I have been running SMART through WINE on linux (Ubuntu) for months, and a few days ago I started to get the "applet declaration" error. I know that if I get the error on a Windows machine, I can just load the game in a browser/in the official client and it will start to work, but I can't do that on linux. The official client won't run through WINE for me, and I can't get it it to work on browsers either(never managed to).
How can I make it work? I have tried reinstalling Simba etc.

I'd rather not bother with browsers, I just want to be able to run SMART like I used to be able to.

Start with empty table by deleting ~/.wine

try changing the world number, sometimes an invalid world number can give those errors

There's a bug with smart 8 that prevents it loading if it's stored on a path with spaces in it. Check your path and move the folder if necessary.
my bad

If you're using linux anyway, maybe try running Simba natively with SMART? it should work fine, that's generally how I test things.

It could be an update to wine that is causing the problem. Make sure you are not running the beta release:
sudo apt-get remove –purge wine
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install wine1.5
sudo apt-get install winetricks

It would be great if you could tell me how to do that. I tried to run the linux native Simba once, but couldn't figure out how to after downloading(do I need to compile it myself or something?)

I also have linux, and i really can't get smart to work. I've followed the tutorial on the site.
But i can only open smart when i download it. When i click to open it with wine, it does absolutely nothing.
