Runescape 2007

So I'm wondering how far we are with botting on this new old Runescape?

I've restored the old srl-opendev repository: http://wizzup.org/repositories/srl-opendev/

So you can use it to find the exact revision if required. Also, why is all the work (if there is any) held from the public?

I'm interested in the current plan. Will we port over the old SRL and its plugins to Simba 0.99? Do we have all the plugin sources or do I need to dig deep in my archives?

Or will we port the current SRL and pick whatever we can use from the old SRL?

Personally i would love to keep it for members + aslong as possible because i really don't want this "oldschool" runescape to die super quick :/

No idea, powerbot will affect it more than us anyway,

I'd go with

port over the old SRL and its plugins to Simba 0.99

I checked my backup of the open-dev repositories earlier today. It goes back to 2009, I think we need at least the 2008 ones.

OK. I have older ones (the entire srl development repo as well, which has all the commits until we went srl-opendev). I can open this one up later too. (It has like 2500+ commits and goes back way to the start of SRL)

I think porting old stuff to work with 0.99 would be the best way.
I don't think SPS was around in 2007 was it? I'll look into it.

Essentially we just need to get compass angle and change coords and maps to make it work.

Markus

SRL dev isn't too useful imo.
You know, this RS is from october 2007 right? Though it may seem weird, I vote for backporting an SRL from somewhere mid 2008. Why? Because the include was in a pretty aweful state around october. In 2008, most/all of the randoms were solved (not sure exactly when, but there definitely was a short period in which all randoms were solved with colour.) Besides a couple of very minor interface updates it should work just fine overall.
In fact, the entire SRL include has changed very little since SRL 4. Mostly bug fixes and a couple of new functions here and there.

@JJ hell no. As an oldfag, I can say SPS is very very new stuff. Heck even SMART didn't exist back then: KYAB and later Cherokee were the way to go.

I have SPS working, but:

07 has the RS MM/MS wobble, -+25 degrees off actual compass north, and the minimap colors vary greatly on area reloads

Think its better to make a temp include because once SRL6 comes along we can make a 2007 style include with all the new features, just my take on it :p

I'm interested. This thing really took off for Jagex.

Anyway, as Markus said, randoms really need to be working. People right now can basically pin-point all bot like characters. Especially with no FTP to blend in with other bots.

I could move the plug-ins in a new version of Simba. It is true looking at the code, I'm not sure what they want in this form.

PS: But certainly if they were the source code of the ACA2, I could rewrite it cross-platform with the latest changes Simba.

Reflection is viable on RS as well. The reason why we stopped deals with legal issues with AES (essentially makes it illegal in the USA). While RS 2007 doesn't have AES, it isn't wise to do it now that we know Jagex can quickly make it illegal. Developers were targeted around the time of the bot nuke in October 2011, so I'd rather not have that happen again. It's best to stay away from it unless you get some developer in a country where that is irrelevant.

Edit:
With that said, if it comes down to a single anti-random needing some hooks, then perhaps it can be considered. But it shouldn't be depended on given how easy it is for Jagex to kill it if you have a US developer.

2013-02-24 10:08:40

What about plans for a reflection only include, remember right before they broke reflection with their first 'bot nuke' we were close to making reflection include stand alone?

Our old ways of reflection will still work, correct? (or did they implement their first bot nuke code?)

That would allow super easy walking, and maybe some other stuff.. that people wouldn't have to fix all the time, so keeping up with a 2013 and 2007 runescape wouldn't be as hard-

and also allow huge scripts that maybe walk around the runescape world and do lots of different things to work much easier. Not everyone is as amazing as WT-Fakawi and can make scripts do lots of different things, in different places, without failing =[

Ah alright, was typing mine while you posted.. that makes sense though I didn't know they can make it illegal so easily

The only reason I think reflection would be a good idea, is because a lot of time goes into color, and most people don't have a lot of time.. so keeping up with two separate runescapes is a lot of time wasted, unless we can somehow make includes that work for both 2007 and 2013+ it'll just be two separate projects where we lose good people on both sides, similar to how the scar separated the community and we lost a few good people to the include etc

The bot-nuke is irrelevant. November-December 2011 saw several more developers beating the bot nuke. Somewhere around that time AES was added and within weeks, every US/Canadian developer that I know of stopped developing a public bot. There were some that continued to develop their own private bots.
It's legal issues, not technical issues that I'm concerned about. While there are no legal issues (at the moment) to worry about in RS 2007, it is rather easy for Jagex to re-add AES and make it illegal. In short, it's not a viable method now that we know they can legally kill it (again, US only, apparently European laws allow it).

