Setting up Cherokee for Scar

Yakman

2007-05-04 07:46:50

Introduction
Cherokee is a little java application which can make fake mouse, keyboard and focus event.
There is also a little package which lets Java and Scar communicate with InterScarMessages.
So we can use it to create a sort of silent mouse with Scar.
However, Scar still has to have the client visible, so you could only have multiple clients if you have a big screen and loads of RAM, a useful thing with Scar is the "Client -> Always On Top" option. It could be good for autoing while doing other things, I like to think of this as behaving a little like a VM.
Note: For this guide, you have to Read as well as look at the pictures.

If you know just a little bit of java, it will help, but its not essencial. I dont actually use this myself because when I auto, its always at night so I just use the regular mouse, but I have autoed for about 30 minuites once.

Note: This isnt really that much of a gain, and its very hard to get to work, so dont really worry if you cant get it to work.

1. Unless you already have it, setup the JDK, this is a good tutorial http://www.moparisthebest.com/smf/index.php/topic,70709.0.html, if some doesnt work, use google, I'm sure any problem will be on there

2. Cherokee is hosted on Sourceforge.net, on its SvN repository, unless you already have it, download and install TortoiseSvn, this is a client which lets you interact with SvN repostories. TortoiseSvn places itself into Windows Explorer.
3. Make a new folder somewhere, called "Cherokee", right click it, and press "SvN Checkout", for the URL, put https://cherokee.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/cherokee

Cherokee will be downloaded onto the folder.

Pressing "SvN Update" will update your folder to the most recent repository.
you should update your repository often to check for any changes

3. Now download the Java <-> Scar package from here you could press
java_sharedmem_scar.zip
"test.bat" and "test.scar" to see it working.
Place MemMapLib.DLL in the cherokee root folder (the same place which has "run-Chereokee-RS2.bat" and "Compile-Cherokee.bat")
and everything else in the Cherokee\Scripts folder

note: If the attachment links dont work, press the ones on the bottom of this post

4. Now you have cherokee, and a way to communicate with Scar, you need the actual library which puts this link to use. scar_cherokee_gateway.zip
Place it into the Scripts folder as well.
I highly recommend you read through the Scar script files, just to see how they work.

5. Now you have everything, you need to start it
when cherokee starts

to start a script, press "Scripts" on the menu bar, then press "Run"
you will get a popup box, to start the scar gateway, type "/scarListen([ISM id here])" put the id you will use the communicate with cherokee between the ( ), in this case, im using 'scarjava'

6. you could use the script "TestCG.scar" to see it working
the rest is up to you, you all know Scar, go to your SRL folder and replace some things with Cherokee procedures,

Troubleshooting
This is a useful Svn tutorial if you're having problems
To switch worlds, go to Cherokee\Conf\rs2.conf, open it with notepad and change the world id and the prefix

Edit: Actually you dont have to do that, I'v written a little GUI that does it for you

Good luck people.

Note: If I see questions that have already been answered, I will delete them, use "Search"

RS client in Cherokee always lags me when I'm trying to run with script.
After I choose "Script -> Run -> scarListen(1)" the client really lags.

EDIT: I tested moving mouse with "run-Cherokee-RS2.bat" and with "run-Cherokee-testapplet.bat", testapplet doesnt lag at all it works. But RS2 client… that really lags for me.

So it only lags after you run the script? Try not using a number in scarListen(), it shouldn't have any effect, but try something like "adsfadsf" without the quotes. (make sure you change it in the script too.

It is a silent mouse, so that you can auto on one part of your screen and use your mouse and keyboard on the other side, or potentially auto multiple characters at once.

What version of java did you compile with? and what version are you running with? Also post some computer specs, like how much RAM you have and what type and speed of processor, and version of OS.

Wow this looks great!

Yakman

2007-05-05 05:48:25

a possible cause of the lag could be this part…
in the file called SCARInterface.java

}
}
Thread.sleep(100); // Erm
}
catch(Exception e)
{

the part which says 'Thread.sleep(100)' is like scar calling 'Wait(100)'
it could be that its in a loop so it slows it down, if you made it wait 200 or something, it might help
change it to what you want, then press 'Compile Scripts.bat'
also ill write about what cherokee does in the introduction, i forgot about that..

shaunthasheep

I have everything set up and running, but don't understand how to run a script without it taking over the mouse? I know I cant just run regular SCAR because that takes over the mouse.

And also in my cherokee folder, the folder "conf" has a red exclamation mark instead of a green checkmark. When I click on the folder, "rs2.conf" has a red exclamation mark. Why is it like that?

You must not have read the whole little tutorial it explains how to run a script with it ;)

Also it has a red exclamation mark because it is different from the one on the server.

And do I need to do anything about the red exclamation mark?

