What gets you a Macro (major) vs Macro (minor)?

I see some people get a Macro (major) and some Macro (minor).
I used a Ghost Mouse, long long time ago, carlessly cause I had no idea how easily detectable they were and got a Macro (major) ban. It was only that one time I used it and the next day (obviously) I recieved the ban.
What constitudes a Major and what a minor?
Is minor a 3 day - 2week ban and temporary or can you be banned perm while recieving a minor? Im confused.
Why do some people get perm ban, while others don't and get temp + roll back of skill?

Depends on what type of mood the mod is in. Only thing I can come up with.

^ Exactly
length of botting, what you gained, etc, etc

I think the major is for those goldfarmers while the minor is for regular botters..
Idk tbh I have a friend who has been banned 4 times now for macroing.. hes not 1 strike left

Like I said, I botted ONCE on an account. The action was alching. Gained maybe 1 level, I think from 75-76 and the next day perm banned with failed appeal. Was a "major"
I guess the "what mood they are in" really plays a huge part. Kinda lame, but oh well. Hoped someone actually knew a bit more.

Theres probably some formula based on stuff like, how likely you are to keep paying, impact you'd have on the game, nobody knows but the mods handing out bans

Around 5 years ago I received a minor for botting in the stronghold of security (got stuck between 2 doors for about 5 hours). I got 2 x macroing majors (perm bans), one for guild mining (probably mined about 5k coal) and the other for making gatestones in Daemonheim (was level 85 mage or so).

I'd imagine they give minor to members and major to f2p botters. High total level will also less likely get a major ban I think.

High level botters that are nearing comp or max are targeted at the moment.
I also feel that macro major are targeted are methods that allow mass gold farming with high levels -dung, frosties etc

^exactly.
I thought if one was high leveled then they might be given minor, like a slap on the wrist, but yeah many have been perm banned as of late as an example I suppose.
Maybe its like russian roulette. Randomly given major or minor. Maybe this would be very much abused if we found out how they were given these bans.

Wish there was a definitive guideline. However, that would just open the door to us botting with minors and programming to avoid majors ;).
Punishment was higher back in the days. Got a major macroing for using a yew chopper 5 hours. And 14 days on my main for using Tasker.
Never been caught since then (2008)

My question is, as I have noticed on some java bots ban messages it states they have been using illegal software, would that appear on a simba user's message if we were ever banned? As far as I know, Simba is legal, but I am not a legal expert. Can anyone explain it to me?

Dunno if anyone can really answer that other than Jmods.

Its all about the person who hands out the ban. My last ban was for woodcutting in a resource dungeon for 8 hrs and it was a permanent ban with no chance to appeal.

simba is a legal program but the things it can do break the terms of service, but if jagex did say you where using illegal software then this would be a false statement.

Yep, rsbot and it was a while ago, like 1-2 years. But I dont think the policy has changed, given the nature of more recent bans that I have heard of.

Yeah but most of those, if not almost all, are powerbot ones. There has been a 1 reported ban due to simba use and that was only because the person was purposly botting 24/7 with a poorly coded script.

There was a time people made scar(simba) scripts to get banned for fun or to test jagex's system. Was a script called ban me probably still here if you look.
I remember I got a offensive language for telling a person not to kill themselves.. one of those lumbridge high level skanks. I got a major language..
I also got a language minor for saying assssssss like 5 years ago. On Christmas day. FFS jagex
Macro Minor for using a mouse recorder to fletch
Only to name a few
My account is black mark hell- 1 more offense and my language privileges will be removed :(

I remember that. They'd swear and use other vulgar language thrown towards jagex and such. Ahah it was like if you wanna quit use this script.

If I got banned i would probably quit until they unbanned me. Imagine if they suddenly banned everybody who has ever botted, there would be no one playing and they would have to close RUNESCAPE lmao.

I got banned in 2006 using scar mining guild miner, it was pretty slow and it bugged not finding the ladder very often.
Haven't gotten any bans or anything since.

You know, Jagex obviously knows that people bot, and they know for a fact the botting is what keeps them alive.
If they decided to get rid of all botters… then 7 people would actually play the game.
So, i personally see the Macro Minor ban as a warning that is a bit like a, "Please don't bot anymore because we want the game to be fair, but at the same time, don't leave, because our lives depend on you…"
But i have only had friends and family who have gotten Macro offences. Not me! lol.

They are focusing a lot on the party hat generator and other rare item scripts that's all I can say here. It is still working, but they are starting to crack down on any coding flaws. Not worth the risk I'd say, but my friend made about a hundred of them in just a few days and people are paying him a lot of Runescape armour and gold for this hat.
I got a macroing major on one account and when I logged into my second one it got a minor immediately. When the ban was lifted, I logged back on it and it got not one, but two perm bans.
My main account just got banned for 2 days - Bot Busting ban. I was training to gain XP so that's probably the reason I only got a minor offence. Gold farmers or accounts associated with gold farmers seem to get a permanent ban straight away.
I've been botting so many stats and been at minotaurs for 500 hours to train combat. Yet I still got a Macroing (moderate) ban. I have botted 95% of my skills :P
