How to dispute a credit card dispute?

Too hard/not sure what to Google :-\
It's mostly for how a customer can file a credit card dispute with their credit card company.

Well I got a few amazon gift cards sent to my email which were purchased via credit card. They were then disputed by the buyer via complaining to their credit card company.

Wondering what steps I should take/who I should talk to to try and get my money back.

I'm guessing I'm screwed though.

Not telling how much I lost :-P

Unless you have some sort of clear evidence that the owner was the one who purchased the cards with the credit card, you are probably screwed :(
Even then, considering it was not like he purchased an item from you with the credit card, the credit card company would most likely not assist you from their end.

if you know the persons identity I'd suggest trying to find other people that have been scammed by them. Open a civil lawsuit.

It was done via Sythe and Skype :-\
I have Skype conversations and Sythe vouches as evidence' and it seems that he has scammed at least one other guy, not sure how far ill be able to get.
Also possibly have his phone number :-)

Try to get a IRL name and town/state, that would be massively useful.

There are websites that give you all that info with a phone number. Can't think of one off the top of my head though.

There a bunch that say they do/claim to but in the end you have to pay to get any of the good info :/.

I've got Phone Number, Name of Card Owner, AND the Card Number itself LOLZ!

I still feel like it won't be possible to do anything though, what's next? :/Civil Lawsuit sounds nice…. :)

Forgot to say, his dad is a very successful lawyer….

Got lid's name, Dad's name, Mom's name, Sisters' (multiple) names.
Credit card number that kid used (his dad's) to buy the gift cards.
Dad's email, phone number, and address/place of work.

But something tells me his dad being a rich lawyer and all will not get my very far, he'll probably just say fuck you and leave me, and if I take him to court… he'll own me…

Time to draft out an email.

Hello Mr. P****h,

On Saturday, September 29, 2012 your son, J**n P****h, purchased $X worth of virtual (video game) goods from me.
He paid for these goods using Amazon Gift Cards purchased using your American Express Credit Card ending in digits XXXX.
Recently, these payments were charged back by the cardholder leaving me $X less credit in my account.
I am writing this email asking to be reimbursed for the goods which I've sold.

Thanks,
XXXX XXXX

How's that sound? Give me suggestions! Tell me what to edit/change/include.

I just hope he isn't some hard-ass, asshole, jerk guy (being a lawyer and all) and just flat out doesn't respond or refuses me :/.

I'm going to also try and pull that I'm a college student and need the money and it was hard work and time for me to get all of that GP to sell him etc. etc. (which is all true).

I think amazon will just say to contact the person who gifted me and settle it with them :/ but I'll give amazon a shot too. uuguuguguhhhh

I never knew this was even possible until today!

Sounds good to me, maybe give him links to proof pics?

Don't think there will be much of a need for that, I mean he owns the credit card and did the charge-backs himself.
The son might tell the dad that he never got the gold from me though :/ which would be LAAAME.
Hopefully he knows his son is a young spoiled brat and is lying! :p

I hope the man has a heart and eats up my college kid money for books etc story!

Any more opinions on the email outline in post #9 please!

IMO, Don't try and play the poor me card. Lawyers generally aren't sympathetic. After all, they are lawyers. They can't be very sympathetic if they like getting paid. You have a better chance with staying professional and talking like you're a business owner such as in the example you posted. Anyways that is about your only shot at getting your money back. When I used to Middle Man a lot of trades back in the day there were always a few that cried wolf to their CC company. Not much you can do. [/WallOfText]

Well you are only 21 if your profile aint lying and then it seems reasonable to be a student. If it was a big amount you loss then I would try to go quite far otherwise just try to get contact with the dad and talk to him via phone and try to sort it out.