Yea I caught your post after I posted :ninja:

but yea as I said in my edit on the other post, I didn't know it was that easy for them to add the illegal thing. but I was just thinking:
they're probably waiting, and wanting people to develop their reflection stuff at powerbot etc, so they can slap on their illegal stuff and then a bunch of people just wasted their time etc

J J

2013-02-24 10:32:21

The gamepack is not encrypted on RS2007 but they added multipliers to the classes.
And yes Jagex is not stupid, there is a big chance they will indeed do this

Does anyone know the law in The Netherlands? I have some software law classes on university but not really about this kind of stuff. More about open-source software and a little bit about reverse engineering software and when it's allowed. The law system is pretty weird regarding software so it wouldn't surprise me if I could make reflection without Jagex being to do anything.

I don't have the knowledge yet but I know a fair bit of Java and have a good understanding what needs to be done. Would be interesting to do for the knowledge alone already.

Looks like everything prior to 2010-04-12 is fine to go (that's the day of the font update, and Simba development became a bit more active around then because Freddy was sloww). The main thing you want is good, functional antirandoms. We used to have 100% random solving with color around those days. Get that, then backport all the interface updates (which really isn't a lot of work, most likely just the regular pixel/coord updates we are used to).

I think the linked srl-opendev doesn't go back far enough

for the moment, porting seems feasible and do-able since most functions are being heavily removed/reduced in complexity

also, to kinda broadcast my thoughts on a related/off-topic from this topic:
I think making working public includes for public use is a goal (for me at least)
If people want to privatize scripts, I of course understand that, but learning with functionality for old school includes is essential for a lot of new users to this site, I think.

Good call, I looked up the /SRL/ git page, found https://github.com/SRL/SRL-007

Nothing has been added yet, so putting outline/placemark files into that repo would help put the overall project / end goals into perspective. (although it's really just deleting some files and redo'ing login/worldswitcher/any changed interfaces, for the most part at least.

I'm assuming the SRL/SRL-007 part on git will be updated with more official updates/progress, however I threw together some edited includes on my git (see below)

https://github.com/Fratello/OldSchool-RS-007

some things I recollect atm;
  • I marked the core files to be reviewed/etc. in the README
  • Merged J J's smartparams,
  • Added ashaman/DannyRS(/more?) functions for '07
  • removed some func descriptions (was drunk, idk why I did that tbh)
  • edited login.simba to work
  • removed some include files (ex. EoC action bar stuff)
  • upon RSReady, music is BY DEFAULT turned off

here's a example script (running simba 993, smart 8)

program new;
{$DEFINE SMART8}
{$include_once OldSchoolSRL/OldSchoolSRL.simba}

procedure DeclarePlayers;
begin
HowManyPlayers := 1;
NumberOfPlayers(HowManyPlayers);
CurrentPlayer := 0;

Players[0].Name := '';
Players[0].Pass := '';
Players[0].Pin := '';

Players[0].Nick := 'account nickname';
Players[0].Active := True;
end;

begin
SetupOldSchoolSRL;

// set mouse speed
MouseSpeed := 15;

// the world loaded via smart.
The_World := 54;

DeclarePlayers;
LoginPlayer;
end.

really, I created to try to get a place open for others to test out / come together to be able to collaborate in one spot. I still think it should get pushed to SRL/SRL-007 (main git), but don't be shy to edit the link I posted, I'll pretty much commit anything :]]

Add those in as well - Check out lj's branch we can build off of that. Also should dl those old srl 07 versions to get an idea for what kind of functions they had and how they solved randoms. But we should also wait for hobbit to see if he has any specific opinions on how we keep track of it

Edit: Yeah for now lets work off of lj's branch. I've been pushing a few fixes to the include for that. Also I am using the 2007 fonts from that dl someone posted on that other thread - they work for the most part

Markus

SRL hasn't changed much since 2007 (really, it's mostly bugfixes and a bit of cleaning things up) so it's mostly the same kind of functions.
The last big addition to the include were TPA stuff in Wizzyplugin (late 2007/early 2008). This is mostly the same functions.

Wizzup?

2013-02-28 07:04:34

Yeah; so if you're going to copy over (a part of) SRL; definitely start with the new SRL(-5) and not the old one, and just port over functions from the old one if you need them. All SRL developers have access to an even older repository, and they can probably find you a revision that is exactly what you need (depending on the date, etc)

E: And yeah, uptext and chooseoption should pretty much just work given that you have the right font and filters.

Couldn't we just take SRL-5, then throw out those that are not needed? I imagine that would be easier than trying to work from SRL4 especially when we have SMART/SPS and more intricate color finding funcs around
