Those of you re-subscribing for the "free" month of RS2007 are getting played. Realistically the 2007 server will not be up for another month or two, and cancelling your membership between then will likely result in you losing the "free" month of 2007.

…Therefore you're staying subscribed to a game you don't enjoy until 2007 is released, to receive a "free month" of members, whereas it would have been cheaper to subscribe upon release. Derrrrr.

Interesting.

Both RS will die if we dont get the 500k votes.
EOC RS is already dying.
And not many people will pay 23/13$ for 07 RS…

I sure as hell know I won't pay for a old version of a game when I know I can play for free. And I was hoping we would have our old accounts restored..

No way anything is dying…
There is so much content in the members game that it will be worth playing for a long time.
They are just trying to get rid of all the whiners by giving them 07 servers. People will realize how hard the game was back then and most likely return in a while. Those that do enjoy 07 will stop complaining, so it's win/win for jagex.

Short term atleast, few months maybe, I think current game will be a tad deserted, how many people return/stay to it is something we have to wait and see ;)

With an extra membership fee, I guess it's win/win/win for jagex, but personally I'm fine with that, if we get what we want by paying, I'm happy to pay, glad to see they realize this finally, maybe if they begin listening like this, they can survive long term again and stop bleeding out financially

Well actually, upon the vote reaching 50,000 they knew the server would be released. If I had to guess I'd say, since then, they've already been working towards getting it ready for launch. It shouldn't take too long; after all, it's already constructed, they just need the servers, new clients and such, and the team to maintain it. They have from now until the poll ends.

Would ruin it for newer players, Everyone starting again would be cool. Would get to see how the economy plays out and how fast bots adapt (and how fast we will have smart / something to allow us not to lose power over mouse made for it :P)

I wonder if they will adapt a decent bot detection software or not

They seem so ambivalent and not really interested in it :/

Aye it seems that way. They probably thought it was a dumb idea from the start; letting the new servers get swarmed with bots could be just a way of them saying "Told you so".

Instead of voting to bring back the old RS, I'd rather see them vote to remove the updates everyone hates. There have been a lot of updates since 2007 that I like (mostly graphics updates and full screen mode), and if all the garbage was removed, I might actually play the game again.

Yeah a lot of people would be for that as well. It's a hot topic on whether EoC was a smart decision or not; the number of people who adore it is almost evenly matched by the number of people who detest it.

I believe, however, a lot of the reasoning for bringing back an older version of Runescape is partly due to the growing popularity of recent 2006-style RS private servers. There's plenty of RSPS out there for the newer (and possibly current) RS, but the demand for the '06 style is still high.

Oh I see, well that makes sense I guess. I've actually thought about playing a private sever just to bring back memories. I'm too unfamiliar with the current game to start playing again, not to mention I can't stand all the pop up advertisements I get in the free version of the game.

If we reach 500k they will.. though probably we will get 500k not so hard.. funny part is about cost of service. if somehow we do not reach 500k of votes. that means you have to pay for membership on your account and if you want to play '07 you have to pay 5$ extra (that kinda sucks). best option would be to reach 750 somehow (I gave x2 votes, going to give more 2 soon).. :)

Thanks for the info. I wonder if we will reach 750k. We have got a heck of a long way to go.
I wonder how much Jagex has made from everyone resubscribing to vote. Interesting market strategy

yeah, though i create new accounts and invite other one to get 2membership = 2votes, (kinda because of that, but mainly for gold farm) so i take 2 rabbits with one shot :D

I find it very "Jagex" of them that as long as they are recieving $5-$15 from every player using the 07scape they don't really mind if people are botting and/or gold-farming on it.

Laimonas171

2013-02-26 08:14:50

yeah and though it should be F2P as well and now if we reach 750k you still have to have members account to play 07. if i get right their statement..

edit2: i guess no chances to get even 500k now :? it ands in 5 days+-

I think there needs to be a big push if everyone wants to make it.

People say Jagex are going to round up the votes, whether or not its true is a different story. I'm pretty sure Jagex would let stuff slide if it netted them some extra cash though. 100% sure we won't get 750k votes, unless a miracle happens.
