Google it. there are alot of tutorials online for making IRC bots/clients. It would most likely be easier to start with a simple command-line irc bot, as well, then expand to a full client.

Two hours later, can't find one for C++, only open source IRC bots(Which is cheating) </3 Just going to wing it with sockets.

Even better, make a client where people can place bets on coloured flowers which appear in the chat. Then make some commands which tip the results, and sell it to Fishy to 2b

You could write a simple file encoder/encrypter. I wrote one a while back that uses matrix multiplication to encode the ASCII values in the file, it was fun :D
