But yeah, they'd actually lose money if they charged now, IMO. It was mostly just a huge PR stunt, and it clearly has paid off.

If they charge then I believe even less will play '07 once fee starts but time will tell.

It was also stated that if the high number of players stay active up to the end of the 6 month free period they will make it free for longer, even forever.
"Now that Old School RuneScape has been launched we need to see how many players will actually use the service on a regular basis, should the community continue to grow and players remain engaged then the service will remain as a free benefit to our cherished members."

lmfao itll be free for sure for the next 6 months. and if they see a grow in the community theyll keep it free. but if the community size declines theyll charge for it

Of course they are going to give 6 months free. They KNOW as soon as they start charging extra players will decline. But if people are still around after the 6 months, they will be more inclined to pay the extra money. Basically a PR thing. I still think this is doomed to fail.
