MSI Diary

What is MSI?
MSI is a script. Yours and mine and everybody's. MSI is a community script. It is everyone's devotion, skill and time that makes MSI what it is. MSI is as big as you want it to be. MSI is as big as we make it.

What is the point in this thread?
MSI recently went down the toilet. Less devs working on it, confusion as to what needed fixing, what can be fixed and so on. I believe with the latest updates from RS we can make MSI better and quicker.
Thats why in this thread I will use throwaway accounts to test the scripts, run them as long as I can etc etc.

What are you going to do?
As of yet I am just recording my findings, however if I feel I can do something to help out more (Such as the scripting) then I will go for it ^^

Varrock East Miner:
30/Jan/2013:
Found that the bots movement patterns were very weird, I found that it got stuck on the way out, clicking behind the bank and moving up towards the wilderness. It also got stuck at the lumber mill trying to get past the fence

This is the whole log up until it got to the sawmill and I stopped it.

Here is the log:

Draynor Willow Chopper:
30/Jan/2013:

Bad Things:
I've seen this in the Powerchopper:

[00:01:51]: Welcome to Runescape.
[00:01:52]: USERNAMEHERE
[00:02:01]: Screenshot of: IP Log 2 Minutes and 1 Seconds
[00:02:01]: ** Warning in SelectWorld: Invalid World **

PowerChopper:
29/Jan/2013:
Ran it for the first time today, it seemed pretty okay just south of the Grand Exchange, I will post some pictures later.

Good things:
  • It ran fairly well
Bad Things:
  • The mouse movement was jumpy
  • It was detecting trees and hovering over the leaves rather than tree trunk
  • It would often go off course and keep running in one direction (Maybe make it capture an area on the minimap on login to run back to)

Sure ^^ If you wanna take one of the sections and help write all the broken parts and what not. Hopefully we can then focus on what's wrong what needs fixing etc.

I would talk with @Coh3n; and see what he wants you to do. That's the first step.

These aren't so much fixes yet. Just a diary of what exactly does work and what doesn't as far as I've seen some people can get it to work and some can't.

But MSI has plans, not just to fix it, but to change a lot of things. I'd still talk to Coh3n.

Indeed and it will take advantage of alot of lape functions..

This is actually awesome!

By the time the downsizing is done, there will only be a few (at most) locations for each of the supported skills. When you test, the actual location doesn't matter because every location uses the same functions, but look more about how the woodcutting works (like you have already posted) for example. Any information is helpful - redundancies in tab changes, abnormalities in mouse movements, sketchy walking (the new MSI will likely use SPS's default walking), etc.

If you notice something odd, look at the debug text as well. You may find it to be helpful. Also, the initial plan for downsizing MSI can be found at http://coh3n.com/srl/msi_downsize_planning.pdf. I hope you guys will like what's planned. Also, since myself and the other developers don't play RS anymore, some input on the locations we plan to keep would be nice. If you have any questions about the plans, don't hesitate to ask. :)

Cheers,
Coh3n

E: Also keep in mind that, although your testing will be helpful, the actual re-release of MSI won't be for quite some time. Like I said in the announcement thread, it's going to be converted to SRL-6, which means SRL-6 needs to be in a testable state.

To be quite honest, that should go in a different post. This is a record of my diary in MSI

Ooh. I thought this was a MSI-D development thread. Turns out it's a testing thread. My bad.
