Yesterday I made a thread about how to negative rep somebody and like 2 minutes after I made it my internet went out. My dad called our ISP and they were on the phone for about 30 minutes until finally the guy was like "oh.. yea ummm.. in your area they are currently having a problem.. so.. it won't be back up till 8-9"

14 hours later I get internet back?


Anyone else in southeast USA lose internet?

Stuff goes wrong ISP's make mistakes, almost always a local problem tho (likely limited to your street cabinet / exchange), so no point asking us ;)

Yea i figured that. I kept checking it at 11, then at 12, I woke up at 7 to check it. Then I had a dream it worked then woke up and checked it and it didn't ROFL. Finally I got up at 9:15 and it worked (maybe the guy meant 9 am not 9 pm?)

As someone who knows loads of ISP call center workers, the guy had no idea when it was going to be back online, he said whatever you want to hear to get you off the phone ;)

Normally there is a stupid job system that reward the people who can solve an issue in under 3-5 min or something

Exactly what my dad said. He didn't care. He was leaving for California the next 5 days and I was gonna be pissed if I didn't have internet for 5 days straight.

Only people who know when its going to be fixed is the engineers who are working on it, and most of the time its all done on a "it'll be up when its up" basis, so call centers will just tell you it will be up sometime within the next 24 hours and close the ticket ;)

Don't mean to be mean but… that's the exact reasons nobody takes ddos reports seriously these days..
