Cheapest Way to Get Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

It seems Home Premium 64 bit is the highest level package an average user would need, some of those higher verions have tons of extra crazy random things that I don't think I'd ever need/use. Right?

Anyways, what's the cheapest place I could get a legit copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit? I heard that students (with a .edu email) can get discounts (or is that old news for when windows 7 first came out?)

http://www.onthehub.com/

Allows students of participating schools to get it for free, and I believe cheap if you have a .edu email. Also can get adobe stuff for dirt cheap as well.

Why Do you need to buy a key? Just install it with the cd's and use a Windows activator to fix a key :)

I used the enterprise trial version from the microsoft web page then used a KMS activation tool to activate it. Worked well for me :)

Yeah, YoHoJo, just get Windows 8. $40 for Pro version, and free as a student from onthehub.com. 8 has much better performance than 7, with all sorts of fixes and new features. There is no reason to stick with 7.

Isn't the $40 pro version, only that price as an upgrade from windows 7? And like $80-100 for anything else?

Yes, $40 is the upgrade price, but I am assuming YoHoJo is running some version of Windows. (XP, Vista, and 7 are all eligible for the upgrade.)

Hmm, I see. I thought I read somewhere that it is the upgrade for only Windows 7.

Maybe not.

Random fact: Going to be upgrading to Windows 8 this Christmas!!

Yoho, I think I might have a spare windows 7 key from all the different laptops I have. After work I'll see if I can find one and I'll give you it.

1) I just want a legit/genuine Windows 7 ISO I'm feeling paranoid about torrentin. Should have made that a bit more clear. (Although I also wouldn't mind buying it either, they deserve my money)

2) I have a really solid loader/activator to use once I get a legit ISO.

3) I never really though about windows 8 yet, I just assumed it was too new and I'd come compatibility issues or something. How's gaming on Windows 8? Link me to some articles and crap to convince me to go windows 8 then :p. If it's solid enough for daily use then okay.

Every piece of software I ran on Windows 7 runs just fine on Windows 8, this includes quite a few number of games. Microsoft Security Essentials is now built into the OS, performance increases over 7, more features.

Basically, what Euphy said^^^, but only on the pro version ($40).
Use this: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/upgrade-to-windows-8

Tells you what is compatible or not, on your computer. Most things are, some need to be re-installed, and the rest need to be upgraded from the website for compatible versions with Windows 8.
