ID'ing Items

I haven't seen this posted before, I didn't look really really hard, but I did scan the forums, and I didn't see this anywhere.

We all know DTM's *or should* and we all know about Blacklines, or the lines that surround items in your inventory * whatever you want to call em* right?

So what I was thinking is that we would take some time, maybe get a group of people together and split up items, alphabetically, or maybe make a list of items, and then we would have people make DTM's for them. Making sure they are unique and specific to that item only, but would work on every setting and brightness.

Then we would add all those DTM's *making sure their unique and small* into srl, into a function that would identify all items in your inventory / equipped / ect with a number or code. That way you could make a function like FindItem and it would have all the dtm's stored and it would search all the items in your inventory for that specific DTM.

Also, maybe we could make it use the relations of different pixels in the item and then use if(find this pixel)then if(find this pixel) so it wouldn't lag as much, then you could make it automatically identify all items in you inventory, or bank, or whatever. It could be very useful in the long run, and yes I know it would take all long time to make but if we get a lot of members working on it, it wouldn't take that long to make, and it would be really helpful *IMHO*.

The reason I bring this up is I used to use this macro for another *unnamed* game that identified all the items in the game with a number code so it could always know where and what item it was.

Thanks for reading this *if you took the time* and I hope you will consider this.

There is already something in SRL that has like 131 of the most popular f2p items Bitmaps. I was just looking at it today.

EDIT: its in misc –> items list

If you had to load thousands of bitmaps into the memory wouldn't it lag? Or would it load them as it needs?

This is a good idea, but there are way too many items to do it for. The bes tthing to do would simply either do it on only a small mount of items or make people make their own dtm's for thier scripts which would be best. I do see what you mean adn thsi would be great, but there are far too many items in the game to do it on such as all the fish, logs, gems, ores, picks, axes, flax, wool, and way way more. I do like this a lot and if it doesn't lag the game too much, ide say yes.

I've been working on this for months. See BlackLists (links in sig) for a taste.

If you mind me asking how far are you, and would you appreciate some help?

I think I got it under control, but thanks for the offer. I have been working on several things a piece at a time, so it takes a while for me to finish :p

So far I have created BlackList functions for bank (won't take me long to do inventory) including a BlackListToString creator.
WithdrawBankSlot(WhichSlot, Amount: Integer);
MouseSlot(SlotNumber,ClickType:integer);

I need to do some inventory things, and finish the DeclarePlayers-style DeclareItems. I will update progress on BlackLists in the tuts and B4 in a new thread when necessary. I can't give an estimated date because I got other scripting projects plus RL stuff, but you'll know when it's time :)

What about something similar to FindXP?

You put in the itemname, and it returns the DTM

FindDTM(getdtm('chef hat')...);

Yea thats like what I was thinking! Just have like a really big library of DTM's ,but I think that Boreas has got it under control from what he's said. I can't wait until it's out. XD
