PHP proxy / http protocol proxy

Okay, I'm working on this projcet to create a proxy server in PHP. PHP and maybe perl and another CGI application, but preferably just PHP. If anyone would like to help me out with this project (already got the original php file working), I'd be grateful to accept any help.

What still needs to be done:

  • Writing a library to retreive http content (i.e. images, files, .swf's) associated with the original html file
  • Friendly browser based UI
  • Password protection and access restrictions
  • Optional: Remote administration and caching of content

If you want to work this with me, you need PHP knowledge and need to be somewhat familiar with http/1.1 specs. Also, it would be cool if you had mySQL knowledge - however it's not required. Post here if you want to help.

Yes, it has been done but I don't seem to find an appropriate source on google or sourceforge.net. So I'm doing a semi solo-project making my own homebrew one :D

There are a few already made however they tend to be very slow expecially the cgi script ones.

Can you tell me where I can get the source of them? Because I want to set up my own server (got a LAMP system running at home).
