Simba for OSX

Link: http://arkeo.chrishobbs.ca/files/Simba.zip

I've made a wrapper for simba to run as a native app on OSX.
Note that this is not a native app but merely runs like one so that everything is bundled together and you won't have to deal with wine installs and configurations.
Pretty much everything will work the same as if you were running it on windows.
The only the DTM Editor and Color Pickers require an extra step (see below)

Super Simple Setup
Step 1 - Download the zip file
Step 2 - Extract the zip file
Step 3 - Move Simba.app into your Applications folder

See I told you it was simple!

Feature Status
Working | Buggy/Under Testing | Not working
  • Core Funtions
  • SMART
  • Updater
  • Plugins
  • Color Picker

DTM Editor Steps
When you open up the DTM Editor you will notice the little window where you make your DTMs will be black. To solve this, simple take the Client Selector (Green Crosshairs) and drag that over to the SMART Client. Then on the DTM Editor window, select the "Image" menu and click "Load Image From Client". You will now see the Runescape image in the DTM Editor!

Color Picker Steps
I have included a simple color picking utility with this OSX version as a temporary fix until a better fix comes out in coming Simba builds. In the scripts folder you will find a script called ColorPicker.simba. Run that and every time you press F5 it will print out the color and coords that your mouse is pointing at, just like the color picker! (Shocking!) To kill this script just press F6. Also, since simba is threaded, you can still work in other tabs and even run and test your script while the colorpicker script is also running and it will not interfere! :)

Known Bugs
-Color Picker - (Fix coming in future Simba builds)
-Only Works in SMART not any external environment

Changelog
01/10/2013 - First Release
01/10/2013 - Fixed SMART not loading bug
01/10/2013 - Packaged X11 into app to remove requirement to install it on systems without it
01/11/2013 - Added ColorPicker utility (Temp Fix)

Cheers,
Hobbit

I dont know why but the download is taking ages. :S
It broke at 93% last time. Will try again now but I just get like 100kb/s.

Hobbit

I found an issue with it. SMART will not load (Fixed that part, not uploaded yet) and also the wrapper is isolating it from the screen so it may only work in SMART (Testing)

A simile is a figure of speech that directly compares two different things, usually by employing the words "like" or "as"

:)

Meaning instead of dealing with wine installs and such, its a app bundle and can be run like a native OSX app and easily distributed. So if you double click a simba file it will open in simba and not in TextEdit.

Just an update, I've worked out most of the bugs (see first post for updated info). I'm going to work on it tomorrow and try and shrink the app bundle size as much as possible tomorrow.

2013-01-11 04:07:29

does your bundle include a windows java? I got older OS X and apple does their own dumb java or whatever, I also got a snowleopard version which should work, I'll tested it out but I have to mod the imac for better cooling because it gets too hot (so I won't be using it for botting :P )

also can't find a download link idk if I'm too tired or what

Hobbit

2013-01-11 04:10:00

The app is completely self contained. X11 and Java files are both included inside the app bundle.

Posted link in first post. Ive tested and its all good to go (Aside from things listed in post)
Tested a script for a few hours without issue.

Enjoy!

Also, it is packaged with Java 6 not 7 so you dont have to worry about the recent news :)

Running it right now, seems to be working fairly well. Isn't really a native OSX app though still uses X11/Wine

I am currently trying to select a client with Simba. When i try to it seems that my whole screen goes red and selects the desktop.

Hobbit

2013-01-14 14:47:12

As said in the first post, due to the nature of the wrapper it only works with SMART for the moment. So the only window you can select as the client target is the SMART window as it is inside the wrapper with Simba.

This is great! Everything (except for color picker hehe) working perfectly! Great tribute for enlarging the community.
But in some way it seems that the OSX version needs lots of RAM. It is using more then if I am loading via Wine or a VM Ware.

Right-click on the wrapper, click Show Package Contents. Then double-click on the drive_c alias, then go into the Simba folder.
Replace/add whatever you need (like the fonts and includes) into there and you should be fine.

I personally use the SRL-OSR include on GitHub, but it isn't finished yet and requires one to change scripts that use the 07Include. I suggest you just use the 07Include.

Hey there Hobbit. I'm in the process of trying to test this Simba for OSX. I have everything loaded and such in their respected folders. However, after the compile, that's it. It doesn't end or draw an error. It just doesn't do anything. I'm really striving to get this working.
