by: Four

Boosts/Helpful Items

Wisdom Aura - Gives a 2.5% bonus xp for 30 minutes every day.

Once used, the scroll will disappear, giving the player the following permanent effects:
A 1 in 8 (12.5%) chance that the player will make a potion twice as fast as usual.
A 1 in 10 (10%) chance that when adding an ingredient to a vial of water, coconut milk, or unfinished potion, it will not be used up, leaving the player with an extra ingredient. (C: Wiki)

Nice guide you should add parts about buying and cleaning herb instead for those that don't care about how long it takes aslong as the make instead of lose gp's. I myself got from 3 to 78 herb while making proffit I guess a total of around 18m could of been more but the way prices of herbs drop and raise makes it pretty risky my advice is to only buy so many at a time to reduce loss if herb drops below your profit margin also finding a good herb can be abit tricky but well worth it if you have the time to spare.

Nice guide, if you have the festive aura, you gain 2x xp for 30 minutes with a recharge of 24 hours after time has ran out..

The festive aura doesn't give 2x Xp anymore, that was only for December. Now it's just cosmetic

I'd say nice guide, but… using a bot, I made 450k attack potions to get 99 herbalore. It costed me nothing. Infact I made 20m rsgp getting from 76-99 herbalore.

Totally worth doing over spending 200m getting to 99.
I guess those who want to legit might do this, but 200m is a lot of money to me.

It was only for December. You must be getting 2x by a different way.
If you're training hunter, it might be the extra 200k exp you were given during the winter event? Or some recent event.

I did the same thing, but that was when herb was cheaper/profit back when buddy was still around.
Silent requested cheap and fast, so this was really all I could do
450k+ pots would take awhile too :P

I might be doing incorrect calculations but unless you collect the herbs yourself, you still lose no matter which potion you make. I believe the most cost effective way ATM is harralander tar at roughly 3gp/xp. Definitely not the fastest but you do make them pretty fast.

Good guide
Another cheaper, but slower way (bot it?) for people who did the quest Shades of Morton is to make Serums 207.
It costs around 8 coins per xp so level 15-99 would cost around 105m. That price is without using the scroll of cleansing/wisdom aura too!

Yeah right now its NOT a good idea to make attack potions.
BUT prices fluctuate. I grabbed my chance when guam herbs were low and got 99.
Always watch prices. Can save ya 200m.

Making harralander tar was really profitable before everyone found out about the black salamander thing.

I believe that the primary reason for herb being a bit more expensive is because there are barely much Sorcerers Garden bots which crashed the herb market a year ago or so.

Yeah and sometimes those profits might fail because noone wants to buy them.. Hint: always buy grimy herbs by small amounts and then sell and once all sold, buy the same amount. That way, you don't lose a lot in case they crash or have to sell under G.E. -5%.

Herbs are apparently going back up again, was checked the top increasing items yesterday and most of the top were med/low level herbs.

Maybe the update with dual wielding encouraged players to make pots/get their herb up, etc. Or that 20k+ farming accounts that got banned could've been the cause for a increase/bigger increase coming up soon. D Bones went up like 700 gp since that ban

I have a possible suggestion for an update for ridiculously cheap (or even profitable) herblore experience. Defence potions at the moment only cost about 0.5gp/xp. If you separate each into Defence (1), then they actually high alch for an overall profit of about 700/potion (about 15 gold earned per herblore experience).

However, that's fairly slow as a defence pot is only worth 45xp each.

Edit: The High Alch comment is dependent on a (1) alching for the same as what a (3) does. I'll check when I get home.

The defence pot (3) alchs for 528 gp, and the defence (1) alchs for 264 gp.

EDIT: You're right though, you actually still make profit by making the 1 dose potions, but the downside is you can only buy 100 bear furs every 4 hours.

Was looking into the defence potion thing before I got banned permanently.

Current prices as of right now.

Guessing the only reason this happened was because they were made f2p when the whole 5/99 member skill limit thing came out on f2p worlds.

try making defence potion, you make money and 80k per hour You will need to buy a lot of fur from player forum since the ge trade limit is 100, but i got 60k of furs and Im leveling to 90 with a 30m profit. Or 0 loss if buyin expensive ingredients instead of doing unf.

Def pots are approx 100k/h with scroll of cleansing. With the 100 buy limit you need to bot the furs to make it feasible.

That's soo slow though and relies on the herb market buying/selling. I never went that way cause it fluctuates too much. Profit from doing defense potions til 90 will pay for like 1/3-1/4 of doing overloads til 99. You'll probably want some for end game/slayer anyways.

Plus who doesn't like going from 90-99 in 18 hours or less? :P

IMO, the cheapest way of leveling herblore is by using serum 207. The ingredients are really cheap, and they give around 50xp each. 20-99 herblore would cost about 125m, although cheaper it is much slower than this method. It can be even cheaper if you just set up a bot that collect the ashes. Assuming you collect them all yourself, 20-99 would only cost around 15m. This would take around 3 months maximum if you bot like 24/7 to collect the ashes (I think).

Jake

2014-01-29 20:11:22

I know about the serum method, and thats exactly my point. 3 months to get 99 herblore is a long time.
I'd rather have it in less than a few weeks with this method, it seems more efficient, and I can move onto a different skill pretty quickly.
