Are there any benefits from donating? Just curious is all.

You get:
also you get to have an avatar ( believe?) without having to be a member or junior member.. whichever it is

and when you become a member / junior member it'll increase your avatar size maximum

People just made an account here, few posts, claiming to have donated, but no proof(cup/screenshot) or response after their first post about 'donating'

Personally I'd say it's fake since you get the cup like instantly when you donate (at least I did)

Wish I could donate, but PayPal doesn't work for me in China for some strange reason :( … Will do something about that when I move elsewhere in less than a year now.

There is no system behind it - it's Hobbit - unless you consider him a machine :) So it depends on him, took a couple days for my donation to be processed.

you were lucky, though I'm sure it's faster today.. way back when I donated it took a month+ to get the cup, I was super nooby and didn't really post much so probably nobody noticed :P

I just donated to see how long it would take to get the cup. Lol.

Doesn't PayPal have mechanics that would allow you to donate from a given link, with it giving POST data so you know which user it was? I'm a noob with all that, though, so I'm not sure how it all works.

Yes, but Hobbit doesn't have access to the paypal account so he can't do the necessary setup to get it to interact with the forum's plugin. So this way works also :)

maybe mine was a year too, I was just being nice about it :P

I came here, got some scripts and donated.. and then came back like a year later, I only stayed for <4 or so weeks before I took my year off lol. Never really been interested in RS
