Imagine this happened in the USA, People would be so having a hard time on prices I think, and debate on how prices should be rounded

Lol, there should be a penny gather event to catch them all. <—Pokemon. I guess people might start either saving their pennies or getting rid of them..

Good for them. Pennies suck space and time and money. Glad to see it go.
The rounding will actually be quite simple:
$1.01 -> $1.00
$1.02 -> $1.00
$1.03 -> $1.05
$1.04 -> $1.05
Also note that the price is not rounded if you're paying with a credit card :)

I wish it was like in Europe where tax is included in the labelled price.

They actually stopped making the penny last year when they first announced this. The Canadian Mint has just not run out of pennies to distribute so now they will be collecting them from banks and retailers much like how damaged bills are taken out of circulation and then they will be recycled.

Well there goes my brother's dream of collecting pennies until retirement then taking them to the bank to exchange for real money

Something that should of been done a long time ago IMHO.

Right now this is a pain, because at the place I work at the rounding messes with the cash register balance due to the rounding. I think my employer thinks I'm stealing small amounts every shift.
