I remember reading something about this guy. Thank God he trusted his instincts, otherwise we would've been screwed.

But if you read his quotes, he did have some hard evidence to back up his instincts that the USA did not actually launch a nuke.
"First, missile attacks do not start from just one base. Second, the computer is, by definition, brainless. There are lots of things it can mistake for a missile launch.”

No, they would have been screwed.. even canada couldn't hit us with a nuke. That's why we were hoping north korea shot one off when they were threatening us, because they'd shoot one at us, we'd destroy it in space, they'd get rustled, we'd put them in the ocean and nobody would have to deal with them every again

I'm pretty sure that during the Cold War if we shot a nuke at Russia, they would've gotten back at us somehow. They could've smuggled one in, launch their stockpile of thousands of nukes at us, etc.

nukes aren't fast, they can damage us for sure, by coming into our country on foot with guns / bombs / maybe even stealth jets, but we have stupid ridiculous nuke detection and prevention

Don't only listen to the western press.. Yeah sure, they are always provoking the west. But the west isn't innocent either. North korea is an ally of China and Russia in their history. So it isn't strange that US and north korea always got trouble… Also North Korea isn't a real nuclear thread. They will never launch one cause they can never win such a war. Let me guess, you are anti-Iran as well?

You seem somewhat misunderstanding the way the "anti-missile shield" works or actually how effective it is. It's mostly designed to counter 1950's missiles by the way. Also, tt can get saturated quite fast with any kind of missile and it's still in the "installation" phase. Furthermore, I think it's important to point out that North Korea doesn't even have the capability of sending long range missiles to USA, yet.

Finally, I'm not sure what to think about your assertion that a genocide of 25,000,000 people because you dislike the policies of one dictatorship is actually a great idea.

No, you don't have a "ridiculous nuke detection and prevention" system. Also, nukes travel at a speed between 4 and 7 kilometres per second, depending on the phase they're in. I don't know for you, but I consider it fast. You'd see the nuke explosion before hearing anything.

Of course, Iran can't reach you with nukes. They don't even have any…

In case someone still has any doubt about it, the reason USA is so concerned about Iran is only because of Israel. If you prefer, Iran is Israel's problem, not USA's. Of course, strong political ties between the two countries (or I should say between Israel supporting fundraisers and USA's congress and senate) make siding with Israel for pretty much anything a prominent policy.

Oops, I meant their missile range. They can reach 2000-2500 km but that falls way short of the USA. Let Iran and Israel wave their fists at each other, I just want the US to stay out of it.

This isn't the only Russian to do that. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, the US started to fire warning shots towards the nuclear submarine that was heading to Cuba, and the submarine had lost contact with mainland, so they had all reasons to believe that a war broke out and they could launch the nuclear weapon, but they didn't.

First, let me say that I am sure the mass majority of the people living in North Korea are Good People… however those that are in power there are definitely NOT….Really I suppose I should have simply posted this official North Korean government video they released recently instead of the other post that I truly did not know was totally valid, and for that lack of research I apoligise…… articles etc suporting this claim ar e linked below for authenticity. Also of interest is the fact that these videos have been being released by the NK regime on a rather regular basis….

"Last night, a truly beautiful dream unfolded before me
I rode the "Eunha [Galaxy]-9" rocket and shot towards space
Amidst the happiness and exultation,
The spacecraft "Kwangmyungsun-21" detaches
And flies through the majestic and infinite space.
Through the window is seen
Beautiful colors and distinct [mass]
A star shining through the darkness,
Towards a perfect green earth
[As I] continuously press the camera button
The lens quickly captures the waving unification flag of one fatherland.
The waves of passion make even my hands holding the camera weep
From somewhere, I can see the black smoke of America
Perhaps it is the appearance of the lair of evil, which employs an iron fist and the practice of wars of aggression, burning in the fire that set themselves..
A free and peaceful world which brings out only ecstasy and admiration of the whole universe seemed to be blessing our spacecraft "Kwangmyungsun-21."

Everyone, thing about it.
Chosun's [Korea's] spacecraft which flies over the backdrop of the sun's bright rays coloring space and its all.
My dream will surely be realized.
All kinds of isolationist and stifling machinations of the imperialists
Will absolutely not be able to block our people's path of progress towards a final victory
[Of a] unified and revived mightiness of the Baekdu mountain country [Korea]"

On topic, BOTH sides would have been screwed, as they BOTH have almost equal amount of nuclear weapons (now no one can really say WHO has more). Saying such non-sense as "no they would have been screwed and not us" is arogant and totally careless. It would be impossible to stop all the nukes from landing on either the US or Russia. Even if only 1 was let through the defence, it would STILL cause a great deal of damage.

Let's take this for what it is: propaganda.

According to prominent sources around the world, North Korea's last attempt at sending a ballistic missile into space failed miserably. They do not have the capability of attacking the US. Also, I believe there is a difference (an important one) between blabber and an actual security threat to the country spending the most in armaments worldwide. Even if North Korea had the technology to strike US, do you really think they would do so?

Also, rhetoric is used by plenty of other countries. I recall Bush stating that he'd return the Iraqians to the "stone age". Are we supposed to take such a comment literally?

As far as military parades though… the North Koreans put on a crappy show when compared to the former Soviet Union

North Korea [video=youtube;o0XYFW9G3eE]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0XYFW9G3eE[/video]

If a nuclear war broke out right now, Russia would definitely win. The US bluffs quite a lot. I'd put my money on Russia having the most nukes.

Western press has way too much propaganda in it. When they get a story, it's dragged on as long as possible until they get another.. Right now watching American news, all I can see is the case with the South African and that athlete and its been going on like that for ages!

Still in an all out war, I'd bet on Russia anyday. The US isn't invincible at all.
I also would NOT wipe out the Koreans at all :l all that crap is just western news. When the US can't have their way, they rage.

Russia and the US would never get into a nuclear war because of M.A.D. Neither would win. It doesn't matter who has the most bombs, a few bombs could do it assuming they weren't destroyed in the air/space.