Worked fine the first time…the next time, I got this…. (pm me if you want the 'hs_err_pid1188.log' file)

Would it be possible to add a CherokeeHoldArrow + CherokeeReleaseArrow?

It's kinda hard to recreate HighestAngle without them…

Yakman

2007-05-06 14:44:15

there already is are two procedure for pressing arrow keys, in the file CherokeeGateway.scar

the way they work is, calling the arrow press repeatedly looks like you're holding the arrow, so this is a rough idea for how the HighestAngle would work

procedure HighestAngle;
var Start: Integer;
begin
MarkTime(Start);
repeat
CherokeeArrowHold(0);
wait(5);
until(TimeFromMark(Start) > 5000);
CherokeeArrowRelease(0);

that big error log file is when the whole java stopped, it sort of goes higher than me, i dont really know what it means

a red exclamation mark next to a file means you've changed it, this is nothing bad, like if you switched worlds, then the conf file would be changed, so i think thats why.
if you want the first file back, delete your changed file and press 'SvN Update'

Mjordan

2007-05-06 14:45:13

Ok thats why the red mark is by mine, I switched worlds. Thanks Yakman.

Ok I got it working now. Lol I forgot to download something before. And I understand it a little more now. What I don't understand now is to run say your goblin schedular, Fakawi, we don't have to write it in java do we? We just call /scarListen(What?). Lol i'm really confused…

At some point wouldn't that stop this from working properly? Like if I put a 500 or something there?

Edit: I went all the way up to 2000 I still lag…

Also I'm wondering, will we be able to code scripts in Java at some point and run them with Cherokee?(Or can we do it now we just have to know something about java?)

well Mjordan, you go to your SRL, and in the MMouse procedure, make it called the cherokee procedure, same with Mouse, TypeSend, and all other similar procedures

/scarListen([id]) put an ID between the ( ), thats the same id you use in SendInterScarMessage

2007-05-06 15:44:49

hey guys, iv worked out what was causing the lag, so bare with me while i tell you all about it

I'd also like to take this opportunity to tell you to press 'SvN Update' every so often, to check if anything has been added to cherokee.

there is a method in every script which is called repeatedly, but in the ScarGateway script, i just left it blank, because i didnt need it, so it was the same as doing this

repeat
until(AHumanHasStoppedTheScript);
thats what caused the lag,
to solve the lag, we have to put a wait in there

what you have to do is this, go to the file called ScarGateway.java
replace

public void mainLoop() { }

with this

public void mainLoop() {
Thread.yield();
}
Thread.yield doesnt actually wait, it briefly pauses the Thread and allows others to work some more, kind of recycling a little (i hope iv got that part right)

or if you cant do it, you can download 'scar_cherokee_gateway.zip' again

well, you see, there was a compromise, you can all have cherokee and stuff, but you have to change SRL yourself,
so if I see any modified SRLs I guess ill delete them,

but it should be alright, you're all SRL members, and so you should know enough to do this yourself. *shifty eyes*

another way we could stop this, is just not update it when runescape updates, thats also why we wont write an auto-updator.

thats alright, if BenMouse goes wrong, we have MutantRsN mouse to move it instead
the java Benmouse seems to give more exceptions than the Scar one,

its probably a good thing, since its a mixture of a spline path to a straight line path

and Bam Bam, I guess they would be MMouse, Mouse, TypeSend, HighestAngle, MakeCompass and probably some antibans like IdleTime and SleepAndMoveMouse (which you have to use Mouse Exit events) and LeaveScreen (which you have to use LoseFocus)
if you want them all, search for things like MoveMouse, KeyDown, SendKeys in the includes

Much, much less lag than a VM.

Also I am working on a huge update for Cherokee that will make this even better. :)

Yakman

2007-05-07 12:37:55

iv found that the procedure ActivateClient; sometimes causes that java error file, so remove them, especially in LoginPlayer;
to update it, you have to find the name of the canvas which the client has all its listeners added to, its always the same sort of thing, and its always a static field, then you write the name of the class and the name of the field in the rs2.conf file,
or you could wait for me to do it, so press 'Svn update'

also, remember that since it doesnt move the normal mouse, your computer might go into a screensaver, which stops scar seeing anything, so if you're autoing all night, turn your screensaver off

Yakman

2007-05-09 02:41:08

well its not Really detectable, you can still run stuff on it without it getting banned, but its not totally undectable ether,
i think Swiftswitch and stuff do a similar thing, and theres no rule against world switchers, so if they can find out we use cherokee instead of firefox, it shouldnt really bother them

no you cannot, because Scar still needs to find its colors and bitmaps and stuff, so the screen needs to be visilble, but it doesnt use your mouse or keyboard focus,

Actually, it is possible with SCAR.
First you need to get a bitmap of the client while it is offscreen, then you can use SetTargetBitmap to let SCAR use the bitmap instead of the actual client canvas.
As you only send an integer with the place in the memory, you can use some kind of program that automatically updates the bitmap in SCARs memory, so SCAR will automatically use the actual bitmap of the client.

