Hello everyone,

Here is your chance to make suggestions on new features that you'd like to see implemented into the new forums. Links to actual plugins would be even better! :p (Preferably free)

Also please note this is not a democratic process. Even if 400 people want one feature, admins have final say.

Live chat. <– Better than having to connect to IRC every time..

Hide Thread. <– To make it easier to hide spam threads or any thread we don't want to see..

I don't really like the idea of live chat, IRC suffices.

Yeah but live chat is pretty useful in the sense that you don't have to know how to setup IRC, no ports, nothing. You can just come to the site, ask a question or have a conversation right there and then.

IRC is easy to set up but meh, the live chat would basically be right there.
Would prob reduce quite a bit of these repetitive threads as well. Especially for the lazy guys who don't want to have to go on IRC.

What about a compromise? Back when we were still debating of which system to upgrade to I found a nice vB 4 plugin for IRC. You can set it so that all the set up (network, channel) are all fixed. All they have to do is click on the "Chat" nav option and it will connect and join #srl on its own.

Remove or fix the rate a thread thingie. It is annoying that only the first person decides how many stars a thread has.

Thats more of a vB issue.

Tested on the new forums, seems to be resolved.

First off, will the new forums be vB4+? If so then here's a list of MODs I'd personally like to see…

-Perhaps for scoping out banned users who register under a different name & IP?
• Stop Registration Bots
-Registration bot detection based on the time it takes to register. If the time was so quick it's humanly impossible the registration is denied and the Administrators are notified (via Email I believe?).
• Spammers suck!
• Basically the same thing

@vBshout - We've discussed shoutboxes in the past and each time its been a heavy no. I am not a huge fan of them myself. I think the IRC plugin idea is a good compromises that covers your idea, Brandons idea and Wizzups.

@PayPal Donate - We actually have an older version of the plug in installed. That is the hard to find donate system ;)

@Advanced QucikReply - I like that

@Spam deterrent - We currently have one that blocks an alarming amount of the bots.

@User tagging - I already told you I would look into it. The only one I have found so has completely retarded licensing. Also depends on the ability to control it, if we can restrict to certain usergroups. If there are no restrictions and is an all or nothing type set up, then its a no.

Signature size limit…I'd be down for a shoutbox personally however the IRC plugin would be cool too.

Already exists. Unfortunately it is done by number of lines not height in pixels.

It already is added, it just doesn't work because inserting an image is like 1 line.

I will see if vB4 has improved the restrictions for this or if I can find a mod to improve it.

Maybe the ability to add flash applets to posts? As a flash developer I can explain many stuff much easier with small interactive panels. Embedding swf files would be so cool. But most of you will probably see it as a security risk.

Yerp, They will prob see that as a security warning.

But I would like the [noparse][video][/noparse] tag

couldn't a max height be set on the sig box? That wouldn't save the bandwidth but it might save our scrolling. Overflow hidden or something?

What about iframes, would that still work for you? Host the swf somewhere else and just post it in an iframe. This should keep it isolated from the forum, no?

NoSpam! - an alternative to CAPTCHA images

This simple hack is meant as a replacement for the default CAPTCHA system in vBulletin.

So what does this hack do instead? It asks a question. Any question you want. That's the best part: YOU make up the questions, which means that every forum is unique, which means that it is impossible for spambots to be simply programmed to bypass it at all forums with the hack installed. You can make one or many questions - if you make many, the hack will pick one at random when a guest attempts to register, search, post or send mail through the Contact Us form. Their input is compared with your specified answer, and voilà, if they get it right they're pretty much guaranteed to be human. If they get it wrong, they're given an error message.

It doesn't have to be a complicated question. Heck, you can just make it "Please type 'blah' into this box." Or you can go with inserting a simple image with HTML and ask what is shown on the image. Or you can ask them to tell you two plus two. It's up to you.

It reminds me of the registration on TRiLeZ's forum. I like the idea.
