2 Part movies?

Here is the question: Do you believe movie publishers/producers should make movies into two parts? (Ex. Harry Potter, The Hobbit, one of the Twilight movies.. Idk which one :p) Do you think that it is necesssary, or just a way for the producers to make double the profit? Explain.

I like it, because in most cases this happens when it is based off a book, meaning that when they make two parts it is truer to the book in my opinion due to the excess of screen time.

Exactly, all of the films you mentioned were adapted from novels. If they try and shove it into one movie then there wont be enough time for the plot/characters to develop.

^^this.
Also if both parts were to be in the same movie, it would be long and get boring.

They used to do that back in the day when they had these things called VHS and the movie was so long that it took up 2 cassettes.

Let's all gather 'round grandpa Echo_ as he takes us 'back to the day'.

IMO, I think it's smart on their part to release multiple part movies as they usually end a movie with you dying to see what happens next; higher chance of customers for the next part, no? Lol I dunno…

That's nothing compared to the Godfather trilogy, I have that too and it's 6 cassettes.

Yes, but why not just wait to release the movie, and include multiple parts for one long movie? I don't really like seeing half a movie, then waiting a few months to see the other part.

I don't really care. It's the same as a movie having a sequel imo.

Yeah, we threw away most of our VHS tapes :/ but we had a lot of double ones:P

Also: With DVDs, have you noticed that you don't get "bonus dvds" as much as you used to or is that just me? :P

Maybe they realized that people rarely watch the bonus material

I like it, but I don't like the long release periods between parts. :(

And ahh, the good ol' VHS tapes. I remember accidentally taping over something and dad getting so cross with me. :p
