SRL Members+ Group Project

For those voting in the poll, please keep in mind that we should start with a project that we can actually finish. I personally think option #2 (Fighter) and option #4 (Mage Training Arena) are the most viable options. Even if they aren't perfect it can still be used. If the Slayer script can't bank properly then there is no point in using it. A Fighter script could also be expanded to a AIO Slayer after gathering colors while using the Auto Fighter at tasks
But as it is a group project, feel free to vote what you would like to work on, but keep this in mind when making your decision!

Hello,

As an extend to my post in the "Things we need to do"-thread:
I think it would be nice to have a SRL Members Group Project to give members a reason to script and to work together as a group.

I've now edited this post to add multiple options. In a few days there will be a poll to vote on the various options to democratically decide on our project.

I would personally rather start off with a smaller project instead of working on a huge project that won't get finished in the end like previous ones. However, with many members we can obviously accomplish loads, but I think we are better off starting with something small. Based on our experiences with that we can continue with something larger, or expand it.

Anyhow:

Option #1:
A clue scroll (easy) solver.
http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Clue_scroll_%28easy%29
http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Treasure_Trails_Guide

For easy clue scrolls there are:
Simple clues: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Trea...e/Simple_clues
Emote clues: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Trea...de/Emote_clues
Maps: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Trea...ils/Guide/Maps
Cryptics: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Trea...Guide/Cryptics

Summed up skills: Mainly relies on bitmaps, dtm's, color detection, position detection, etc.

Option #2
All In One Fighter
http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Combat
Users will fill in a form with their chosen colors OR they can select one of the preset monsters.
Script will need to be able to use Abilities from the Action bar or move abilities on there to use.

Summed up skills: TPA/ATPA for monster fighting, Form, Bitmaps/DTM's for abilities, etc.

Option #3
Slayer Script
http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Slayer
Will need to make paths for each tasks, setups, etc. Prayer support, potion support, banking, equiping armor, killing the monsters, etc.

Summed up skills: Pushing everything to the limit :P Using everything that we can.

This will be a huge project and has been attempted before, but unfinished.
This can also be made less complicated by doing a lower leveled slayer master such as Vannaka

Option #4
Mage Training Arena script
http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Mage_Training_Arena
This minigame is split up in four parts
  • Telekenetic room: ten puzzles to solve using telekentic grab
  • Alchemists playground: five items and multiple patterns to recognize
  • Enchanting chamber: four shapes to detect and dragonstones on the ground
  • Graveyard: pickup bones and convert to bananas/peaches
This script has been made before (SRL Reflection) and the minigame has been around for 7 years now.
Can also be split up nicely I'd say.

Option #?
Feel free to suggest more options!

I'd love to participate with the suggested project via J J; Clue Scroll (easy) solver/script.
Parts I think I could accomplish (upfront);
  • piecing item information together (ex = required items to solve + reward items + others (ex = extra, helpful (ex = teleport tabs) items) if any).

Let me know! This sounds like a ton of fun!
Cheers,
Lj :)

P.S. –> Should we all follow the same format/appearance (given scripting style may be different) - ex using the Parser extenstion -> Format[er]?

I don't think we're scripting for money, just for the fact that we're all coming together and acting as one :p

Yeah, that is the main goal. In this case it is also going to make a small amount of money.

P.S. –> Should we all follow the same format/appearance (given scripting style may be different) - ex using the Parser extenstion -> Format[er]?

That would be a good idea, but from SRL Members you can expect snippets that are easily readable. As long as it uses decent standards it is fine. But that would be good solution aswell.

I'm currently gathering information about all possible clue scroll options.

For easy clue scrolls there are:
Simple clues: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Treasure_Trails/Guide/Simple_clues
Emote clues: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Treasure_Trails/Guide/Emote_clues
Maps: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Treasure_Trails/Guide/Maps
Cryptics: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Treasure_Trails/Guide/Cryptics

For simple clues we will need to be able to properly read the text. Search for the colors within certain bounds. Get the TPA Bounds and use OCR to recognize the text.

Same thing for Cryptics.

For emote clues we will also need to read the text and recognize what armour we will need. Some locations are pretty hard to reach, so we might need to stop the script if one of those locations pops up. Emote clues are rare though.

Finally for maps we need to recognize the map and walk there, I'd say using SPS. Once we are close possibly ObjectDTM or normal DTM's / other ways of detecting that we are actually there.

Summed up:
We will need a lot of Bitmaps/DTM's to recognize equipment and maps.
Might need to edit the font set or make or modify SRL's OCR to properly read all characters from clue scrolls.
And more.. :)

As pm'd to jj:

I am in for a group project. I however don't have a runescape account. I have a great and fast way of managing large/big amounts of DTMs, Bitmaps and various other objects. Also I love working on the frameworks. I am sure I can come in handy somewhere ^^.

Also, will we use git/svn for this project? I think it is a handy and fast way of working together.

