Upcoming Script

Hello all, I feel fairly confident in the capabilities of my first script (improvements are always to come, but it's sitting at a workable place, capably accomplishing most of what it should consistently (hoping the posting will help encourage help from other developers) and I have a question on antileeching.

I understand what antileech is and I support it. However, I plan on making my script technically work even when leeched albeit with a modification. Typically I see in mining or fishing that would mean dropping all collected items (which I considered), but I am considering something far more mean, to say the least. I plan on (and have added) code that specifically makes it seem like a bot with an extremely easy antileech removal if anyone pays attention (or even reads the instructions). However, like I said, it will purposedfully act like a bot instead of a human for leechers. I didn't see any mention of that type of action being allowed or not in the rules, but I figure I can ask here to find out for sure.

Thoughts?

I have no idea whether it is allowed or not, but by bot like do you mean like no randomness? If it is allowed, make sure to make it very clear that there is such antileech

I think this is allowed since we once had a script by a member here that said: " I'm a bot". So anything is allowed to be on your script except phishy codes. If you use functions from someone, give them credit. Also copy, pasting, and renaming the script is not allowed.

You're thinking of that "donat 2 mee so i can mak scrip for yu" guy aren't you ? :p

Haha, I saw that donate guy too lol.

But yes, I plan on spelling it out that there is such antileech in the instructions, as well as in the script and put it all in a single very obvious and easy to fix place. Well that and some less obvious antileech that does small things like load limits, etc.

That should be allowed then, good luck with the script! :)

I don't think you will get good feedback by playing anti-leech hide-and-seek within 500 lines of code. ;)

I don't think that it would be a feasible considering you would need to declare new variables for every other variable you have in the functions and procedures that you use… I think sticking to simple anti-leech is effective enough. And why would you want SRL to be known for high ban rates if we can do much better than that?

Anti-leech is one thing, but purposefully making your script unsafe for others who don't know any better, that's a bad thing to do. You need to realize if those people get banned it's also putting a bad image on all of our scripts as a whole; you're giving the impression that Simba scripts, in general, are unsafe to use.

I'm way against this mate..

I 100% agree with this! Well said. :)

On second thought, if you really want to antileech it just slow it down or remove a feature. That should be enough crowd control if you're worried about it getting overused.

All righty then. Definitely a good idea for me to have asked first in that case. Removed the dangerous one and put in simple stuff like a slow down and memory leak and tried to make it an obvious fix with hints as to where it was.

It is your own responsibility what scripts you decide to use. The only thing that isn't allowed is adding lines to phish the users. If you want you can make a crappy script that spam clicks on the same spot 24/7.

But it's nice to add a warning in the topic :)
