SMART is working great for me, I've just noticed many SMARTs in my simba path.. Are they necessary? Ex. SMART.268, SMART.680, pretty much all the way to ten-thousand. What are they for, and should I delete them?

You can simply delete them.
I'm think they are just caches of gamepack*.jar.
After you close SMART, they usually delete themselves (if you are using command line for example), I don't see any repercussions.