Can you please just make it more clean in tut to put in the
Cherokee\Scripts\ Folder?
I put in scar>Script folder and the SRL>SRL>Scripts Folder

I don't think that would work too well… And It would probably cause a ton of lag, but its a good idea.

Yep many mem copies to make that work. To decrease mem copies it takes alot of unsafe code and testing.

Cruel Client + UBI was the first to do it 10 months good to see people figuring it out. I think it did 2 direct mem copies and a hard drive copy to make it work.

Freddy has the information needed to make the solution he just hasn't yet.

I think this should be a general release to the masses. Right now Nexus has you beat on this. I think that all of the methods in srl should be modified, and realsed to both membs/non membs. It doesn't really give them much more power, just a little bit of conviniance. Let me know what you think. It's just about the same as having scar 3.0 released to non membs.

Markus

2007-06-11 14:31:16

That will open the way to mass autoing something we don't want.
And who cares about nexus beating us?

I completely agree that mass autoing is something we don't want to let happen. However, just allowing them to move their own mouse at the same time isn't a big deal. As long as they have unprofitable scripts, it won't make a difference, and perhaps just give a few more new members more of a drive to script. I think scar needs to raise up a level to this.

Markus

2007-06-11 16:29:45

Imagine putting your screen on a big resolution and then using cherokee so you can use six varrock east/ess miners at the same time. That IS mass autoing. Don't forget that there are profitable scripts in non-members section. In fact, I made much money from Wizzups essminer (and I learned much of it, great script :) ).

Hmm, thats right, wizzup's generosity does ruin my point :).
I talked about this to my fiencee, she thinks that the ability to use your computer at the same time as autoing makes a huge difference. And that it is a good restriction for Scar to take up the actual mouse movements.
I'm going to have to change my position on this, even though the odds of some one having a super big screen are low, this should still be kept locked down.

[and now that I think about it, attaching a separate monitor ore two isn't even hard…]

heh, i am very familiar with that error. It's not to hard to fix if it is fixable. But, i can't even begin to help you untill you tell me more about how you got it.
The error means exactly what it says, the java enviroment was unable to find the definition [probably the .class file] for one of the classes that it uses. It sounds like you are missing something.

You don't need a big screen, only a high resolution so everything looks small.
Anyone can confirm the client can be on another screen? I tricked my computer in that I have multiple monitors :p

Yes, the problem is when you are compiling the scripts. Compiling cherokee worked how it is supposed to. Compiling scripts should just say "done". The rest of your errors are just steming from not having compiled the scripts it needs. Compiling is what creats the .class files, hince why they can be found. The remedy? I'll look more into your errors while you go and do a subversion check out again.

yeah, it seem like you dont have script.java, just go and re check it out.

woah, sorry I didnt see this for a while
that NoClassDefFoundError means you havent downloaded everything

That error when compiling is my fault, the script system was changed, so the downloaded needed to be changed as well, but I didn't get round to it, so sorry about that, I'll do it as soon as I can.

the main reason I made this is so I can auto while doing other things, I dont think it will cause mass autoing because it takes up too much RAM to run well more than 2 or 3.

well people have stopped using this, and I really don't mind, I think whats scared you away is that you need to change SRL yourself.

Right now Nexus has you beat on this.

To be honist, I don't care, I'm not going to compete with them, if it means that much to you, then *you've wont, congratulations*

I'm patching my SRL right now, and I ran into a few problems with bank.scar, there isnt a cherokee replacement for holdmouse and releasemouse.
You know a way how to fix this?

mastaraymond

A suggestion. You should make a world changer in the window. Now i need to copy my Cherokee folders to run it on different worlds^^.

Markus

2007-06-23 09:14:09

You can use Yakman's world change tool :)
And I found a way to use this while the applet is offscreen. I attached another VGA cable to my graphics card so it thinks I have multiple monitors.
I dragged cherokee to the virtual monitor and it worked :)

When i want to load 2 Cherokee's i need to change the worlds after i loaded the first one. That sucks ^^

Smartzkid

2007-06-23 14:14:57

That's a RS limitation, not cherokee

If you made your own client for cherokee to load, it'd work fine (of course, you'd probably get banned pretty quickly :p)

Markus

2007-06-23 15:08:22

If I'm right SRL deletes the UID every time you load the client.
Maybe it's possible to let cherokee use the signed applet, so the auto uid deleter works and you can run multiple cherokees at once.