Seems cool, we should use git for this project and create a list if things that need to be completed like a list of items that could be required so people can work on creating BMP/DTM's for them

Yes but there could be other options that are more "worth" it. Just my take.

I agree, I personally would like to see an AIO Fighter/Slayer like Perfecticus's ^^

Olly

2013-01-07 15:42:36

^ Exactly something like a aio slayer i think would be much more worth it.. and still the same challenges (if not more :p)

Edit: for slayer some groups will be (im sure there's more)..

form:
- form for inputting gears to wear for each task
- the normal script settings
- skipping tasks etc

combat:
- locating the monsters
- looting
- fighting (all combat types)

walking:
- walking to the task
- banking from the task and returning
- walking to the task master
- some type of web walking system, (if we have a dueling ring use it to get to castle wars then contiune walking etc)
- making sure we're still in the bounds of the monster area for the task

getting a task:
- getting an actual task and skipping if we cant/ don't want to do it

I would be up for a group script. We should make a list of script ideas and then vote on them.

@ Everyone.

I've now edited the first post and added a second and third option. Feel free to suggest more. In a few days (like 2?) we can have our final selection and vote in a poll or something to make our final choice.

I guess it will be a good idea to use GitHub when the final script decision has been made.

EDIT: Added mage training arena as an option. Feel free to suggest more until we add a poll to vote.

Slayer seems to be popular, but I still think it's better to start off smaller.

We could do both though, by working on a Turael Slayer Script first.
Banshees
Bats
Bears
Birds
Cave bugs
Cave crawlers
Cave slimes
Cows
Crawling hands
Desert lizards
Dogs
Dwarves
Ghosts
Gelatious abominations
Goblins
Grotworms
Hill Giants
Icefiends (10-20)
Kalphites
Minotaurs
Monkeys
Scorpions
Skeletons
Spiders
Trolls
Wolfs
Zombies

Less complicated, yet challenging and more managable. If we succeed then we already have a solid base (walking, banking, killing) for the next slayer masters.

I think Vannaka is even more interesting. The monsters are a bit higher level and all pretty easy to reach.

Banshees, Bats, Bears, Catablepon, Cave bugs, Cave crawlers, Cave slimes, Cockatrices, Crawling hands, Desert lizards, Dogs, Earth warriors, Flesh crawlers, Ghouls, Ghosts, Hill giants, Hobgoblins, Ice warriors, Kalphites, Mogres, Pyrefiends, Rock slugs, Shades, Skeletons, Vampires, Wall beasts (10-20), Wolven, Zombies

EDIT: A big plus here is that you can have all items required in one Inventory, without banking (Turael). However, this might have changed with the Evolution of Combat. Can you still melee all those?

I agree that we should start with smaller bit's of a project (looking like slayer will be the majority vote), before expanding to incorporate more features. (I like the starting off with Turael and making that highly stable, before moving onto more master/monsters/equipment/stats/etc.)

OT: I started a slay item db simba include because I got bored lol
Here's a snippet, will leave it like this (there's plenty of cleaning to do.. but I don't think a project has decided) / in this condition. * NOTE : It's basically like bitmaps.simba, except contains more data on items.

Test script;

program SlayerTest;
{$include_once srl/srl.simba}
{$include_once slay/slayProgressItems.simba}

var
a : itemDataArr;
x, y : integer;

begin
SetupSRL;
ClearDebug;

a := getMultiItemData([SLAY_TOOL_ENCHANTED_GEM, SLAY_TOOL_MIRROR_SHIELD]);

writeln(a[SLAY_TOOL_ENCHANTED_GEM].name);
writeln(a[SLAY_TOOL_MIRROR_SHIELD].name);

if FindDTM(a[0].DTM, x, y, MIX1, MIY1, MIX2, MIY2) then
begin
MMouse(x, y, 10, 10);
Writeln('Found item: ' + a[0].name + '!');
end;

slay_FreeDataArr([SLAY_TOOL_ENCHANTED_GEM, SLAY_TOOL_MIRROR_SHIELD]);

end.

Created include slay file (add folder named 'slay' to includes')
Place the folder in simba\includes\slay\slayProgressItems.simba

(* File containing Item Data/Info... *)

Those are already working DTM's Le Jingle? Pretty nice progress already, but slayer hasn't been decided yet. Option #2 is also interesting as it could be expanded to a Slayer script especially if banking, etc. would be added. But we will see in the voting which starts tomorrow or in 2 days or something I think? Might add one more option if anyone has a good suggestion. Think I'll request a poll later today in like 10 hours.

And personally, in my opinion, it is more logical to extend a srl ability to work with any custom client. Now srl too adapted for runescape. If we extend srl, it will use the one and same functions for different applications, respectively, it can be easily used for more tasks. And it automatically raise interest in the project Simba. A script for RS - it will be just another script for RS.

