QBD Bots Banned

Jake

2013-01-23 15:42:37

All I can say is good game, a method that was making 3-5m/hour, was eventually going to be found out and tackled with bot watch.

Result of Ban:
Wealth rollback
2 week or Permanent Ban

Have you visited the location recently?
Is there a noticeably less amount of players/botters there yet?

Thanks for info.

Jake

Yes sir, place is literally empty

I was checking out the Thread on the PB Forums, apparently all, if not most users of that script got hit around an hour ago, where the runs of the script went down by about one to two thousand at a period of 5 minutes

Rumors going around that 'Legit players' at qbd got banned, i doubt that. Most likely those high level mains who though it would be smart to bot qbd on their account, and claiming that they were 'legitting' it

Well thats some good news. That means more gold is gone..

Guess the time came.
That's pretty amazing that they responded to that quickly.
Now maybe they will tackle the green dragon?

What I fail to understand is that clearly Jagex can detect the injection bots… why are they "nickel and dime" them rather than taking them down?

I don't there they can 'detect injection bots' as in just by using one they can detect you.
They seem to be just going after the most abused/farmed places one by one LRC, Dung, and now QBD.
I think they are using their new Bot Detection system and their common sense (it's really not that hard to spot/detect/ban the abusive botters) and lowly but surely clearing out the most populated/abused palaces so legits can have fun and enjoy themselves again.

It would be pretty bad if they made a mistake and banned a legit player too, so they are taking their time and doing it right. I say good for them it's rare you actually see Jagex take a bigish step at all and do anything about botters, I like it ;).

Lol i wonder why they haven't done this before for every location in the game..

Justin

2013-01-23 16:44:06

Just FYI: QBD is an instance boss, meaning that you are unable to see other players who are killing QBD, so it might look empty but there are really 60 people killing the boss.
I am glad they are banned :D

Because BotWatch is probably just a few Jagex employees watching set locations

Im very pro-botting for most of the game, but bossing and pvp are the 2 exceptions where I really cant stand bots! I mean c'mon, its the only part of the game thats actually worth playing yourself. Good to see at least this boss cleared :)

Proof that Jagex can very easily ban all bots, but just choose not to :/ Bit of a shame they left all those red-headed bots outside the portal.

I think the QBD bot is a very big problem compare to frost dragon or lrc.
Because the requirement to fight QBD is very easy to achieve. All you have to do is solving a very short quest,
botting combat for summonning and combat exp, and running some agility course.
And the profit per hour is incredibly nice.
Why not they make QBD a boss that need some slayer level for dealing damage to it?

From what I gathered so far, it seems like botwatch works by nailing down a particular behaviour of a script. For this part of the work, some human input has to be made. If it wasn't the case, I believe we wouldn't wait so long inbetween each wave of bans. Once that is done, the botwatch can be activated for a small location. The processing power of botwatch must be huge so its effects must be limited in time and space. I don't think jagex will ever be able to monitor ALL areas in ALL worlds at ALL time. It's a lot more of a public relation tool than a particularly effective tool to combat botting. To be frank, I think they're doing a good job. As a legit player, I'd feel like something is being done to improve the situation.

if bots can bot bosses.. then this game needs fixing..

Lets take a moment and talk about that QBD script. It was in beta. It was a terrible script to have running. That is why people got banned so fast.

Richard

2013-01-24 09:14:04

Recognising a set series of attacks and responding to them isn't overly surprising. I just never thought botting communities would ever become this lazy or greedy. Bosses are fun!

The botting problem is one with the RS community, not Jagex. It's very much copycat criminality.

Lets talk some more, the script writer, is very arrogant, thinking she is so great because she wants us to believe that
1. She is a girl
2. She is better than the other script writers
3. Her methods are flawless and undetectable
4. Always hypes up the community of leechers/VIP about a script release

And now when users got banned, she is literally scrambling, and looking for answers to say to the users of the script.
What did she answer with?
"I will completely rewrite the script, I ran it over night, and didnt get banned! I will release it again in the following 2-3 days"

Now how silly is that? You have to be out of your mind to create a script that would kill a boss like the QBD, and make the script so obvious that anyone can tell who is botting and who isn't.

Especially releasing it to users who are paying a monthly price for a script like that, where more than 90% of the people who user her script have never
1. Tried legitting the QBD
2. Have no idea which gear to use/have problems with reading previous posts

Especially when botwatch is being stepped up, and she still thinks her script can bypass the bans, she is stupid, and so are those users who kiss up to her and literally drool over her posts.

You know what I love about SRL? When WT-Fakawi first started it, he talked about about we respected Jagex and never wanted to ruin the game, we just subtly blended in, and it caused absolutely no harm to the game. It's what makes us an awesome community. Admittedly now I don't bot any more, partly because I didn't want to be associated with this new generation of script kiddies, who so desperately want high levels or money (IRL or in game), and partly because I've gained respect for my purely legitimate levels.

But still, as you can tell from my activity here, I still love SRL, and you're all awesome people :)

Well RuneScape is a game. Games are supposed to be fun. So why do people bot it?

But seriously, it's for money. OP said around 3-5mil per hour. You don't think goldfarmers will take advantage of that?

Anyways, I wonder how long before group KK bot.

In regards to how long. Well it could be sooner than you think. A scripter was able to produce a corp bot, and a clan of botters ran it 24/7.

These goldfarmers NEED to get a job. Even at 5m per hour @ 50 cents / 1m gp… That is $2.50 an hour…

On multiple accounts, that would've racked up a nice profit per hour. But even if they were only getting a dollar an hour on 5 accounts, playing 24/7 that would be like $840 extra a week for doing nothing. I'd take that any time.

Haha, that mod.
I wouldn't exactly be giving out that many refunds myself. Tbh it was a good bot before the jagex came a long. I'd say people got their money worth if it was often 2.5m /hr reaching 5-6m at points.

edit: not to mention that timer and paris handle all the script sales and take commision.

Claims her script is versatile and undetectable yet you're required to start in an exact location. She thinks botting is over simply because she lacks efficient scripting abilities. People like her just really bother me.

hmm… I've never done QBD but specific visual actions do occur before every attack, correct? So wouldn't this be possible to accomplish via SRL?

It wouldn't even be for the money so much as the "Haha, we can do it and you can't!"
