Post your Cyber Monday shopping deals!

Personally, I've been looking into a laptop for a family member; and am looking towards this:
http://www.amazon.com/Asus-S56CA-WH31-ASUS-15-6-Inch-Ultrabook/dp/B009RUS452/ref=zg_bs_3269423011_1
fits desired qualities, being thin/light (more so when I put a ssd in)/and able to have a YT+skype open

How 'bout ya'll? :)

Bought new computer parts for my mother yesterday has she was complaining about the speed of her computer. Yesterday it broke (HDD error after researching/testing) and the motherboard isn't 100% anymore either so I decided to build a new PC :) My father paid for the parts and I can have her old computer which is fairly decent (AMD Phenom X4 / Radeon 5670 videocard) the motherboard/ram are pretty bad.

Trying to fix the HDD as it is quite large (1,5 TB) not sure yet if it is an actual HDD error or if reformatting will make it work again. Will need to get the stuff off it first.. :P Anyways that is my sort of 'shopping deals', we don't have black friday/cyber monday here :(

Anyways, that laptop looks nice. I personally have an Asus laptop aswell and the build quality is nice :) Intel graphics 4000 are nice aswell can even play games on 1366x768 at medium @ 30+ fps :P One time someone accidently plugged out my charger so my laptop went out of gaming modus and stopped using the dedicated graphics and I could still play GW2 @ 1080p / medium graphics at like 10 FPS xD Orignally I thought that the internet connection was bad but then I realized it switched graphic cards.

Anyways my reply has gotten longer than expected.

this has probably been the worst black friday / cyber monday week in the past few years, unfortunately =/

I'd recommend something like that for your laptop.. too small and you won't have anything to put on it and have to carry around a drive :P

I got a good SSD and a new main machine for my desk this black friday, nothing special though

Ha, nice background! Both bad and nice to hear I suppose; granted the bad part of a failing computer and the good part of being able to have some fun salvaging parts :) Hope the HDD plays nice, and I didn't think of cyber monday not being world-wide :x And nice insight on Asus, figured I'd go with this particular brand because it plays for the spec's I want and is pretty well priced compared to most other computers I've seen as of late :)

I agree, I see hardly any worthwhile deals :/
However I've one step ahead on a SSD :) But that is a nice find, 130 for a SATA3 240gb :) - however it only lasts 2m hours, I plan for 2M and 1 hours [/bad pun]

Cheers,
Lj

which SSD? MTBF usually doesn't matter.. speed, cell types and controller usually do more :P

Where exactly did "Cyber Monday" come from? I've never heard of this before this year… Is it just another way for companies to get money from you?

Normally when I buy stuff that I need, I feel I'm getting something from a company, not they're getting money from me

black friday / cyber monday are American super sale days for pretty much every store.. Now with the internet so popular some other countries are starting to join in

Edit: Read the post above and it answered my question. ;)

On topic:

I really wish I could of been home to buy some stuff. Got so much money so far from being deployed. I want to spend it on some camping stuff and maybe try to build my first computer with Grats. :D Looking foward to the next Cyper Monday!!

hmm, now to see if I should compare the first laptop with another and see which one I like better…

both have +'s/-'s, and I've some discount on the dell too so decisions, decisions.
