Im going to dump some of my runescape history into this thread. If anyone wants to really get to know me, please hit me up with a pm. I don't feel comfortable giving out details in a non-secured part of a forum.
I originally started playing runescape back in 2003. I loved classic and was a contributor in the "item dupe" glitch.
I played from January 03 till the trade limit fiasco hit. It pissed me off enough to quit until free trade came back. I took another break because life happens, and now im back again.
Some time around march of 2003 I got tired of fighting for resources in mining, thats when I found autorune. I must have gained 10 mining levels in 1 day! I was so excited! Then the first of many "massive bans" happened. A grand total of about 50 players were banned, including me!
I wouldnt let a small thing like losing a full set of phats and multiple santa hats stop me (total value ~30m at the time). I toyed around with multiple other botting tools and was never really happy. Everything paled in comparison to autorune. A small miracle happened in September of 2003 AutoRune was back, and better than ever! I started wondering how AutoRune was made and what I could do to help with it.
I had just gained the confidence of Kaitnieks and he directed me to tons of online "how to program" tutorials. I was in love. I spent 2 months learning how to program, and came up with my first functionality that could be included in AutoRune. It was a clever little piece of code that would let you add X quantity of an item to a trade.
Kaitnieks and a few of the other guys in the group gave me a nice pat on the back and after a quick code review it was golden. K included my code in the November 5th update. Almost 5,000 people downloaded the client with my code in it in 2 days.
Some time near midnight November 6th-7th a player found a hole… by putting an item in the trade screen using Autorune and setting the quantity to 0 something amazing would happen. Autorune would tell runescape to trade 0 party hats to another player, runescape would autocorrect the 0 to a 1 AFTER it was on the server, thus the item was never removed from your inventory but it was traded to another player.
November 9th I lost my 2nd account.
Not giving up, I sent an email to Jagex from my original account saying im sorry, I will never bot again, etc. The wiped my mining level and my cash but left me 1 santa hat because the mod felt I had truely learned my lesson. I have never botted on this account again and probably never will. Just got my 10 year cape and I still have no 99s.
Runescape 2 came out and I kept playing for a few years and started tinkering with SCAR, but I had lost some of my motivation. I kept studying programming and eventually joined the military. I have played on and off since then dabbling in different bots.
With 2 kids and a wife, I find my self needing a break and developing scripts is relaxing to me. Since I have a few years of advanced Python and C/C++ driver development under my belt, I know I can make an impact on this community.
My head hurst and I need a smoke, If anyone has any questions or suggestions please post.
