Having a small New Years party tomorrow. All guests are going to pitch in money and then some friends and I are going to get food/drank.

Any good ideas on what we could get that is tasty and satisfying?

Ideas:
Pizza
Party Platter! (Sandwich Platter from SafeWay, SaveMart, Costco, etc.)
(Are there other types of party platters you know of that are good?)

Suggest other ideas please!

Go get a raw shark and then cook it. Make sure it almost as big as a 12+ table. Lol.
OT: pizza is always a favorite. Or if this party is in a big house, then do some kind of BBQ thing.

Don't want to cook/work :p, just looking for takeout ideas.

RS/Shark joke made me lolz.

Yeah Pizza is an idea right now, but trying to think of better stuff too.

A barbecue would be fun. Make sure you get hummus and pitas for small stuff.

For the barbecue, get hamburgers, chicken, steak, ect. You will have a good time :)

E: Takeout ideas: Subway has sandwich platters you cold get.
Giant bucket of chicken?

+1 to the hummus idea. Get some pitas or pita chips to go with it. It fits with any vegan dietary needs and is frikken delicious.

As for part foods that aren't pizza… Jersey Mike's does catering for parties and such, and they have good sandwiches. The only thing is that you'd need to take orders from everyone ahead of time (or chance it with something simple like turkey sandwiches).

Subway party platters are normally enough, but since you want pizza try papa johns.

When it comes to drinks I recommend the Skyy John tipsy bartender channel!

Here's a video of him on how to find cheap booze for a college party:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2Y5j8nY-Mg

He has a lot of cool party drink mixes on his channel and he works as a bartender! Enjoy your party! :p

Drinks imo is always the main thing - snacks should only be on the side. Ordering pizza seems like a good idea, but getting some snacks like tacos would also be good.

Most of all, don't spend too much money on alcohol and juice then you'll have more to spend on food and if you know what you're doing the drinks will taste great! Just watch the Skyy John Tipsy Bartender.
Good luck!! :)

Looked into Subway it seemed really overpriced It's like $9.33/foot or something, so for sammich platters I'm gonna do Costco or SafeWay or SaveMart.

Yeah subway is expensive don't do it.

The CHEAPEST option is always to get the fresh ingredients and cook yourself! Even if you don't know how to cook - putting together some sort of dip sauce, some cheap tacos, some sort of snack plate with tomatoes and cheese on toothpicks etc… is going to cost you a lot less and it's worth the effort for the money you will save. :)

PS: you can always end up ordering pizza&fastfood if things don't turn out as planned - as a back-up plan!

PPS: Looking at this again. COME ON YOHOJO! You don't have to know how to cook to be able to make a sandwich! YOu'll end up saving a lot of money buying the ingredients yourself and it doesn't take too long either (maybe an hour of your time?). The only thing you'll need is some cheese, bread, eggs, bacon, tomatoes, cucumbers, mayonaise - can't think of anything else right now… And that's going to taste 100 times better than any subway sandwich with those fresh ingredients!!!

I haven't read any of the other posts, but I always love vol au vent's. They've been at pretty much every new years party I've been to and they're awesome.
You should be able to get some frozen ones from the supermarket.

Keep in mind that if you are going to order pizza it might take awhile. New Years eve is notoriously one of the most busy days of the entire year for pizza restaurants.

If you stick with celery and peanut butter you should be good.

Two and a half years since I've been outside the US, but does Subway not have those super long sub sandwiches? If so, I'd recommend that. :p

Looking like Sandwich Platter for sure as the main dinner, then possibly I'll make onion dip + crackers (REALLY GOOD), maybe make beandip, it's pretty easy and tasty.

I'd prefer anything over pizza, but I have nothing against it, thanks for the tip Scorched.

Solar, looking more for dinner-type food than snacks but thanks I'll check those out.

@RuneHack, I normally cook for myself at college all the time! Everyone in the party is pitching in and I just feel like being lazy on NYE and just buying the stuff. I'll possibly prepare a few things on my own, and MAYBE if I have time and help I'll just buy ingredients to make own things, but meh leave me alone D: haha, but you're right it will save a lot of money preparing things myself.

Haha yes indeed they do! I'm going to look into those, but their platter were overpriced! I think the super long ones will be too big for the amount of people I'm having though.

Replace the food with alcohol. If people still want to eat, reserve couple of kilos of salted nuts.

Yeah you should indeed do this :garfield:
Ate 3 this morning as breakfast. Then 5 as lunch :spot: So I'm at 8 right now. They don't have that much fat I believe, but I don't really care as I can use some weight/fat for fitness :bart: They are just really nice to eat on 31 December, especially when you make them yourself and eat them right when they get out of the frying pan :stirthepot::cartman:

You should really considering making them.