The second part = My opinion (I would struggle trying to accomplish the idea suggested by you - due to lack of experience in programming [aside from pascal script / java]) + how awesome your idea would be, meaning future persons using simba would have more options, potentially serving many more purposes aside from srl scripts and having much more functionality within the client to choose/use. (All these thoughts from me are based off what you had to say - so I hope I interpreted correctly :p )

I do not think it is a good idea to mix this runescape script by extending srl. It will be a lot of work, let's first try to work together on something I know we can achieve, and I am sure it will be used.

CynicRus

2013-01-08 13:34:33

LJ: Most interesting is that this is not very difficult to achieve. Obviously, this will need to change the logic of some of the SRL to work with TMMLClient. Well, some change architecture srl to play depending on the definition of the functions are in a separate module. It might make even one person, but it takes a very long time.

In order to get something as a team, we need two things in my opinion. 1) Work Plan 2) The person who will coordinate the team.

I agree with this, I think it's better to start off with something on a smaller scale that we can achieve.

I think the most viable options are option #2: AutoFighter and option #4: Mage Training Arena. Mostly because it can also work partially and still have a function.

If we make a AIO fighter that works fine killing them but doesn't support banking then it will still be a very nice and possibly popular script.

However, if we make a half finished Slayer script there is no point in using it.

I hope everyone takes this into consideration when voting, when the poll is up.

As a next project we could definately do something non RuneScape related. Something like this would be very interesting: http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=94896 if it gets launched.

Mage Training Arena is also a script. I think those minigames are less good to divide for a group project, but it would be popular.

If anyone that is able to read a poll (mod and higher?) reads this:

Why is it any harder to divide a sw script than a fighter one?
I think more people should do a single part too. More people, more ideas, better result.

Yeah it might be a good idea to assign more than one person to certain parts. Combined results are usually better than single results.

I think it's harder to divide a Soul Wars script because you need to build a pretty complex mainloop, that recognizes where you are on the map. Then checks / reads text on RuneScape and generates a task it wants to do.

Slayer has a complex mainloop aswell but it is easier to be split in per monster. But yeah, you can also split Soul Wars to bone burying (graveyard), waiting until you can leave the starting area, protecting avatar, etc. So it is actually not that bad to divide.

Might be something for a future project as it is heavily requested (but Danny maintains a SW script now).

Perhaps that would be interesting, but after we have a clear view what Project we are going to work on (max 7 days poll, might make decision earlier) and who are going to work on it, when, how, etc.

From: xtrapsp

Okay that's fine :P I only play RuneScape to script, even though I have been spending some hours legitimately lately to quest.. which were needed to make a script :garfield: or actually are needed, still need to complete One Small Favour and Kings Ransom so I unlock piety/rigour/augury to use while gathering charms.

It might be early to say but it looks like it is going to be a All In One Fighter or a Slayer script. The AIO Fighter can be used for Slayer tasks aswell so I guess that wouldn't be too bad for the people that voted for Slayer. If the project works out well we can always expand it.

Going to wait out the poll for a couple more days. But as it will most likely be a combat script we can already say that we need
  • Methods for the Action bar
    • Being able to recognize the abilities on the action bar
    • Being able to know when each ability can be re-used and when they should be used
    • Putting abilities on the action bar if none are on
    • Possible a Form where the user can select the abilities it wants to use and what food it should eat, etc.
  • Eating
  • Potion using
  • Banking (both slay/aio fighter)
  • Calculating experience/h
  • 6h bypass / update bypass (Ashaman?)

For both slay/aio fighter a form would be nice as it looks more "premium". Someone that doesn't play RuneScape or doesn't script for RuneScape (anymore) could still make a form, or graphics for the form, etc.

Universal Banking? If using SPS for parts of it, have a form with a box to enter custom points to get to monster. Lodestone to nearest bank. Walk back using that path? I 'unno. Saw something like it somewhere.

What about dungeons, caves? Would be more difficult. I think we should not make the banking support.
With rejuvenate (will be 5min recharge time next week) you can still kill monsters for a lot of hours, looting-banking would only lure goldfarmers.
By the way as I have a kind of AIO fighter too, I am very interested in making a better, a perfect one, together.

Add banking support to the AIO fighter and at least 20 spots where it can fight and bank. We can always incorporate the slay script inside it.

That would be nice, but I think the box should be optional for monsters that aren't supported and we should try to support as many as possible popular monsters.

Yeah that would be difficult. I think banking should be added because it gives the edge over other scripts that have been released. Since we will be working on this with multiple people it wouldn't even take an extreme amount of time to get banking done for popular monsters.

From: masterBB

Yeah I would suggest this. The people that voted for a slayer script could work on monsters that are also killed for slayer for example. That means the AIO Fighter gets more monsters yet it is like working on a slayer script.

We will see :P

EDIT: I also think we should make it as easy for the users as possible. By having a Form to put all details in instead of editing the script for example.
