If this is a whole new game and you have to start all over, I officially quit.
Maybe this will be a good thing, if it is. Game addictions suck, but still better than others.

Interesting. I wonder how much this will adapt the game. Good to see a gambling update in the works this needs to be addressed.
Any idea how soon these updates will be?

In the very first picture it shows Mod Pip saying 'RS3 will be epic. Only a few months away'
I hope that somewhat answers your question. :)

Ah thanks. Kinda hard to read on iPhone.
That's still pretty vague. I remember them saying EoC was a 'few' months away ended up taking the better part of a year to get released.

Wonder how the new gambling system will work!

They better allow porting RS2 chars to RS3 or I will not even think of playing it.
Interesting, thanks for sharing with us Jakee :)
I wonder how this will affect reflection… Anyone with knowledge on the subject want to speculate?

"Runescape 3" is just a game engine update. It may as well be thought of as RuneTek 7, except its not really RuneTek anymore because it's going to be based around HTML5 not Java.

I want RS3 to be iPad and iPhone compatible. That would be epic.

If I have to start a new character I will quit. I have wasted too much of my life on runescape two to play anymore.

Awesome find Four, thanks for the updates!
I really hope I can use my current character in RS3, if not… I'll still play! ;) I'm sure it will be just like when they changed from RS Classic to the current, engine update.
The wildy updates.. I could care less. :D And the gambling, I hope it comes sooner than later. ;)

Why are they so desperate to keep it as a browser game? I thought the only games on browsers were meant to be played on miniclip.
Think of the potential if they made it downloadable! They're missing a trick there…

Well if they weren't a browser game they can't claim to be the "biggest browser game", which seems to be a big e-peen point for them.

One of the reasons RS was made on browsers was so it would be easier/more convenient to play. You could go to any nearby computer and play it in a few seconds (if that computer had Java of course). I don't think they'd make it into a downloadable only game because that would destroy one of the reasons it was made.

Exactly this. They better keep it browser. This is exacly the reason I play rs in the first place.

I recall that in the transition from rsc to rs2 you could import your character over, no?

Indeed. I imagine it'll be the same story in the upcoming release. They simply can't afford to drive off yet another mass amount of players.

I would be willing to start over from scratch, although RS couldn't possibly think of doing that because too many people would quit.

Why is "JAva Gaming EXperts" trying to transition from Java? I really don't get it, other than being able to play on something without Java.
I haven't really looked at any HTML5 games? What is the performance with WebGL for example?
Edit: Just looked at a game with Quake 4 assets. I am actually pretty impressed.
Good thing GLHook is being worked on. ;)

If that wa the case I would quit. I wouldn't see the point anymore.
Although it would be interesting to see how it would develop.

Yeah I have done but I have an active interest still and I mean once I completely remove my addiction then I will maybe loom into a one off playing session!

Im 90% sure that they will have something to do with group pking
I hope that they'll add more good resources in the wildy so that it advances the food chain.
Resource Gatherers < Solo Pkers < Group Pkers < Team Pkers
Right now there are no resource gatherers in the wildy so there's less reason for Solo Pkers to go there, and ect.
The gambling will suck… I can tell you that.
Wildy warbands and rs3 sound dec

I would be willing to start over again because there is so much I would change that it would make the game more enjoyable to me. I still enjoy playing RS (I am maxed and am pretty wealthy) yet I still enjoy standing there chopping logs for gp, or fishing, or mining (to a point).

This is perfectly true of course but I believe for me there would be no point going back and grinding out thousands more hours to achieve that. I believe I would let it go even though 2007 was quite fun!

I'd play casually, not trying to max or anything. Kinda what I'm doing now actually :)
