Not to be needlessly harsh, but since when has Jagex cared about public opinion?

Worth a try though. Takes like 1 minute to sign the petition, might as well give it a shot.

Runescape back in 2006 was oh so tedious compared to now. The only reason people want Runescape like it was in 2006 is because they were ~10/11 and loved the feeling of the pixels on their virtual accounts. It was driven by nostalgia.
If I seemed harsh there, I didn't mean to be. :) Just my opinion.

My two cents:
The EoC has killed my favorite PvP combat minigames; Castle Wars & Soul Wars. As a result I don't play either now, simply because I'm not use to abilities and especially the new PvP system.
On the other hand, EoC has made PvM easy & fun, not to mention immense advantages for almost all skills in Runescape.
So even though my enjoyment of my beloved Castle Wars (and Soul Wars, to a point) has come to a halt, IMO the benefits of EoC far outweigh the drawbacks. I didn't watch the Youtube video but I don't have to, I can simply adjust to the EoC, no problem here.
I'd rather see their efforts be put into eradicating gold-farmers, but I'm not holding my breath.

A huge part of me wants the 2006 Runescape back for good, but a game must grow, and thats what they did. Cant hate them for it, and I know this is not what we are trying to do… But even a small server with 10 worlds would be amazing… Just to go back and re-live the old Runescape. They have Classic, why not a 2006Classic too? I would enjoy it, and so would alot of other people. As long as it is not abused. :)
Signed.

Signing this! If this happens, at least I won't be afraid about Jagex taking down private servers I play on

If everyone one signed this damn petition do you honestly think they would change it back?
Simple answer, no.
As much as they say they "listen", if they actually listened, they wouldn't have made any changes in the first place.
EDIT: still signed it

EoC made the game more individualized than social imho. Many mini-games are dying or extinct and even a lot of bosses can be solo'd.
That is my main concern with Jagex. And also how they still haven't fixed the stats for everything yet they continue to pump things like drygore equipement into the already messed-up economy. And gambling needs to go.

To be honest, this has been done before and look where we are now.. Still only running EoC servers. I think Jagex will just throw this out the window like the have done in the past.
meh… Dont get your hopes up :/

What are the chances Jagex even still have the majority of the code for older versions of the game?
I find it unlikely they would keep it, and almost all the old developers have left, so it would be hard for them to go back,
I bet the only stuff they still have is legal things to combat private servers with copyright
People say all Jagex care about is money, and it looks like it alot, but if they actually refuse to do this when they would double-tripple their current take-in then what the hell do they actually want anymore? I guess the true goal of Jagex these days is a closely guarded secret
