My screen is only 768 pixels high ^^. Well, it depends on what you use the computer for. I personally do like widescreen.
I would really like to have a 27" 2560x1440 scren :P But those aren't really worth the price right now for a good one ($600-1200).
1920x1080 is definately worth the upgrade.
Keep your old one and use it as a 2nd monitor to have Skype/MSN or something on. I used to run that exact setup but now running on one monitor again because I needed the other one for a Linux PC :P

For RS not really but I use my 24inch widescreen Acer Monitor for xbox 360 to which makes a hell of a difference as I previously used to play on a 60 inch plasma and it sucked soo bad my K/D was like 0.98 on mw3, with the monitor I brought it upto 1.44 in like a month or so then quit for BO2.
Also using 1980x1080 is amazing for pc games but you need a decent rig for that. I spent around £140 on my monitor is around £110 now and around £950 on my PC :P a year ago.

I have a 1600x900 screen atm. I upgraded from one of those fat old monitors, and trust me, it's worth it lol. Less physical space and more viewing space.

i had a 1440x900 monitor and it made a huge difference when i switched. i play games since i finally could afford to build a pc with half decent specs. but even just things like web browsing etc were much better since everything was clearer. i have a 24" monitor now and have a 19" before. best of luck with your decision

I think it is worth it. Nothing is bad if it has to do with 'upgrading'. DannyRS knows a little about monitors, you can try talking to him. He showed me a few nice ones. ;)
