and restructuring to be implemented soon…not everyone will be happy, such as life, but as a community, it can still be discussed here and perhaps more viable solutions can be made….

Maybe an effective anti-leech[or maybe anti-goldfarmer would be the most politically correct way to put it] would be to just not have the script run if the user's combat lvl < 20.

rj

Good basic anti leech techniques:

-No banking
-No SMART
-Release to members only

only ways I can think of without making the script malfunction

how about… something that would make the script crash. That way it will compile and run :)
