Any advice where to begin in making a walking function for 07 runescape?

I don't mind learning what functions to use, I just need a a process I guess.

For example, if I were to program a script to walk from Varrock East mine, would I use the color of the road to help guide me or…?

That would be a good start, radial walk could be good for that. Or even try your hand at getting the sps07 stuff to work. But I would start with browsing through tutorials that mention walking to see what you find :)
