Has lape been discontinued or something I haven't heard anything of it!

No, it is a long process of testing and adding stuff. Before we can make the switch we have to wait for srl 6, which will fully be lape compatible.

Is there a point of me learning to use it/using it now?
Whats the pros and cons?

Lape's faster and I'm sure it has more features than PascalScript does. If SRL is eventually going to switch to Lape, I think it would be worthwhile to start learning it now.
There really isn't much to learn. It uses the same language we use now it is just a different compiler. There will be some new features but the old ones will still remain and the scripts will be written largely in the same way.
As BB stated, it's a work in progress and will be ready when it's ready.
Theres no real point currently using it now, + if you are an 'average' script writer you will see no difference when lape comes along :)

I recommend switching to la-pe as soon as possible and mess around and have some fun with it. SRL-6 will not compile for PascalScript, so if anyone want to make scripts using SRL in the future, they will have to use la-pe. :)

If you do not use SMART painting and/or forms, I guess you could make the switch already.
I don't think there will ever be a state in which Lape is "ready". I think "usable" would be a better term, but both are subjective. It is usable already if you do not expect forms :p
For scripters, it offers speed and extra features to make life easier. For users, it offers platforms besides Windows 32 bit.
It has not been discontinued yet, and for some time now, every new Simba version has had a new version of Lape with bugfixes/new features.
