mass botting?

So I have enough spare parts around to build a rig that can do 25-40 bots depending on what script.. bot shouldn't really matter, per running account simba seems to be pretty matched with other bots these days (except epicbot, that thing craps on cpu)

Anyway, I don't have time to bot, or sell gold, or do anything of the sort..

I did some math though, at something like 100k an hour per account 25 accounts going:

1,800,000,000 gold per month, not sure what that's worth but seems pretty good

I assume most people know how to make like at least 300k per hour, per account though.. so that seems like a lot of money, I'm just curious if anyone is looking for this type of operation?

I'd take care of the machine itself, the internet, the electricity etc.. keep it running cool and all that good stuff
other person takes care of all runescape related and gold sales stuff - so they would get majority of the money if sold for USD

Maybe PM "Main"? He might be interested in doing this. (We have talked about this before)

We as in you and me or him and you? I've talked to a lot of people (so not sure), now the machines actually dedicated to hopefully this & making money. :P

I'll PM him though, I really hope I can find some people or 1 person who wants to manage the bots.. thanks!

I'm curious, if I may ask, what do said people manage the bots with? Tools like TV or Ultra/TightVNC?

Whatever they want, I was going to setup a headless machine so yea, some type of VNC then.. doesn't really make a difference, I've tested it a lot, there's no different in performance other than the GUI takes a bit of ram and more bandwidth for remote connecting because it's sending over images lol.. so not really anything

also thinking, I could do a windows 7 machine (was originally only going to do linux)

Well if you want a first timer, I think it'd be a nice learning experience to maintain 25 active bots. :p with that said, if I even make the list, I'm probably at the last spot haha

What bottable methods do you have that make 300k an hour? All of the common ones are ruined by the eoc or the massive amount of goldfarmers. Also, do you plan on using simba or another bot?

Pretty top of the list, being the only person interested, lol
well got a PM, so two people interested
maybe you guys can work together, not sure.. can be discussed later I guess

Why are you asking me? People are welcome to discuss it in this thread, however I feel I made it pretty clear I don't really want anything to do with runescape - I also know pretty much nothing about it

What sort of a cut are you looking to be taking?

grats

2012-11-29 01:05:49

not too sure, a percentage but a percentage that would like go down as the persons amount they do per month goes up.. so like a fixed price, but it would change.. I'm pretty easy going so not much, would have to be per person and specific to the person I'd be working with etc

I've tried to get this kind of thing going several times. There is always something that stops me tho.

IMO: The upkeep of an operation like this makes it not worth it, especially after a royalty.

I'd be more interested in accounts.

Anybody likes earning money (including me), but I especially like disguising my characters to blend and reach high xp goals or overall levels :)

From someone who has gold farmed extensively in the past (About two years ago), just a fair warning… it isn't a simple cut and paste; it is actually a lot of work to keep up and maintain (Talking about the person actually botting, not grats's computer)

Yea, I won't disagree with you there.. if it was something I could do on my free time I'd be doing it myself, but I know it requires a lot… that's why the person botting would be getting majority of the money.. it's definitely more work than my electricity costs :P

If you bot enough, on this scape 25-40 bots, you can make a good amount… as much as people make for a real full time job about (which is crazy when I think about it) but it takes the same amount of time probably.

It's not if you have a nice script. Some "deathwalk" that fixes all your characters no matter what will be sufficient. AKA what my catacomber does (dunno if that even still works, look at it for ideas on what I do).

All that would need to be done is coding something that's resilient, and then you don't need to worry about upkeep other than transferring gold or whatever off it.

That was what took me the most time lol, Jagex likes to update there game or something will force you to log off eventually (I normally can get 1-3 day proggies before; my internet dies, or Jagex decided to update randomly)

It was never the script itself that screwed me it was always the transferring or just staying logged in through updates etc.

Have you ever tried to run a massive army of bots? I have no doubt its easier now without randoms, but it still takes TONS of upkeep (fixing stopped bots, transferring gold, waiting to sell your gold for a good price). The cost of electricity, internet, ect start to add up. Before you know it all the upkeep you're doing is for 10-20 cents/mill(Profit, After expenses) if even that now days. I am not trying to discourage anyone, by all means take the bull by the horns and give it a shot. I just thought I would offer my opinions as some one who has dealt with the upkeep of a bot army in the past.

Not really hard to code around that, unless Jagex makes major changes to the game every couple days which I'd doubt (though dunno since I haven't logged in forever).

Edit: wow just looked at the new combat thing. Combat should be so easy to script now with that thing saying if you have a target or not, disappearing instantly when dead.

Yea.. I have, I think people are definitely capable of it here

internet already gets paid for.. it wouldn't be any change - electricity here isn't expensive, especially at this <300 watts

Does the 6 hour fix work on linux? do you know? I think I remember you made it..

or does anyone know?

What linux distro do you run with 40 bots?

grats

2012-11-29 10:56:53

have had by far the best results with fedora

will prob be doing windows 7 though, not much of a difference.. only uses more initial ram and at this load 1gb of ram is whatever

gotta overclock for that 40 though, depending on script I expect probably around 25-30 with the cooling I'm getting

IDK, that was old. If you can find a way to make it crash Simba like it did before, then it's mostly just a trivial "while true; do ./Simba -r script.simba; done;".

Yea, 2 people, one is serious not sure how other one is.
but looks like the serious one might be more like 12 bots, so the other half will be the rest

@harry, oh I thought the fix now was the one you made
